I was banded in Sept 2009 when I lived in Florida. My husband & I moved to Pennslyvania in April 2010.
I initially saw weight loss with the band, but I started gaining weight back before I was even a year out.
I never thought of getting a revision till my PCP brought it up at an appointment in early 2014.
I dug my heels a little not sure if I wanted to do it, but knowing I should as I gained most of the weight I had lost back. So I meet with Dr. Ramanathan in July 2014. He shot me down right away, would not even consider fighting for me to do the revision as everything appeared to be in working order with my band. Even though I gained the weight back, to him it was all my fault. So crushed my husband and I left that appointment. I thought of seeing a different surgeon but just felt that everyone would say the same thing.
Then I saw my PCP in August 2014 and she was appalled that he said that to me and would not even think of fighting insurance to do the revision. She referred me to another surgeon. I again waited a bit, but finally called an made an appointment with Dr Peluso. I saw her on 9/15/14, my hubby's birthday. =) She did not even think twice and said she would do the revision.
She would rather do the RNY as she thinks I will see better results and faster than the sleeve, but she will do either one. I wanted the sleeve back in 2009, I still want the sleeve, but don't want to do it and then fail again. So now I am on the fence as to what I should do...sleeve...RNY...sleeve...RNY...I am leaning more to the sleeve but doing some research on the RNY just so I can say I researched them both and make my decision with knowledge better on both.
So that is my story at the moment in a nutshell as I start this process all over again.
