If there was a god, I would've pooped by now.
amazon replied to heychelle912's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
well, all I can say is you didn't get an epidural first ???? The water, miralax every day...milk of magnesia if you need it. And walking....YOU moving a lot keeps your bowels moving too. Sorry you went through that. I think we all have at some point. It's no fun... -
i need some advice/help
amazon replied to jennaayyy03's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Starting over with the liquids can kind of "reset" you and break you out of some of the bad habits that may have crept back in. But it can be a drag too. But I'd say get back to basics. Dust off that plan they gave you in the beginning. Protein, veggies, limit starches, get your Water and exercise and track. Be honest with yourself. That's the only way you'll know what you need to modify. You can do it! -
I didn't have to. I've heard so many different answers. I'd just do what they tell you to however. For what it's worth, they just put the finger monitor on me and it worked. SMH

Physically preparing for plastic surgery
amazon replied to nursejenny07's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I second the resistance training. It's been the center of my workouts since last August and I swear by it. My plastics recovery was great. Eating clean and getting enough Protein I think is important also. But getting as "in shape" as possible to help you through the down time is the best thing you can do IMO. The only thing my doc had me do was take arnica montana a few days in advance and afterwards. I didn't have any bruising and minimal swelling. Good luck !! -
I hate to say it, but he has shown his true colors. He was not the right one. He didn't love YOU. I'm so sorry. It must be devastating. In the long run it will be the best thing for you. You deserve a real man who loves, cherishes, and respects you. You are worth it.

anybody else's steri strips still on?
amazon replied to Mrs_O's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine stayed on, although were a little lifted around the edges. It was tempting! I think they came off at my two week appointment. It was nice because they have the adhesive remover. That stuff irritates my skin. So it all came off. My incisions were glued. -
Vision Changes Post WLS
amazon replied to 4MRB4PHOTO's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's weird, I'd say mine has improved. I hardly wear my glasses any more. I wonder if it's because my blood sugar levels are much more stable and my diabetes is in remission? My eye doctor would often comment that a diabetic's vision could indicate their blood sugar level (blurry or not). But our body goes through so many changes as we lose the weight, it's not to crazy to think that our eyes go through something too. Hopefully for the better once we're done! -
I had a great experience at Lahey. They have a solid program. I know they accept MassHealth. Good luck !!

I can certainly take a satisfying gulp if I want to. Just not more than a couple or I'm full, lol. That passes quickly though. Water/liquid moves right through. I can drink normally. Just not chug a 16 oz glass of Water without stopping. Those days are over. This is after fully healed, of course ????. And not right before or after I eat. I follow the food rules given to me.

Two weeks? Sure, why not? I can't argue it. For me we met in July. Engaged by early November and married the following June (that's 11 months). That was over 30 years ago. And I can say I've fallen in love with him again...it some how gets better. When you find the right one, I don't think you can put a time requirement on it. Hey...it's love! ????

Veterans - What Size are You After Weight Loss?
amazon replied to careya123's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My biggest clothes were size 24 and they were snug. Highest weight I saw was 265. I was 224 when I started the program (size 20/22..told you they were snug). I thought if I could get in to single digit sized clothes it would be surreal. So an 8 I guess. I don't ever remember wearing that. Well, maybe as a fetus. I'm now a 2, or 4 petite. My jeans are a 0. But I'm pretty lean except for my upper/ inner thighs. I recently had a tummy tuck/panni and brachioplasty. Made things fit better without really going down. Even the PS said it was just skin, no fat. So my weight didn't go down much. I never thought I'd be in a size 2. If I rebound a bit, I'll still be thrilled. -
Like said above, stick to your plan. You can do this! You have your tool, time to work it. It WILL work. Have no doubt. It took me just shy of 12 months to lose my weight. I had many 2-3 week stalls. But that was my body adjusting. After the first couple broke, I learned to accept them. You will too. It's part of the process. It takes time for our minds/habits/tastes to change. Our capacity changed in the OR. The others will catch up. Patience. You can do it :-)

....So, there's an easy way to fix fat? Is there an easy way to fix stupid? You should look in to it. That right there is why I didn't tell people at work. Family and friends yes. They know me and love me and get me and supported me. The rest, I don't need the drama. ????

