  3. I was sleeved Monday June 9 and was told to crush my medication. Prednisone is so nasty crushed no matter what I put it in, and not being able to gulp my drink makes it worse yet lol... Wondering how long before I can swallow pills again and if it's even possible?
  4. Hi everyone. I was sleeved June 9, today is 1 week since surgery. Still having quite a bit of gas pain even after walking.... And usually 2 times a day have been having diarrhea. Is this normal? If it is how long does it last? Last thing is I feel so weak still. Pain is pretty much gone but I just feel light headed and weak. Wondering when will I feel like myself again. Thanks

    Gas pain and diarrhea

I was on clear liquids for 5 days... Water , broth and g2 Gatorade. I started adding in 3 protein shakes a day made with skim milk over the weekend. Yesterday for the first time i ate a few spoons of Greek yogurt and some cottage cheese. I've been getting 60-65oz liquid in a day

    Steroids

Thanks, Jackie. Is this something you'll be on permanently? How did you discuss it with your surgeon?I have been on prednisone for over 2 years, toward the beginning of those 2 years a much bigger dose. I've been tapering the past few months trying to get to the lowest possible dose before my surgery and for me 5mg was the lowest I could go. Doctors think maybe after I lose some of the weight I won't need the prednisone anymore since many times inflammation issues can be worsened by being overweight. I was sleeved on June 9 so it's only been 6 days. Going back to my rheumatologist next month. I also take imuran along with the prednisone. I was told to stop the imuran for 2 weeks (1 week before surgery, and 1 week after ). I start the imuran back up tomorrow.
  10. Tears reading this!!! Wow!!!! You look fantastic. What an inspiration. Thanks so much for sharing. You give me hope. I had gastric sleeve surgery and have been on liquids for a week, got on my scale this morning and gained 5 pounds!! I was told that happens from others on this wonderful site. Congrats on getting your life back!!!
  11. Wow I'm just now seeing the date on this thread I guess I'm late hahaha sorry glad all went well.
  12. I had surgery June 9 and I was also scared. I have many health issues too and was terrified of not waking up. It's normal, try not to worry. Everything will be fine it's over before you know it and each day gets easier. I got my period the day before surgery ( another common thing I hear) and when I checked in they weighed me, vitals etc... Shot of blood thinner meds in tummy which does not hurt at all... Get IV started.... Then the anesthesiologist comes in and asked questions and before you know it your off to surgery. When you wake up you may have oxygen, I did... Taken up to room and family can come in. They will put compression stockings around your legs that can be removed when you are ready to get out of bed. IV will remain in your arm for your hospital stay. It's really not bad I feel like the worst was the 2-3 day for pain but they give goodddd meds. You may have some nausea also drugs for that and It gets better each day. For me the hardest thing is gas! They fill you with gas and it is hard to get rid of unless you walk. I am 6 days out and feeling ok, a little weak.. Off all pain meds, some gas, no nausea... So doing much better. In the long run this week or 2 of discomfort will all pay off. 1 last thing .... Don't weigh yourself until week 2 or 3... I did and got dissapointed lol... All the fluid and gas they pump in you takes time to get rid of and also your body is adjusting.... I actually gained 5 I was so mad but I hear it's very normal so I have promised myself to wait till next week to weigh in. Keep sipping you will be fine. Good luck
