June 2014 Sleevers Check In!
madwife2002 replied to SnohoGal98296's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have lost 36lbs since surgery on 6/2 but it is very slow 1 lb a week if I am lucky-I eat around 600-800 calories a day so I am going to increase it as I do cycling and walking/running 5 times a week minimum. I wouldn't change a thing though and I am happy I did the surgery-I have changed my life! Now experiencing much more energy I am able to eat 4oz of soft food really easily and I do not struggle-I do feel full at the end of my meal I am still really enjoying softer foods because I forget to chew 30-40 times-so if I eat chicken it does get uncomfortable -
I love this forum especially the statistics it gives me hope. I am 10 weeks post sleeve and apart from the first 2 weeks my loss has been slow I am 37 lbs down since surgery I lose a pound here and a pound there. I exercise nearly everyday which I am enjoying, I look better but I guess I had unreal expectations that it would just fall off me. I try really hard not to weigh myself daily and go for 2-3 days I just feel a little despondent at times and find it hard to believe I will loose the 80lbs I have to go! I guess I am stressing that my surgeon and Dietitian told me that sleeves only loose 60% of their excess weight and I want to loose 100% Does the weight just stop coming off after 6 months?

Thank you all for all your support-I am not normally a naysay I am proud of myself and if truth be known, in the past, this is probably the time when I would in my diet be talking myself out of dieting!! I have no intention of not following the program -

I am sure who ever said 'My eyes are bigger than my belly' must have had WLS Today I baked chicken drum sticks and once they were done I bounced down to the Kitchen to get my dinner! I placed 3 drumsticks on my plate and sat down to eat them-not a thought in my head that I could not possible eat 3 drumsticks I ate one and started in on the second when I realized I was full and I could not even eat the second one let alone the 3rd Previously I would have wolfed down 3 and got back for another now-this is what WLS has done for me! My eyes are definitely bigger than my belly! I still get hungry that hasn't changed for me but the difference is no matter how hungry I am, a few bites in and I am satisfied

I bought a bike a couple of weeks ago and although I am enjoying it-it is hard work but I push myself The big hill that I live on the top of is lovely on the way down but it is very hard on the way up and my legs shake once I get to the top!

madwife2002 replied to livvsmum's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Just WOW -
I bought a bike and started riding for exercise, boy it is hard work but it is also enjoyable. I hope that it does get easier in time! I have a very busy erratic life. My surgeon told me no matter how horrible, or long my day is I have to get home and go exercise So I force myself to either go walking or ride my bike Those who use the bike for exercise can you tell me how long it is before it gets easier LOL

Exhausted and struggling at work
madwife2002 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went back to work last week at 4 weeks and I am struggling with my energy levels up beyond what I expected I do have a demanding job and I have to travel up to 2 hours per day-then I am on my feet a lot I forget to eat on time, it is hard getting all my fluids in, and it is difficult to take my pills (Vitamins and calcium) Please tell me it gets easier? There is no chance of exercise as I fall into bed as soon as I get home -
I think you the regret you are feeling is normal-I know I felt it and still feel it sometimes-I am early on but I do understand what you mean. It is a kind of mourning the loss of freedom in what you eat, the pureed stage of the diet is horrible and i have got to the stage of almost puking when I eat cottage cheese or yogurt. I am sure I may never eat cottage cheese again. I am getting to the stage where food is just what I have to eat to live. I think we can go through the 5 stages of grief with this surgery! Some people may laugh at me but I think it is normal to do this
