A HUGE LIST of Protein drink recipes

Really? No GNC? The woman working there the other day was full of information and said she has a lot of bariatric shoppers. They had chewables in everything. Hmmmm... I just wanted to make sure what she suggested was close to what everyone here was taking. She even gave me samples of Biotin chewables and they tasted pretty good! Thanks for the responses!!

Waiting to hear from the surgeons office if I can have my surgery on the 25th. Was supposed to hear either last Friday or today, the wait over the weekend and still today (it's 12:36 pm in my time zone) is killing me. Weird thou, did anyone else have a surgeons office who didn't do a preauthorization with the insurance company? It seems like I will be scheduled and the hospital will just put it thru the day before or so???

OMG This wait is killing me!
amsterp replied to amsterp's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No call yet. I did get a call and got set up thru the Beaumont Weight Control Center for my post-op follow up and will meet with the dietician and exercise guy. Tried calling but the person who I was supposed to hear from yesterday was out off the office. I'm getting frustrated!! I have so much going on starting the end of September so I wanted to be thru the surgery and recovery by then. I am putting on my soon to be sister in laws bridal shower. Wedding is November 8th and both my son and I are standing up. My son plays travel hockey and I am the team manager so all that will start up. Just getting really irritated!! Thank God I kept the apt with the doc I originally wanted. If worse comes to worse I will go with him as is office seems to be a little more streamlined since they have a department designated to bariatric patients. -
Do you have to do shakes or can it be like the Isopure waters?

I too would like to know what to start taking. I stopped in at GNC and the woman was very helpful, said to start before the surgery and it will help to be stronger to get thru recovery quicker. Told her I would be back this week to purchase my stuff, but wondering what everyone else is taking.

Awe I am so sorry for your daughter. I kinda mentioned it to my 7 year old son and his response was he didn't want me getting my stomach taken out. So different scenario for me. I will definitely keep her in my thoughts. Like someone above said, do you have someone who can bring her to the hospital to see that you are ok after the surgery is over. Even if she can't see you right away to at least be there when the doctor comes out and let the family know it's done. The time the surgery takes will be like forever to her!! To at least knowing she will be there and hear from the surgeon maybe it will be easier on her.

What if I do not get my referral?
amsterp replied to ambieambs's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My PCP was totally on board so I was lucky in that aspect. But I believe that here in Michigan thru Beaumont's Weight Control Center they have all the doc's on board you need to get the appropriate paperwork. Maybe check to see if there is something similar in your area. -
Experiences with Phentermine?
amsterp replied to RellaBelle's topic in GLP-1 & Other Weight Loss Medications (NEW!)
I too was on Apidex. It really helped curb my appetite but at the same time made my blood pressure sky rocket!! My doc would no longer prescribe it for me and put me on blood pressure meds. Got my BP down and tried it again and same thing happen. That's when I found out my new insurance covered the sleeve and said to heck with the drugs and I am so excited to get the sleeve! Can not wait!!! My doc is totally on board with the surgery as she has been working with me to try to loose this weight for years. -

I am so glad my surgeon only requires a one week liquid diet. Haven't gotten the "book" he hands out to follow, interested to get it thou!! @HaddocksEyes my mother is diabetic, not because of weight or anything her pancreas basically quit working right after she had me so she has been insulin dependent my whole life. She has to take 3 shots a day and prick her finger to test her blood levels throughout the day. So needless to say needles do not scare me at all! Even my 7 yr old is cool with them, makes it so much easier at immunization time! I just can not wait to get in and out and begin this awesome journey!! -

@@HaddocksEyes I am so excited I can barely stand it. I just hope it's a yes when I get the phone call tomorrow. I have been overweight my whole life and can not wait to feel comfortable in my own skin. I have a 7 year old who is a sports nut! He plays travel hockey and baseball so I am excited to get the chance to join him rather than sitting by watching. First stop is going to be an amusement park so I can ride with my little thrill junky! He will finally be tall enuff to fit on almost everything, and I will be small enuff to fit on the rides. What a sweet day that will be!! I can not wait to be healthy and know I will be here for many more years rather than worrying about my health. I can not wait to be able to go into any store and actually fit in a pair of jeans. I can not wait to go to Victoria's Secret and be able to buy myself something. Did I say I can not wait to be healthy and happy and healthy and happy?!?!?! The day before surgery I'm hoping to be even more excited than now. I am not afraid to go under. About 17 years ago I was in a major car accident and had three operations to repair the damage to my hip and ankle. Then when I had my son I ended up having to have a C-section and the local and epidural wore off so I was in so much pain I had them knock me out to put me back together once I heard my son's cries. I am worried about the week long liquid diet more than anything. But when you look at the outcome you just have to plow thru it! Recovery doesn't scare me either. I have a pretty high tolerance for pain, was up cleaning my hospital room out of boredom the day after my C-section. Hoping the changes also affect my taste buds in a good way cuz I am such a picky eater. Going to use this as an excuse to try to make myself try new things. I am going into this with high expectations of major changes I will make!!! -
Congrats!! Can't wait to get approved and scheduled so I can cry happy tears with you. Keep up the hard work!

