anyone getting sleeved in DECEMBER?
chip305 replied to taniamatts's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I just got my date, December 2nd, can't wait!! I have a few things to get done before then but I am so excited!! -
@@bridget1015 Congrats, I am envious. My records got submitted to insurance yesterday so I am trying to be patient and play the waiting game. It's not easy when you have been working so long to get to this point and to know that it may have all been for nothing, you are at the mercy of the insurance company. Oh well, keeping good vibes going. OMG right after I posted this the Dr. office called and I was approved!! December 2nd is my day!! I have an appt. for my endoscopy at the end of this month and one class and some labs and my pre-op physical in November and then my 2 week liquid diet starts Nov 18th and I am on my way to the losers bench! So excited!! I hope everyone else gets approved this fast, I am blown away!

@@TeacherMommy I'm so glad to hear you are doing well, I am sure it is very difficult to be on liquids that long, I would be cranky for sure! I go to module 3 tomorrow, then I will get submitted to insurance, so I really hope to have a date soon, it seems like I have been working towards this forever even though it has only been 6 months. I hope you get to progress to the next step soon!

@@TeacherMommy how are you doing? Looking for an update!

@@TeacherMommy I live in Altoona and work in Ankeny, it's great to have the opportunity to find people nearby to build a support system of people who can relate to what you are experiencing. I will be anxious to hear how you are doing on your journey.

I am so glad to hear you are doing so well! Congratulations! BTW, Dr. Smolik is going to be my sugeon too, I hope to get submitted to the insurance next week so I can get this thing going and join you on the losers bench!

6 month medically supervised diet policy changes?!?!?!?!
chip305 replied to S(he) be(lie)ve(d)'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon's insurance coordinator is the one that told me that the requirement had been dropped, I believe she was contacted by BCBS about the policy change. I really hope this helps you! The surgeon's office is getting ready to submit my case to the insurance company, I will let you know if it goes through. -
Congrats!!! I wish you the best!

I see the surgeon Thursday, Sept. 11th, I'm hoping for late October of early November at the latest. Wish me luck!

Even if your Dr is not there, sometimes talking to a nurse can be the reassurance you need.

Hi, I consider myself a newbie, I have completed 2 of 6 meetings with the dietician as required by my insurance and had my psych eval. My first education module is scheduled for August 19th, I have not met with my surgeon yet so I kinda feel like I'm out here on my own and not really engaged in the process yet. I'm sure once my modules start I will feel more secure in what my process will be, I am very excited to get some things marked off my list. -

chip305 replied to S(he) be(lie)ve(d)'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have BCBS of Iowa and I am required to do 6 months, I wish it was less but that is what the insurance company told my Dr. Office. -
Just saw your reply, hope your surgery went well, please update me. I have had my first meeting with the dietician, just trying to start logging my food and work on portion sizes. Unfortunately or fortunately (all your perspective I guess) I can't lose more than 20# or my BMI will be too low for surgery, kind of a catch 22, oh well I will take this time to learn more and stay positive!
