Eroded Band Removed After 6 Years

I can also relate to you, ladies - had mine removed after it slipped and "twisted" - this happened almost 4 weeks ago after I had the lapband for 5 years - still in a lot of pain. Figured out it was gas. I thought it would be better after 4 weeks?? Hubby is helping - slapping on my right side, until the burps come out and pain then goes away. Ktiggirama - how are you doing now?? Back to feeling "normal" again....Between shoulder pain, pain where the port was, and these terrible abdominal pain or gas, I am not sure when I can go back to work. the Dr mentioned that if I came in 24 hours later, my stomach would have perforated - but no antibiotics give , no endoscopy or Catscan - he did not even think I need strong painkillers...feel on my own here.... anyway - good to know I am not alone ...would love to hear from you guys - carla

    Another Newbie

I had a revision 2 weeks ago -ended up on ER twice before I had emergency surgery and band removed. Exactly 5 years of up and downs!!! It still hurts like crazy- cant laugh, cough. Went back to work after day 10- but couldnt keep it up. Today it feels as if the shoulder pain is subsiding. Hope so, since i agree- so much pain cant feel normal- Groce to ask- but have you also had lots of diarrhea?? Not sure if normal and inly seeing Dr next week
  4. acid reflux, stress, ovulation...all .. together makes for a very very tight band!!!! not sure if I should take out some fluid

Do you still enjoy food after lapband...

i am 4 years post op...and have to say that i think my taste buds have changed,,,my dr sometimes laugh at me...but I tell you...I now drink a lot less tea and coffee...but where i previously had one and a half teaspoons of sugar in it, I can now put in four - and still dont taste the difference...sweet is not sweet anymore...And the same with salt...maybe its just me...dont know. Still worth it though...have to agree that I do enjoy the small piece of steak more than ever before..
  6. .....I am not good at this - so be patient with me. Funny thing happened. I joined the site in Oct 2007 when I had my lapbandI never went on the site....had to reset my password just now - and NOW - after 3 years I need help. I have done well. Lost 85 pounds...bmi went from 42 to 28 or something. I now weigh 190 pounds and can still lose a lot more, but somehow I am content ....maybe another 10 pounds will be nice. In January I am even getting a mommy makeover. Here is the thing. Every ***** month around my ovulation period, I get so swollen that I can hardly get any food down. This results in a yo yo effect..... a bad cirle started. When I do not ovulate, or have my period, the band is too loose. Or if it is right during normal dayds, its too tight during those periods.....which sometimes get close to 10 days. Now i tried working with this - remember it has been 3 years - I should be a pro by now. Problem is - I had so many fills....the dr punctured my port in Dec - and I gained 50 pounds. It has been fixed since - and back on track. I am nervous going back to him all the time - even though he is the nicest man alive....but if the band is not too tight - its too loose. And I know all the right things - dont we all??? I can right a freakin book - exercise more, eat right yada yada yada ....So I have to either suck it up through the loose times, or drink Water through the tight times..... Here is my question to all the ladies out there.....Please tell me I am not alone in this. It is Thursday today....Last "decent" meal I had - was 10 days ago. After that the band tightened up soooo much that I can only drink water / tea etc....The dr already adjusted it 2 days ago and to be safe, I stayed on liquids for another day. Last night I tried scrambled egg and 20 minutes later - it all came out again!!!! So how long do I wait for swelling to go down, or at what point do I go tail between the legs ....back to my doc?? I think I know the answer - but I need to know that I am not alonnnnnneeeee...so please let me know.

    question for all post-opers

Welcome to the club!~I was done 3 years ago - and this has been up and down ever since. Dont get me wrong - still happy with results....but so many things can influence this ....it is crazy. I get too tight (stress, weather , ovulation,???) then I swallow something wrong or too big or too fast....then I throw up....then it gets irrated and even tighter....then I cant eat anything....back to Dr....then too loose ...etc etc etc etc. ....bad circle reaction. So good luck and dont feel embarrased - seems that we all go through that at some point

    Weather affects the band?

[THANKS ....I have been so tight lately....can barely eat anything....I already had an adjustment, but still very bad. I asked my Dr if it could be the altitude. We live in Colorado.....or ovulation....turning into period...or just ME!!! Now there may just be a silver lining around my very dark cloud!!!

    Angry!!

[Relax friend.....but I know how you feel. You first need to find the right spot for your body in this journey!!! It took me almost 3 months after surgery to really start seeing pounds drop....and then it got too tight!!! But you know what - if you want to - compete in the competition - especially if they dont know you have the surgery....lol - it may start working in your favor in a while - and then you may just win it!!! Hang in there - I also just "rejoined" this site. Nobody - that has not done this, will EVER know how hard it can be, or how long the road has been for you. good luck ....
  10. [For the last 10 days I have been on less than sliders....typing with a shake in front of me!!!! Sorry to say this - but I am so freaking glad that I am not the only one out there - please do me a favor and read my blog. New to this - so not sure if I posted it on the right place....but girl - I know how you feel. I am just as tired of that. I already went to my dr on Tuesday and he took some out...still cant eat. I hope the swelling go down because right now - I need something other that orange juice with liquid vitamins and shakes!!!! Good luck
  11. you are lucky!!! Had this 3 years ago....and trust me - you will know if something is stuck!!! The tight feeling you had - that sounds right - specially if it did go down a little later. But the way I experience it is that it is an extremely tight, sometimes really painfull feeling, on pit of stomach. In my case - if it was something not chewed well, or swallowed too big, it WILL come out. It is not supposed to happen - so be careful. Read my blog - and you may understand how it could be, since I am now going through a fase where even my Water go down slowly. SO - it may either go down eventually, or you may vomit. at least it is a little better than reeeaaaal vomit ( is there such a thing?), but it is not good for you. If my band is too tight and has been for a while , i experience back pain as well....Good luck =- seems like you are doing very well
  12. Good luck !!! Maybe it is for the best. Enjoy the festive season and then a new year will bring a new you!!!
  13. Okay - I need help - read my blog - anyone out there that goes through this??
