  1. OMG - thank you so much for posting this!! I, too, have been combing the forums for some info on this and have found zip! I had the sleeve 4 years ago in Cancun and lost 87# with it (297 SW), only to gain back 50#. I'm devastated and ashamed. I am going to a new surgeon on 9/5 to talk about a revision to RNY as I feel that is my only hope to fix this failure. I feel hungry all the time and, while I do not each large volumes like I did before my sleeve, I'm still gaining. I travel often and am usually taking clients out to dinner, so that doesn't help (we have very similar situations). I am so excited to hear you are getting this done and I pray it is wildly successful for you. Thankfully you have a supporting husband and you will have support here I'm cheering for you and hope to follow in your footsteps shortly. Please keep us updated!
  2. I am in NC in Raleigh...but due to good old BCBSNC and the hoops I have to jump through, I am having mine done in Cancun
  3. Hey Elisabeth...I haven't seen much mention of him either, but everything I have heard has been good I can't wait to hear how your surgery goes! Please be sure to give updates if you can...I'm so excited already...don't know how I'm going to wait over a month lol
  4. I'm getting sleeved on 7/26 in Cancun with Dr. Hector Perez...anybody else getting it done on that date in Cancun?

    sleeved in july:)

Congrats to both of you! I'm getting sleeved 7/26 in Cancun with Dr. Hector Perez I'm so excited I can barely STAND IT!!! LOL
  6. Thank you, Anita! Glad to hear you had a positive experience with him The cost I was given is $5,550 all inclusive for me and bf (we pay airfare). We chose Cancun over Tijuana due to it being a 3 hour flight for us instead of 6-10 for Tijuana. I will be sure to let everyone know how I am doing post-op.
  7. I'm flying in at 2:45 and will have surgery at 6pm that day. I'm super excited and alma has been fantastic throughout this process! Anyone else going to be there that day or a couple of days after? We're staying until the 30th...SOOOO Excited and my PMP is onboard and prescribed me b12 shots for when I get home. Any tips, advice? Reading all of your posts has been monumental in helping me feel comfortable with this decision. Thank you all so so much!
  8. Dr Illan is in my top three as well. Can you tell me, does he do a single incision gastric sleeve? or the 5-incisions? Just curious I am hoping to be scheduled in August, too!

    BCBS of NC

I have BCBSNC (State Health Plan)...and I have to do to the 6-month medically supervised weight loss visits, too. I called BCBSNC yesterday and they stated that all BCBSNC policies that support bariatric surgery have went to that rule due to Medicare changing their rules (NC changed with them). I'll most likely be going to Duke Raleigh Hospital for mine, and my surgeon said he hopes that when the plans come up for renewal on 12/31 that the policy will change back and the 6 months of visits will no longer be required. *fingers crossed* I've actually thought of having the surgery down in Mexico due to the wait and the cost being about the same. Still considering it, actually.
