    Don't look at me!!!!

I've always been confident, fat or not (I've been 20 kilos lighter in the past). I'm a great dancer so have always attracted positive attention. My mum (God bless her soul) always said that if I was slim I'd walk the streets naked because of my confidence. Oh well, she's wrong because that aint going to happen!! Over the years I've had many friends say that I wouldn't be the same if I was slim and others have said they don't see me as fat. Weird isn't it? Bottom line is I'm confident but have many issues which led to the weight in the first place.
  2. Your history helps people know where you're coming from so it's good that you've shared with us. I say do it... I wish I had done it when I was younger. I know a 23yo girl who did it 2 years ago and lost 40 kilos (88lbs) and she is so happy... said she's never regretted it. Look into thoroughly before you do it, so your well informed. Good luck with your decision.

    New Face

Welcome John. I've been banded for 2 1/2 weeks and other than the first few days, all has been well. I'm glad I made the decision to do this but admit I was really anxious in the 2 months prior to the op. If I'd known I would get through it so well, I would not have put myself through so much stress. Good luck with your decision... you'll find heaps of advice on this site.

    Why is there no name???

So true Tish! :clap2: What's funny about all this is I was reading one of the rant n rave threads on the weekend... it went back as far as 2005/6 and there were comments made about beings newbies... by some people who are doing it to the newbies now. Now isn't that what happens in school??
  5. I've been banded just ove 2 weeks and other than the first couple of days in hospital, all has been well. Was off my meds after Day 2... healed pretty quickly. Have been following my dr's orders which really helps. I'm halfway through the mushies stage and have my next dr's appoint on 27 nov... may end up with a fill at that time.

    How much food/meal?

Double ckick on your ticker to go to the site and redo your stats, copy and then go to Edit Signature and copy it over the old one and save.
  7. I was told by the dietician to cut down about a week before the op which I kind of did but that's it. Maybe the blood test showed a healthy liver... never did ask. Just glad I didn't have to do the Optifast prior... my willpower at that time was not the best. Good luck with it, it will definitely be worth it in the end.

    New to forum

Welcome to the forum. Is there a reason for sleeping in the recliner?
  9. Guys you are not alone with these thoughts. I was so anxious prior to my surgery that I couldn't stop eating... lucky my dr didn't need me to do a pre-op diet. It's now over 2 weeks since my banding and I feel great.

    Disgusted

Fat people and guilt seem to go hand in hand. So you made a mistake... no point in beating yourself up about it... no doubt you've lived your life doing that. As Lapbandit said, have something healthy to eat and forget that you deviated from your plan. If it gets too hard, rather than go for the non healthy choice again, come on here and talk about it first... give people a chance to steer you in the right direction. Good luck.

    How much food/meal?

I was told I could have 1/2 cup of mushies 3 times a day, breakfast, lunch, dinner. Then in between if hungry to have 1/2 cup of yoghurt, mushy fruit etc. I had a mashed boiled egg and avocado for lunch today. About an hour later had a little mashed up fruit from a can with a little light custard... must admit it was too soon after... felt tight around the stomach. I only had it because I felt like it rather than hungry. Felt fine about 1/2 hr after that but shouldn't make a habit of it. :funscale:

Your body will certainly tell you when to stop Steph... that's why we need to keep listening. Even more so when you start your mushies. I haven't had problems but sometimes I know when I've eaten too fast. Remember, it's like we're toddlers, learning to walk again.

    Australian Bandsters Chat Thread

Hey that's ok, you've done extremely well sticking it out for 2 weeks... as I said previously, I couldn't have. I wish your surgery had been sooner so we could be doing this at the same time. At least you will be at the mushy stage at xmas... so much easier than liquids.

I had my op with Dr Liebman & Dr Smith and have been feeling great. They must have the magic touch! I was lucky to get it done so soon but as they couldn't get surgery time at the RNS Prvate Hospital for everyone, they booked some time at the Sydney Adventist Hospital which brought my surgery forward 1 month... was glad about that and the Sand is only 10 mins away from where I live. I think they're hard to get into because of the publicity they got with Mikey Robbins.

All my pain went after about a week or so. Walking is good but if you're tired, I'd do a little less. I was tired for a few days after and worked from home so I wouldn't have to drive. Just take care of yourself and don't get out there too soon.

    Fatso!

Ignorant people are usually the ones who offend the most... sounds like granny was the one who needed to be told, allowing these girls to carry on that way. I would have told them straight that they are being offensive to you and their dogs deserve better owners. I'm not backwards in coming forward with people like that... trash. I know it's hard, especially when it's unexpected... just remember you're better than that and no matter what size you are, you care about people and their feelings!
  20. I woke up in excruciating pain and was crying and saying to my sister why did I do this, why wasn't I strong enough to diet blah blah blah... as soon as the pain killers hit all was okay... such a wous! That said, after a couple of days in hospital things were great and I'm breezing through it now. :whoo: Don't know how I'll be when I start eating normal food or after my first fill... I just take it a day at a time.

    Water

Hi Steph, I must say I wasn't big on drinking water... spoke to the nurse and she said as long as I was drinking enough of everything else, eg protein drinks, then it was ok. She said as long as I wasn't feeling dehydrated or weak. Of course, you need to check with your dr's office.

    New to the Board

Welcome and congratulations on your date.:clap2: I came here looking for reassurance prior to my banding and found it to be very helpful. I was banded on 1 Nov and have had a really good run so far. Everyone's here to help. I agree with Kristin... any major issues should be discussed with your dr.

    Why is there no name???

Thanks Linda... I like being on here to see people's progress and try and help people as I was helped in the initial stages. I'm not easily intimidated but at the same time I didn't want to fight for my right to be here! In the end, I decided to ignore the ignorant people and use this site for the the purpose it was intended. Good luck to all of us on this fabulous journey!! :whoo::whoo:
  24. Emotions are most likely the cause that got us to this point in the first, so I'd be surprised if they didn't do your op because of your anxiety. Remember once they stick the need in, you're out like a light so you don't have enough time to get into a full blown panic attack. Why don't you call your dr's office and speak to them... at least they will tell you from experience what will happen.

I hate it when people post just to post.....

People take it out of here and put it into the other forums which then starts something bigger than it should be. I came to this board to get help prior to my surgery and thought it was very helpful (except for some of the nasty comments I saw) and I don't want people to feel intimated when they first come on here... you could save someones life! I have had a great run with my band so far and don't need the support any more, so reading these nasty posts has me thinking it's time to move on.
