I wonder how low your iron is...I have had low iron before during and still. My doc isn't overly concerned. What is your count? I have never had infusion, but I too cannot do the supplements. I did try eating more spinach, squash, liver and other ones (pumkin seeds, cashews, almonds, red meat and lamb) I am still low, but take in the "recommended daily allotment. I have not done anything different as the doc hasnt worried. I wish I could help more, but at least you know you are not alone in this.

Hi again Determined! I am glad to have been able to have helped. As for traveling, this is going to depend on a) your doc (surgeon) and your body. Each person handles the surgery differently. I have seen some get up after 2 days and feel perfect and have no troubles, then I have seen others who just cannot deal, or their bodies have decided on longer recovery. For ME, in my experience I would have been able to travel with in a couple of months. The key thing to remember is that is a long flight and you will need to nourish yourself with more than what a plane can give you. so packing of food would be soemthing to put thought into--of course to plan this early is silly as you 1) wont know what stage you will be on and 2) what your body will allow you to eat in the early stages. have fun in Latvia!

    Protein help

This is good in lemon lime sf Jello too. Except I use fage Greek yogurt and as vanilla protein to it before mixing into Jello and pineapple. (And jello and fruit combo works well... Orange and mandarin oranges are really good T oo)

    Oz of protein

I think the question is more along the line of how many ounces can or should one consume...at 8 weeks, I believe i was between 2 an d4 ounces of anything. the amount really depended on what I was eating. yogurt, 2-3 ounces, soup i could almost get 4, cottage cheese or any other cheese was closer to 2. you are on the right track. keep it up!

I agree to some degree as above... *I want my insides to remain where they belong and my body to function as normally as possible. * recovery time is relatively the same. It all depends on your body and how it is going to handle said procedure--regardless of which you have. * dumping happens primarily with R&Y. However, we too, can get to feeling ill with sugar or carbs. * no malabsorption with the sleeve and it is possible to not be on ALL vitamins for the rest of your life * any and all nsaids (ibuprofen, Aleeve, etc) can cause ulcers in both surgeries. It's a master of how much of what do you take to what degree you are seeing yourself up for ulcers. And depending on which surgery will depend on where the likelihood of the ulcers to appear. In your intestines or your tummy. The ability to be or appear to be normal after 6 months to a year by eating regular properly portionedt meals.
  11. Stephanie, at 9,10,&12 months I was still eating like 6 months. Matter of fact I was still forgetting to eat all together. Now at over 2 years I don't ever feel hungry but it is now a habit to eat. And it is now an effort to eat right.

I am in Anoka, over 2 years... So far the veteran of the group. There will be something you can eat... That I am sure of. As a back up, bring something if your more comfortable with that.
