  3. 4 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 4th Anniversary VICKIP!

  4. Hello, I am here in New Jersey and have had my band for 1 year now. You can write me anytime you need help. My name is Vicki and my email is vpetrucci110@msn.com
  5. Then you have to realize that its HER and not the band not doing its thing. You cant eat like that and expect to lose. I eat ravioli but i eat a few with a meatball and home made sauce that I know has no fat in it. What I did before was also go to a support group for a few months to hear different stories and that made me so much more comfortable. I still go monthly. Where do you live? Is there any groups near you. You can write me direct any time you need to talk at vpetrucci110@msn.com
  6. I am sure it is a big decision.. But look at it this way. Its what you make of it. If you are not going to modify what you eat you will never lose. You have to still make good food choices. It is reversable and not nearly as dangerous or risky as by-pass. I had a hard time to making the decision of getting it or not. I felt like I was killing off part of me. What made me me. It has been so easy to lose weight this time. When I dieted and exercised on my own once it took me 18 months to lose 60 lbs and Ive already lost 45 in 6 months. I just dont eat fast food, chineese, candy or cake. I eat better things and just less of it. Occasionally I will have cake or ice cream but only occasionally. It is so much better than I thought it would be. Please dont miss this opportunity to have the band put in. I am sure you will be very happy with it. I have a daughter who is 22 years old and I would tell her the exact same thing if she needed it. Bypass would be a different story..
  7. I had both surgeries and I have to say they were equally as easy. With both gallbladder and lap band I was back to work in one week.
  8. I got my band at age 49 and wish I had the opportunity to have had it done at age 20 like you are. Do you realize how lucky you are to be able to do this. I am sitting here right not with a piece of food stuck that I swallowed too fast and I would STILL tell you to definately get the band. I love it. Yes it has its ups and downs but dosent carrying all that extra weight have its own price? I had my surgery 6 months ago and i am down 45 lbs. It was the best thing i've done concerning weight loss and by far the easiest way I've ever lost weight. Get yourself involved in a good support group following surgery and you will be just fine. BEST OF LUCK..

Questions about long term food restrictions

I had the exact same issues prior to surgery. I too am italian and love my pasta. THANKFULLY I am able to eat everything and thats after 2 fills. I do have to be careful not to eat too fast or too big of pieces but if i take my time and chew chew chew and take small bites I am fine!!!! I make a pot of sauce with some beef cubes in it, brascole, meatballs and let it cook a long time. That meat falls apart. I use Barilla whole grain thin pasta. I take very little pasta and more meat and lots of tomato sauce. I also take a good spoonful of part skim ricotta too and put that on it. It satisfies those pasta cravings real well. I am able to eat bread too although I do try to limit my carbs to only 200 calories a day per my nutritionists instructions. Good luck to you..
  10. Does Anyone Have Tons Of Gas ( Both Ends) Especially After Eating. Also, After Some Meals I Get Alot Of Pain/pressue In My Back..
  11. I had the same problem. I am 3 1/2 weeks post op.. The nutritioist has me on chewable childrens vitamins plus iron. They are killing me. So I stopped them since I am probably eating a much better diet since surgery than I did before. I am eating veggies with evey meal. I took Milk of Magnesia and what a difference.. Just a small dose. One TBS.. and it worked. My stomach felt so much better. I go now 2x a day at least and its great.. Miralax is also a great thing. It used to be prescription but it is now available over the counter.
  12. Yes it is very common 3 days later to have alot of pain from the surgery and its the gas they pump into you.. I have had other surgeries in the past and it was always the same.. Best thing to do is walk. Just walk alot and it shouldnt last more than a day or so.