One day??? My surgeons office says could take 3 weeks. When you got the answer was it a call from your surgeons office or letter from BCBS? -
Ditto on the amusement park rides, in fact already talked about planning a trip to Universal/Islands of Adventure for next year! Buy any pair of jeans from any store in the mall and actually put them on. Buy a too cute bra and panties set from Victoria Secret. Run to the corner AND back with my son.

Been struggling for a decade of being obese!
amsterp replied to Lisa Ducharme's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lisa - Have you called your insurance company to get all the requirements? I have BCBS MI and they also require the 6 month physician supervised diets UNLESS your BMI is greater that 50. At 5' 6" 303 lbs I am right above a BMI of 50. I met with the surgeon Friday and already had the psych eval done so they are going to be submitting my paperwork sometime this week. Hoping to get approved, and quick!! If I were you I'd call your insurance company to see if they have something similar to waive the 6 month diet. -
Today I met with the surgeon and already had the letter from my PCP and the psych eval completed. Now just waiting on surgeon office to submit to BCBS and getting approval then I'll be able to schedule!! Doc said hopefully early August. Bmi is high enuff to not do 6 month diets so all that is left is EKG and chest X-ray once approved. I am so excited, hope the time flies by.

Officially starting my journey!
amsterp replied to MS_Science_Sleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats!! I had my first official appt today also. But I knew my insurance requirements so already have them completed and out of the way. All I have to do is wait for my surgeons office to submit to BCBS and get my approval then I can schedule the surgery. Good luck to you on your journey! -
Dr. Kerry Kole, Beaumont Hospital, Troy MI
amsterp posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Just wondering if anyone has chosen Dr. Kole and what your thought on him are? I am scheduled to see Dr. Meguid from Beaumont Grosse Pointe but I can not get into see him until July 28. I am afraid of waiting that long as I am standing up in my brothers wedding which isn't until November 8th but I am putting on the Bridal Shower Sept. 20. I think if I wait that long I will be pushing it kinda close for recovery and putting on a Bridal Shower. I really liked Dr. Meguid when I met him at the seminar I went to so that's why I initially chose him. I figure if I go to meet Dr. Kole and don't get the same fuzzy feelings I can just move on and stick with Meguid. I have a BMI of 49+ and with my insurance a 50+ waives the 6 month diet program. Thinking I will wear ankle weights, long blue jeans and a parka for the weight in! -
Dr. Kerry Kole, Beaumont Hospital, Troy MI
amsterp replied to amsterp's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I've already contacted my insurance to find out what they require, gotten my approval from my PCP, did the psych eval and now just waitng for the initial consultation to get the ball rolling on the other stuff, that's why I really don't want to sit around waiting another month. The doc I originally wanted to see is moving offices so closed that week. Going on vacation so another week lost, not that I am faulting him for vacationing or anything like that! So I figured it won't hurt to meet with a different one to see how I like him, so just asking if anyone on here had seen him. -
3 1/2 months out sleeve before/after (PICS)

Great job!! Waiting to get scheduled so I can start sharing my success photos. Keep up the good work!!! -
Hi everyone I am Amy from Michigan I am just beginning my journey. I have been battling with my weight my entire life and I'm just sick of it! I want to get healthy for myself and my seven-year-old so I can go out and enjoy life with him rather than sitting by watching. Monday I went to the seminar at Beaumont in Grosse Pointe and met Dr. Maguid I really likeed him think that's who I want to stick with. The only downfall is I cannot get into see him for the initial consultation till July 28. Figure I can just try to get as much paperwork in order as possible so I'm ready to go. Today I had my appointment with my PCP and they are totally supportive. This coming Monday I have my appointment with the psychiatrist to get the evaluation completed and out-of-the-way. Luckily my insurance waives the six-month diet program with a BMI of 50 this is the first time in my life my obesity has been a positive. I am so excited for July 28 to get here and hope I have no issues with getting my insurance to approve the surgery. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
