Pain in the middle of my rib cage

Yes definitely sounds like heartburn/reflux/gas pains. With all acid meds you need to take at least 30 mins before eating. The rocking movement is always helpful and gravity works too so a walk will help. Another idea, since it's bothering you first thing in the morning, is to look into a pillow wedge. Maybe the wedge will help prevent everything from building up overnight and you can at least get going in the morning without thinking about it.
  2. @@BitterSweet* is probably right. It's probably either anemia, Vitamin D, or something similar. If it was something urgent they would have worked you in right away. I had anemia prior to surgery and low Vit D but I was only on a low daily supplement for each. Post surgery I'm even lower so I'm on an Iron with Calcium to absorb easier and I have to take the 50mu of Vit D for 6 weeks, 3 times a week, and then have more bloodwork. I think most people get hit with these so I wouldn't worry too much. If you are feeling extra fatigued, that could be an indication of either.

How Long Was Your 3 Week Stall?

I think my stall has finally broken after about 10 days!

How Long Was Your 3 Week Stall?

Ok so I should definitely wait at least a couple weeks apparently before I start changing anything to try to get the scale moving. Depressing but it's only a bump in the road. I can already tell a major difference in the way I feel after losing the 30 immediately following surgery. I just can't wait to see what it feels like with the rest of my weight off.

How Long Was Your 3 Week Stall?

WOW THREE WEEKS!!! I might die of f frustration if it last that long. I'm not surprised mine started around 2 weeks, cause I dropped 30 pounds since 5 days preop when i started my liquid diet. I just hope that doesn't mean my stall is going to longer to let everything catch up. Congrats on your steady loss! Hope I can say the same soon.

    I HAD MY SURGERY

Well, this past Wednesday as planned, I had my surgery. Gastric sleeve. OH MY GOD I WAS MISERABLE!!! We read all these stories about success and how wonderful everything is after the surgery. I never thought about how miserable I would be waking up after surgery. You can't move, you can't drink, can't stretch, nothing. But, as the days go by, things get a little easier. I have a long way to go but I'm recovering nicely. I'm 4 days post op and I'm able to move around on my own for the most part as long as it doesn't involve bending over. I'm down 15 lbs since starting my Preop diet 5 days before surgery. It's funny because I keep thinking this recovery would be so much easier if I were skinny. Oh the irony.

    I HAD MY SURGERY

I promise, unless you have some kind of complication, every day gets a little better.

    I HAD MY SURGERY

My surgeon has me on clear liquids for the first two weeks post op. The only protein shakes I can have are the clear isopure drinks.

    I HAD MY SURGERY

We thought it might be the IV too but I've been off IV 24 hrs now and like clockwork it goes back up when the meds wear off. I have a pcp appointment Monday to follow up. Hopefully it's under control by then.

    I HAD MY SURGERY

Omg I had initially planned to be alone because I'm working out of state and had my surgery where I'm working. Thankfully my husband decided to join me. I couldn't have done this without him. Has anyone else had trouble with blood pressure? I don't normally have high bp but ever since the surgery it keeps spiking to the 180/120 range. I'm being medicated for it. Hope it passes soon.

Check in: Week of Nov 17th Sleevers!

I'm on day two of my 5 day preop (see my previous post on this thread) and I have a full blown, raging sinus infection. I'm pushing liquids and any remedy I can think of to get rid of this as quick as possible. I hope I can get rid of this before Wednesday.

    Smoking....

I quit smoking almost 13 weeks ago because my surgeon required me to be NICOTINE free for 90 days prior to surgery. He also required me to pass 3 nicotine test at 30 day intervals to prove this. I used Chantix because I knew I wouldn't be able to do it on my own. And anyone posting on this forum that says anything about not being strong enough to quit cold turkey needs to go take a good look in the mirror. They're on this forum because they don't have willpower made of stone either. I can tell you at 13 weeks smoke free and 6 days preop, it's the best decision I ever made. Of course I still have moments where I think "I could smoke" but I don't give in. I haven't noticed any change in health or the way things smell. The only difference is now I don't smoke. I didn't waste my time or money on the vapor cigs. They may work for some, they wouldn't have for me because I enjoyed smoking too much. I smoked for 15 years. Between being a non smoker and my surgery next week, I know I have fully committed myself to being healthier and to the journey that lies ahead. The warnings about smoking and surgery are true. Nicotine (NOT JUST SMOKE) constricts your blood vessels and keeps you from healing. Do you really want to do a life changing surgery just to have it all ruined because your body can't heal? Good Luck to you! Feel free to message me if you have any questions or concerns about Chantix. In my opinion, it's a miracle drug.

Check in: Week of Nov 17th Sleevers!

Wow I feel kind of unique in my preop diet. My surgery is the 19th but I only have 5 days preop diet starting on the 14th. Strictly liquids (including Protein shakes). I'll let you know how it goes once I start.

    Shapewear?

Check the body suits from JC Penny. They pricey, around $52, but awesome. You wear a regular bra but they suck in the tummy and butt and even have shorts attached so everything is smoothed out.

@@Mggr14 I'm actually having my surgery in PA. I'm up here working until next January. I do however live in Wilmington so I will be visiting the bariatric COE at CF Regional I think for any long term follow ups. My cousin just had hers done in Charlotte but I don't know the name of her surgeon.

    BSBS NC

I have BCBS NC and I'm 3 weeks preop. I started this journey back in June. As of July 1, they eliminated the 6 month diet requirement. I was a smoker so my surgeon required 90 days nicotine free (I'm 11 weeks yesterday) which is what has taken me so long. Honestly, I just did everything my surgeon's office required of me which included blood work, ekg, psych, NUT (psych and NUT are both required by BCBS too), ekg, & chest xray. Plus 3 nicotine test 30 days apart. As soon as I had everything done besides the nicotine test (I had one done at that point) my surgeon's office submitted me for approval. I didn't even know they did that because I thought I would have to wait till the 3 nicotine tests were done. I only found out they even submitted me because my surgeon's office called to tell me I was approved and to schedule my surgery. So I can't offer any advice on how long the wait was but I can tell you that just by doing what my surgeon required, I was approved no problem. My out of pocket max is $1500 and I'm at $1200 just getting everything done pre-op so my surgery will only cost me about $300 (plus the OUTRAGEOUS monthly premium).

    Isopure clear protein drinks

I like the red flavor. The grape tastes like smelly feet.
  24. Preop 11/5 and surgery 11/19 for me! My PA asked me if I was sure I wanted to be on a post op liquid diet over thanksgiving....I told her if that mattered to me at all I wouldn't be going through all this. BRING IT ON!!! Oh and by the way, I'm also almost 8 weeks nicotine free! This journey finally gave me the motivation to quit smoking.
  25. I started typing a long winded, critical post until i finally realized I could type till I'm blue in the face and it wouldn't make a difference. All I can say is, I would report any parent even considering this to DSS. Shameful.
