Thanks Draven. I know they've had a numer of patients with slipped bands where some have reverted to having the sleeve done and some who no longer have the band but I'm not sure that these would be considered the fault of the doctor. I am considering speaking to another surgeon about where I stand financially if I decide to go ahead with someone else. I am also considering having it removed. I don't fancy the risk of more surgery if something goes wrong again. On the other hand, I am afraid I will put on even more weight if I don't keep it. The whole point of the surgery was to help control my food intake which I struggle with without the band!

Thanks guys, I am definitely questioning the doctor situation. These doctors are meant to be reputable and came recommended by my GP. It could be just bad luck or maybe it's them, either way, I have a lot of thinking to do before I make a decision. Thanks again.

To my fellow November Nymphs, I have to say I am very upset to find out that I have a leak in my band. For those who don't remember, I was originally banded in 2007 only to find out 8 months later that my band had not been put in correctly which they rectified at no cost to me. For months I questioned why I could eat so much with with 9 cc in my band until they decided to check it out for me. They had wrapped the band around the fat tissue, not my stomach. I looked into taking legal action but decided aganst it. I lost 21 kilos, 12 kilos through my own efforts in the first 8 months. I went for a fill last year because I didn't have much restriction expecting the extra .5 cc would give me enough restriction to get back on track. I noticed I could eat more than I thought I should at 7.5 cc but since I was following a Weight Watchers diet decided not to have any more fill put in. I went off track with the diet because I was able to eat way too much. I could eat chicken burgers with chips and still hungry for more food later. Occasionally I would get stuck but mostly eating anything I wanted. After putting on more weight, I decided I needed to see the doctor for more restriction. He said he would not put more in without an x-ray. The barium meal showed that the fluid was going down too quickly. When I saw the doctor again, he said that I may have a leak so he took all the fluid out but only managed to get 1.5 cc out of the band. I was devastated that I now have to go for more surgery. He said if the leak is at the port, it would only require minor surgery but if they find the leak is elsewhere, they would replace band. I am in a delemma about what to do and would appreciate some advice. I have lost confidence with the doctor, particularly after the first fiasco.

Btw, my current weight is 198 lbs so based on my ticker, I need to lose 11 lbs to get back there. Not bad considering I put almost half my weight back on.

Hi Cindy, it is Winter here but the sun just keeps on shining! Soon to be Spring. I have been up and down too with the weight but hopefully should get back down in the next few months. I have been following WW and lost a few lbs again. I have my band pretty lose right now so I am not really utilising it. I threw all the good food when it was tight so trying to work on my own for now. Good luck with getting those lbs off and with your tummy tuck. Take care.

PS looking at my ticker, I had planned to lose a lot more than I said in my earlier post. I must say I would be happy just getting down another 30 lbs at this stage.

Hi Wendy, you are definitely one of the success stories on here. Congratulations! I am like Linda, never could get the band at the right level and ended up throwing most good food. I am finding being on WW is good... still eating but choosing the healthier things more often than the junk... hope I can stick with it! Good luck Linda, I understand your pain. If you're not already doing it, I would suggest WW as it helps you lose weight as well as lets you enjoy the odd treat. Keep posting... I'm glad I've come back to check things out on here. Take care.

Hi Everyone, Congratulations Jill and stI24nger. I haven't been as successful as you guys... I struggled with the band... first it was put in incorrectly and had to be redone. My fill has never been right... either too little or too much. I did lose approx 40 lbs of 70 lbs which I wanted to lose. I put close to half back on over the last year or so and now have managed to lose some of it again. Instead of going tight on the band, I decided to try WW as well. I think that is the best way to go as I'm eating much healthier food whereas with a tight band I would throw up the good food and eat rubbish. I am still approx 14 lbs off getting back to where I was... the challenge now is get that off and the other 30 lbs I planned to lose previously. I walk most days and stick to healthy eating most of the time... hopefully I should be closer to goal by the end of the year... fingers crossed. I have kept in touch with a few people via FB. One had to have her band removed early in the piece and one of them had it removed and had a sleeve done instead. As far as I know she has lost her weight and kept it off. In some ways, I wish I never had it done but on the other hand, I have kept off 20+ pounds for 5 years which I've never managed to do before. Stay in touch as I think it's nice to see what people are up to.

Great to hear Linda... the band is fantastic for keeping the weight off. I'm still struggling to get more weight off. I lost a few more lbs but I keep going up and down, so until I maintain it, I'm not counting it. Take care and keep us posted.