My 600 Pound Life: 2016 Season
amazon replied to Inner Surfer Girl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I agree - her results looked very good. I just wish we could have seen how her thighs turned out (unclothed). They looked great in clothing! I also want to add that it's the first time that I've seen any of them tell the patient to lose more weight before the skin surgery. And she DID it. That was awesome and I think went a long way towards the results she got. -

And she went to Dr. Now...not the others who would always make those remarks "right way". I'd like to think it's a coincidence. -
SLEEVE OR BYPASS? WHY?
amazon replied to LoveMyBypass's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I loved my sweets pre-op and still do (sadly, my sweet tooth was not extracted). I just don't seem to have the same cravings for them as before, but I still want and enjoy some. However, if I over do it, I will dump. Yup, you can dump with the sleeve. I'm not sure that dumping vs. not dumping should be a deciding factor. I think it's pretty unpredictable. I went by my surgeon's recommendation based on my medical situation, and amount of weight to lose. He felt the "simpler" procedure was best for me - and he was right. I'm pretty sure I was told that the mortality rate was the same - the complication rate may not be. But where I go, it is continually compared to gall bladder surgery (mortality). There's lots of good information out there, and it's good to see you doing your research. Keep it up! I think it's just important to keep in mind that which ever you choose, it's just a tool to help get you there. I hope this surgical group has the support program(s) in place to help on your journey. :-) -
How can I reduce inflammation without NSAID?
amazon replied to Dreamagain's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not sure it would help TMJ (which I get too), but to reduce swelling and bruising after plastic surgery I was told to take Arnica Montana. It was ok with the sleeve. Worked like a charm as far as that kind of swelling went. May be worth a try? It's a natural remedy...I'm told you can find it at a health food type store, or I just got it off amazon. I took it 4x a day (4x 30c pellets 4 x a day). Good luck ! -

Has anyone had an improvement in acne?
amazon replied to curlychic32's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I always had awful skin, just awful. A combination of crappy diet and hormones. My skin is so much better now. It didn't happen over night - may have even had a few out breaks post-op. But I look at my skin now and it's so much better. I drink lots of Water, and eat right. IMO that goes a long way towards healthy skin. I still get a pesky zit from time to time, but it comes and goes so fast. Not like the never ending outbreaks I used to deal with. -
Sorry to hear you had staples. Everyone scars and heals differently. I hope you'll heal well..it did take some time for them to fade. In my case it was just glue and steri-strips. Can hardly see a mark 17 months out. Good luck!

My 600 Pound Life: 2016 Season
amazon replied to Inner Surfer Girl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Two weeks off work was ok for a TT and panni for me (I had my arms done too). Could I have used more time off work, sure! But it was manageable. The girl that was at 195lbs...I didn't really understand getting the surgery at that point. If she loses the rest of the weight, which she said she wants to do (you know the "right way"????) shell have just as much loose skin and she'll need more skin surgery. I'm not sure what it got her, unless she wasn't being honest about where she wants to end up weight wise. None of us like looking "deflated" as we are losing our weight. But we have our goal in mind. It just seemed like she wanted to skip to the end. There's no freaking way I'd go through all of this if I had another 50lbs to lose!! And why don't the dr's question it? I know...it's a tv show ???? And yah...both of the guys that had the man-boob jobs I was thinking the same thing. The doc needs a class on anatomy. They don't go there !! For any female wondering, on a breast lift for women...it stays attached. ???? (not that I've had one darn it, but I've seen the operation and researched it) -
338 questions? Seriously ??????

amazon replied to heychelle912's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I firmly believe God created laxatives :-) I've found that making sure I get my Water in every day, and lots of walking, goes a long way in keeping things moving. But if in that situation, when all else fails...a big dose on MOM does it for me. Sorry you're miserable. -
