Count down to Breast Augmentation - woowhoo!
amazon posted a topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I had my final consult for my breast augmentation yesterday. I think I'm starting to get excited! I'm all all paid up. It's set for 4/25. I'll have to get some sharable pictures (before and after) I do have some issues to address - a second surgery on them may be required. We are just going to do the BA and see if I'm happy. Since I'm planning an extended mini-thigh lift and belt lift this summer, anything else I need done (excess skin removal under the arm, or a slight lift) will be done at no additional cost then. So the deets... estimating 350cc (but will have 300-400 on hand). Like most woman, both sides are not created equal, so one side could be 325, and the other 350. She knows what I'm going for, and at this point I have a lot of trust in my surgeon. We've poured over lots of pics together, more than once, and she knows what I want. I'm going with under the muscle, silicone (Mentor Memory Gel), moderate round. She said I may need, or be better off with, the high profile. She'll order both. We talked a lot about the differences and why she thought I might need the high profile. We'll talk again the day of surgery - I think I may let it be her call when she's in there. Man....I have to go get some sports bras this weekend....anyone have any suggestions? I'm guessing I'd want ones that open in front to make life easier! -

All done! Rolled in the the operating room by 7:30am and awake in recovery a little after 10. Pretty darn sore. But that will pass. I get to see them tomorrow at my first post op visit. Here's the before and after... In my sexy surgical bra Ended up with 400cc moderate profile. My surgeon was VERY happen when she came to see me. So I think that's a good sign. -

Lol!! I'm also 53. Looking forward to "perky" When I was obese, I wore 44D. Probably could have gone bigger. I was never fitted. All I have left now is skin. A lift is not going to do it for me. I'd have nipples on ribs. Ick!! Wonder if the guys have run away screaming yet -

@@Spiceyfrog Thanks! i was told about the medical bra - sounds less than comfortable. Have to wear it for 4 or 5 days. Then I can shower and switch to a sports bra (yay). My surgeon said there's no point to go below 300cc. Anyone who she's done who insisted on anything smaller than that was disappointed. So I'm not worried about her going small. I actually prefer to be on the smaller side - so when she said upwards of 400cc for me I think she saw the look on my face, lol. It's a trade off between filling up the loose skin and not being that lady with the big fake boobies. If they could actually go with a cup size, I'd want a C. So when we start talking 400cc, I start to get a little freaked. Wish I could be awake and approve them during surgery :-) The "balancing act" as I call it is tough... We want that symmetry. Good luck with your revision surgery in June!! -
Type 2 Diabetes Blood Sugar/ Hypothyroid
amazon replied to leesee0702's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was able to come off my diabetes meds immediately after surgery (metformin). My thyroid med actually had to be increased, which seemed odd to me. Then when I got close to goal, it stabilized and had to be lowered to what was in tune with my weight. I guess what crap was in my fat stores was making a difference. It finally leveled out after about 16 months. I did have many stalls. I was a "step" loser. Lose for a week or so, then stall for 2 or 3 weeks. Would be frustrating - just had to trust the program. -
by 18 they're too tough to eat.... It will get better. "funks" are temporary. Or rent a chipper...your choice.

It's not about what your friends say. It's how you feel. They're not used to seeing you at a normal weight. As far as maintenance goes, just keep doing what you're doing. That's all it is. Nothing changes. As James said above, your body will choose where it wants to be and sort of equalize. For me, if I eat more, my weight goes up. I bounce a few pounds. And that's ok. I typically have 1100 cal a day. That keeps me stable. If it creeps up, I gain. To drop it, I cut back to about 800 and it comes off in a week. Pretty simple. No panicking. :-) When I first hit maint I was panicking. Then my Nut told me it's business as usual. Don't worry about it. Just keep following the food plan and all will be ok. She was right. The stress disappeared. I had it figured out all ready. Congrats on your success !!

Had my annual mammogram last night. Just roll those puppies out there - how sad!!!!!!!! Yup...implants. Here they come. I've had the consult all ready - that sealed the deal! Now I really have to seriously research....any advice?

@@CowgirlJane Thanks for the feedback. I've gone over pics of what I want. Although we haven't discussed "cc's"'yet, she understands what I'm looking for. I want girls again, but I don't want anything that's going to get in the way (if that makes sense). I'm very active and athletic. Hey...my golf swing is important! Lol. I'd rather go through a lift to remove the excess skin than have big ones to fill up the skin. I'm also small. (I'm a small/extra small in tops and bottoms.). Would look pretty silly IMO with big boobs. It's all about proportion.

