I wrnt to A Lighter Me, Dr. Ortiz Sept 4th. It was a great experience. They picked me up from the airport and after that took care of every detail from hotel to surgery. All I had to do was show up. Zero complications, 3 weeks out, 20 lbs down and feel fantastic. -

Alberta girl question: Why go to Mexico?
Shastasmom replied to Meltzy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So glad to see these posts! Last night while I was falling asleep I had convinced myself that I could do this on my own. I have failed every diet I have ever been I and honestly I have spent well over the $4400.00 cost of my surgery in weight loss program and supplements. I know i don't carry as much weight as others but my struggle is the same. My knees are swollen and painful, bending over to pick something off the floor is tough, I have a difficult time doing my toenails, I snore horribly, sleep is difficult at times. I'm tired of feeling tired. I'm pretty healthy otherwise but know If I don't arrest this weight problem I will soon start to suffer worse! My last reason I want to lose weight is really vain but honestly, I want to feel sexy again! My self esteem is really low right now and though he doesn't say anything, I'm sure he's wondering if I'll ever want sex again! Start my pre op Aug 21st. I'm already doing most of it except still enjoying a glass of wine. That goes in a few days:( lord give me strength! -
does anyone else feel that nothing else matters?
Shastasmom replied to jessiquoi's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wanted to be sleeved late July but with our schedules We couldn't get away till sept 4 th. I'm so envious of those on the losers bench I wish I had bit the bullet and gone of my own July 27th and been done by now! Sept 4th cannot come soon enough. I wished I'd looked into this 15 years ago! My job is suffering from my constant OBSESSION with my sleeve! None of my coworkers even know what I'm up to! BTW, I a straight commission sales person! I'm not making any money right now cause all I think about is this damn sleeve! -
8 days post op cheater :/
Shastasmom replied to Amarie812's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you really have to ask yourself if you are in this for the long haul? If you can cheat within the first month or so is this going to end up as another failed weight loss attempt? For me I know I have to push the boundries. I have decided that I have to listen and trust what I am told as apparently I haven't succeed do my own. I have pushed every rule that was put in front of me from every weight loss program I have ever tried. And guess what? I have never succeeded! What a surprise. I plan on following the rules, do as I'm told because I have never lost and maintained a healthy weight. I'm putting my faith in the pros now.... -

Looking for a good plastic surgeon in Mexico with flight and hotel included with price.
Shastasmom replied to aninim's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Sorry, I didn't see you were looking for plastics. Mine is for a sleeve. We have companies that do everything, book surgery, flights hotels for surgery from Canada but we can also chose to book everything ourselves. I'm saving over $500.00 by cutting out the middle man and booking my surgery and flight on my own. -

Shastasmom replied to Kindle's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I'm going to Dr. E. Ortiz, Sept 4 th. I from Canada, just outside Edmonton. I chose Dr Ortiz because of the reviews I read. He seems to be very well respected and a lighter me has a great reputation. His price was also really great. $4400.00 -

Bariatric Surgery v the "Natural Way" (Long)
Shastasmom replied to HaddocksEyes's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Funny you should post this. I just had the exact conversation with my hubby last night. I have been dieting for the past 35 years. My first diet was an egg and grapefruit diet that I successfully lost 30 lbs and proceeded to gain it all back. I was 12..... I have drank optifast for 4 months, successfully lost then gained 50 lbs..... My stepdad lost over 100 lbs last year, got off all meds for diabetics and is now gaining it back. A close friend of mine lost 50 lbs 2 years ago and every time I see her now she's gained a bit more back.... As I get older I feel the excess 60 lbs more and more. I cannot kneel down, I'm having a tough time painting my nails, I am short of breath, I have sleep apnea and I'm overall feeling aweful! My goal with WLS is to lose the excess and then train myself to keep it off. My hope is that the sleeve will be a tool to help me. I don't feel like it's any different than going to another weight loss program, just hoping it is the tool that will work! -
I'm. Flying from Edmonton to San Diego. I will get picked up from a driver with A Lighter Me and driven to the Marriott. The next day I will have a sleeve, stay at the hospital 2 days and then2 more. Back at the marriott. The river will drive me back to. The airport and I fly home. Easy peasy...... I hope. Sept 4 this my sleeve day. Yikes!!!!

Husband says no to me having surgery!
Shastasmom replied to Mich4351's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Sorry your hubby's not on board. I've had the same struggles as you for the past 35 years. Yo yo dieting and always regaining. My husband is totally on board and will be traveling with my to TJ Mexico on sept 3rd for my sleeve. Tell your husband that you need his support, you've researched this and this is the best solution. Also tell him that 95% of all diets fail. I'm not sure where your Dr came up with that stat. I've never heard of a 60% failure rate. Maybe ask the Dr. For clarification? Good luck! Hopefully your husband will come around. In the end it's your body and your decision. -
THE LIQUID DIET COMPLAINING/SUPPORT LOUNGE
Shastasmom replied to V.V.V.'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been hearing a lot of complaints about the sweetness of shakes and truthfully haven't tried any yet. Last year I did isagenix for 6 weeks and didn't mind the flavor. Has anyone considered low sodium tomato juice with protein powder? I'm not a sweets person so have considered trying this. Anyone try this before? Thoughts?
