proudgrammy is very proud
amazon replied to ProudGrammy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You should be proud of you!! That is awesome. All of that hard work - you deserve it. So happy for you! -
Thanks for this CowgirlJane. I'll definitely check it out. However I'm going to wait to make any changes to any supplements at the moment. I should be doing my one year blood draws shortly. I want to see how they come back. (I had a physical in March and my levels were normal then). If still ok, then something like this is certainly worth a try.

The lack of libido was certainly an issue (for quite some time) prior to surgery. It's, um...back

watching this, I'm the same way...

it's 90+ and humid outside...I think I'm heading out for a walk. A year ago I would have melted in to a puddle. Now I think it's a great way to defrost! I have more fleece blankets/throws around the house then ever... I'll take that insulation over what I had before! :-)

I Want To See Before & After Pics! (Cont'd)
amazon replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
@@Gaelsmom you made me lol...that's just a good angle on the arms :-) Although I've got some good tone, believe me, I've got some wing action going. But thanks for the kind words! -
Why do people say the things they do?
amazon replied to Hello new me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a similar experience. I was a BMI of 36 with comorbidities. Considered a "light weight" as it's called. Seems like a silly phrase when one is MO. I did at times feel a bit out of place. There were people around me with a lot more to lose, and some would make joking comments about me not needing WLS, even an occassional nurse. Well, believe me, I did. I didn't take any of it to heart - I knew why I was there and what I was doing. Nothing was meant to discourage me. Do what you're doing for you, no one else. :-) -
I Want To See Before & After Pics! (Cont'd)
amazon replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Went out for a nice dinner with hubby last night. He insisted on taking a pic when we got home, lol. Ok, silly question - I've reached my surgeons goal - I'm now getting the "too skinny" comments. Yes? No? I tend to think it's because folks remember me as a size 24... -
For me, it only takes a phone call for my NP to record that I have a rash. I've all ready been prescribed the ointment. I've been told this will suffuce for the justification for insurance (which covers it). I don't think you have to actually go to the dr. Worth checking in to :-)

Hi crynick Dr Brams is great. His team is awesome, which is really where so much of your after care/support will come from too. Can't say enough good things about the entire group. I didn't have as much to lose as some. He asked that I get to 200 by surgery (which was 24lbs) . I got below it by a couple of lbs. As a result I only had to do one week of the liquid pre-op diet (lucky me!). I've reached my goal (yay!) and I see him the end of next month for my one year surgaversary. I go to the monthly support groups in Burlington. Maybe I will see you there? :-)

What Amount Can You Eat After Sleeve?
amazon replied to JentryB2020's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I'm just shy of a year. Tonight's dinner was a two egg omelette with a 1/4c shredded cheese, and a few pieces of broccoli on the side. I was hankering for broccoli so I did eat all of it (something I'd normally leave for last). I ate a little over half of my omelette. I typically measure the Protein 3-4 oz plus a few bites of a non-starchy veggie. That's it. If I have say, a premier Protein shake, it takes me a while to finish it. Those fill me quickly for some reason. Definitely plenty of restriction at this point. -
I lost at about month two to four. Even though I knew it was normal, it was stressful. It stopped as suddenly as it started and I had the lovely chia pet look before long :-)

Post-Op Panic - They Can Reattach It, Right?
amazon replied to LemonMarie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It really does get better. And pretty quickly. In a week or two you'll wonder what all the fuss was about Your tummy is very swollen right now. So don't think that how it's behaving now is how it's going to be going forward. Everything will get so much easier. Just stick to the plan given to you and you won't hurt your tummy. As far as hunger goes, we all have to learn the difference between head hunger and real hunger. It's a big adjustment, but part of the journey. But if you're having real hunger make sure your doc knows because excess acid can be the culprit and need to be addressed. You're doing great :-) -
Are pork rinds sliders?
amazon replied to simplyamy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me, I'd be wary of them more as a trigger food than a slider. Sliders are things that pass right through and don't leave us satiated. The Protein in these should stay with you. I'd just start to think of them as chips...which are a trigger food for me. -
You're too thin! Stop losing now!
amazon replied to bellabloom's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I agree with everything said above. On a side note, I want to lose an additional 10 lbs. (that would get me below 130 at 5' 5.5") I made the mistake of mentioning that to a friend. I got the same response. I was like, WTF. Believe me, I have it to lose and it's not in my head, lol. -
I'm a manager. That's 100% unacceptable. I'd have her a$$ dragged in to HR. Go file a complaint and let them deal with her. If she relatiates, she will lose her job. (can you tell I have no patience for shallow people?) Or, you could simply ask her, exaclty what is the "easy way"? I'd love to hear all about it - you must be doing it.

Enjoy yourself. You can only eat so much. You're doing the right thing and making a solid plan. We go to restaurant week when it happens here too. The bonus is the yummy left overs!

Protein Shake Questions
amazon replied to MOMMY2MGM's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For coffee flowered I like Chike. And if you want more coffee flavor just add a little instant too. Bazinga! -
Do they require that you go to a Center or Excellence? Mine did, and I have BCBS.
-
Serious red flags...please keep looking. You will be going through enough, you don't need insurance and maybe unscrupulous surgeon headaches to boot!

Let's get to know each other!
amazon replied to Stephanie Salsera Perrott's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1 - Near Boston, MA 2 - Gastric Sleeve 3 - Aug 2014 4 - 85 lbs - so far! 5 - Just about anything! Mostly eat chicken for convenience. 6 - No problems - very lucky 7 - There have been so many - happiest one to date was horseback riding again (grew up riding, owned a horse). 8 - Most are shocked to find I'm a firearms instructor and competitor. (Maybe it's because I'm in MA.) -
How much can you eat? (volume/weight wise)
amazon replied to SlimJill's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
3-4 oz of protein (depending on what kind) and a couple of bites of veggies. Never thought I'd eat my protein and be like..c'mon, you can eat a third brussel sprout! (nope, don't do it!) Most mornings, when I take my few pills and my two chewable Bariatric fusions I'm full. My shake I make lasts most of the morning. So I'd say at almost a year I still have plenty of restriction. I'm very thankful it's the case. I hope it continues. -
No judging...just a hint of envy

The guys room/ladies room indicator isn't working anymore
amazon replied to CowgirlJane's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
That's weird for sure. Hopefully it gets fixed! Bummer that your reply essentially went to waste. Having seen your posts I bet it would have been valuable...