@@JamieLogical thank heaven for good bras!! I'm lucky I can mix in some working from home - so I can get it all done this year.
-
@@JamieLogical Thanks - it sounds like we have very similar concerns. Sorry you're going through it again. But I'm sure you'll be happy when it's all done. :-) I was told moving my nipples was an option. Not really a lift, just move them to where they should be (they are a little low, below center line). I don't know if I want to do that. That may wait until I see if I'm happy with where things end up (or down!). This is why I'm choosing things in this order also. I also have a lot of extra under arm skin. She was very conservative with it with the arm lift knowing I was pursuing the implants. Putting volume back will take up some of this. Since there will be a surgery after the implants, she will most likely wait until then to finish removing that final excess skin. I better be done after surgery #3! I know my bank account will be....

I have a surgeon that did my arm lift, tummy tuck, and panni. She is who I had a recent consult with, and am strongly considering going with her. She has a lot of experience with WLS patients and I've been pleased with my experiences so far. A lift won't work for me, I really have no fat tissue (you can see ribs through my boobs, ugh). My skin is pretty thin, and she has concerns about the implant showing through. However - because my nipples are a little low, she's worried about slippage which makes me a better candidate for over the muscle. We could do under (which is how I am leaning), and see if I'm happy with how it looks. I'm going to do an extended mini thigh lift and belt lift later this year (if all goes according to plan). Adjustments can be made then if necessary during the same surgery.
-
It wasn't as bad for me this time. Maybe she didn't compress as much. I have almost no fat left (it's so sad, lol). I think she was making a paninni... In the past, I had plenty, an boy, it hurt!

have fun!! I love Vegas...booking my bday trip today, lol.

But I'm the same person I always was. Really?
amazon replied to gowalking's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I agree 100% ! At first I'd be taken aback by someone who hadn't seen me in forever would say "you're a whole new person!!". I'd argue with them, no I'm not, I'm just smaller! But, I really am a different person - a better person. Kind of like "Lisa 2.0" I'm still me, I just hope a better version :-) I think differently, and as a result, I know I must act differently. But as others have said, same moral compass, ethics, etc. None of that has changed. -
my sleep has totally changed, but I think metal-pause has something to do with it, lol. Most nights I get 3-4 hours and I'm fine. I never would have survived like that before. No way. I lived to sleep! Every so often I manage a couple of good nights sleep and get caught up. But I really don't feel sleep deprived or anything. I do appreciate a nap if I get run down and the chance (OMG I sound old!) But I'd say my actual "need" for sleep is much less, and my energy level is 100X better.

Triglycerides up 5 months post-op?
amazon replied to gpmed's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My lipids went a little crazy, that is up, during my first 6 months of weight loss. My statin was actually increased. Then it came down and my levels are the best they've ever been. Especially my triglycerides. They've never been better. Unless you can attribute it to your diet, I think it could be like other things we may store in our fat. For me, once I got rid of most of the weight, those stores were gone. -

I don't see a way to unsubscribe from a thread? That was a convenient function earlier. Also, it used to zoom in...for us old eyes, lol. Is that gone? I couldn't get it to do it. But it is a nicely polished interface :-) -
I've heard of people's tastes changing post op, especially in regard to whether they still like their Protein Shakes. That didn't happen to me. But there are soooo many kinds out there. It's very important to get your protein in. I'd suggest trying different ones until you find one(s) you like again. You can order samples from Nashua Nutrition. And if I recall correctly, you can get singles at GNC and Vitamin Shoppe. Great job on your progress!!

Really missing coffee
amazon replied to Amelie2016's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been struggling with my reflux lately. Having a flare up as I type this ️ I have my 18 month follow up next week. I expect I'll be instructed to knock off any coffee leaded or unleaded and see if it improves. Some days it's one cup (of either) some days a few. Others none...I also like tea, and I have decaf. Just not looking forward to giving up my hot beverages of choice. . But reflux is no fun. And the Starbucks coldbrew is so smooth. Yum. -
Dannon Light & Fit greek yogurts, the 80 cal ones were my favs. Until ...they came out the the 100 cal chocolate on top variety. Gah!!! Haven't gone back since, lol. Same protein and carbs. Yum!!!
