1 week post op, insatiable thirst, and 31lbs down since July 11th
iamdeannadixon posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So i had my RNY surgery last Friday, and was only down for the count for about 2 days (meaning didn't feel well and only did the required amount of moving/walking around) but since then, i've been on the GO! It's hard for me to stay put and I'm not sure if I should be staying in the office, but it drives me crazy. My biggest frustration post op is how thirsty i always am, and due to my stomach still being in the healing stage, I can't take large gulps of Water like my mind wants to!!! I went out dancing with friends last night, and was so thirsty and it took me forever to finish one cup of water.......matter of fact i never even finished it. So since i started the pre-op liquid diet, i've lost 20lbs, and since surgery last friday I have lost an additional 11 lbs. So within the last 3 weeks 31 lbs down and I'm really happy about that. But i want WatER WATER WATER!! -
Can NOT decide between the VSG and RNY! How did you choose
iamdeannadixon posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just received the approval from my insurance and I will be receiving a date soon, and up until this point i have said I wanted the RNY! However now I'm second guessing my decision and want to know how you all concluded on which surgery was best. I'm just concerned that their are not enough long term stats on the VSG which is what led me to picking the RNY. Are any of you 5+ years post op from the VSG and can tell me how you have done thus far. My only concern with the RNY is losing weight too quickly, I want a more gradual weight loss believe it or not!! Please help -
Feeling guilty that I'm not excited about being approved after 8 years worth of attempts!
iamdeannadixon posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have literally fought, cried, prayed, and sought after WLS for 8 years. My first attempt was in 2006 and was denied because my insurance required 5 years of documented weight history (that I couldn't provide), plus a 6 month waiting period. After that I went on my own personal journey to lose the weight, and regained it of course. Then i attempted again in 2010 and paid for cobra for 6 months to only find that they had made a revision to my insurance after the new year, and no longer covered WLS. So finally after all of my attempts, and failed natural attempts at keeping the weight off, i received an approval from BCBS and have my surgery date of July 25th. I have so many mixed feelings, and unexpected fears. I start my pre-op diet on July 11th, but I started a PRE Pre-op diet just to get my mind adjusted. I'm just thankful after all of this time, i finally get the blessing of this surgery. I just wish i was a lot more excited than i actually am. I almost feel guilty that I'm not jumping for Joy? Anyone else with a similar experience? -

I have to get rid of H Pylori before I can be scheduled for surgery!
iamdeannadixon posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So when I went to my consultation with the doctor they tested me for H Pylori, and it came back positive, so they stated after completing the 10 day antibiotics, i had to wait 4 weeks to be retested. But I am a little nervous based on other posts that it is difficult to cure. Please provide me feedback on what happened after you did a treatment to get rid of h pylori to qualify to schedule your surgery. -

you guys are awesome, this is my first time making a post, and usually i just stalk everyone elses posts on here, but I really am nervous after hearing of everyone elses process. Some had to do treatment 2-3 times before being cured, and I need to lose weight badly. I'm also looking for some home rememdies to help cure this little joker. I plan to start chaning my diet and eating habits now.
