I am 57 years old; I just got a referral today; I will be going through the military health care system. I doubt it will happen very quickly. I have wanted this for a long time, with military health care you get a new doctor every few years. My doctor put in the referral today, as I was leaving my appointment he told me he is being transferred to another base. I was bummed, I really liked him.
I have been desperate for this because I have tried everything else. I love walking and swimming and that has just become too difficult this last year. I lost 85 pounds on my own when I was 50 years old, now, 7 years later, it's all back despite my true efforts.
All i want out of this is a healthier life to be able to do the things I like to do and to keep up with my beautiful grandchildren. I am very lucky to have a supportive husband, daughter and son in law. The grandchildren are very young and love grammy just the way she is; but I won't be here as they grow if I don't get a major portion of weight off of my body.
I swear, I have tried everything. Someone once told me that having weight loss surgery is giving up. I think they are so wrong to believe that. They just do not know the individual struggles people have with trying to loose weight.
