Query: Proper Interval Between Eating And Drinking
Sades replied to bandpal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've just finished the mushies stage and I had no problem drinking 1/2 hour after eating. It may change after I get my fill. -
How long have you had your band and are you still happy?
Sades replied to Beka's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
4 weeks, still happy with my decision. -
It's not an easy decision, no matter how old you are. I am happy with my band and my progress so far... only been 4 weeks for me. I dieted on and off all my life but never reaching my goal before going back the other way. I felt fine with my body, especially when I was at the lower end of my weight loss... had no problems meeting guys, making friends etc. What made me decide to go ahead with the surgery is my health... things started going wrong in the last 4-5 years, BP, diabetes & sleep apnea. I knew it was time to get serious about this. The decision has to be yours, no matter what the doctor says. Do you have any health problems yet? If not, then if you think you can do it on your own, I certainly would continue to do so. Also remember that these boards are for people who need support, so you are always going to get people talking about the negative side effects... there are many of us out there who are breezing through it. Hope I haven't jinxed myself!! Good luck with your decision.

I must say I noticed that I have been feeling a little hungry, ie, I am getting hungry in less time than I used to. The swelling must be really going down. It only takes something small to stop the hunger though so I'm still sticking to the plan. B: 1 weetbix & 1/2 banana in skim milk Snack: skim latte L: 2 cruskets with light cream cheese Snack: low fat chocolate mousse Late afternoon: 1/2 cup of broth D: 3/4 cup leftover curry Snack: frozen fruit & yoghurt bar I am finding I'm still not drinking enough.

Sorry to hear that you received devastating news. We all react in different ways when that happens but you can bet your bottom dollar that most of us will also turn to food. Tomorrow is another day and I'm sure you'll come out fighting! Take care and try not to be so hard on yourself.

Got banded on Friday November 23rd
Sades replied to Kimberly145's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations to both of you on your banding. I hope it all goes well for you. -
How quickly the month has passed... 6 days to go I saw Sarah this afternoon and she told me to start on solids tonight. I'm going back on 12 Dec for my first fill. She wanted me to test out different solids before I have a fill so I know what foods I can take down. I had about 3/4 cup of curried prawns & rice and it went down without any problems. I hope everything else is as good. Can't wait for you to be banded!!

It was my first operation as well and I was terrified that I would die or become a vegetable. Stupid thoughts that made me anxious for more than 2 months prior, put on 9 lbs in that time from over eating to suppress those feelings. Needless to say, I came out of it with no major problems and have lost 21.5 lbs to boot. Just remember that the odds are on your side. :whoo::whoo:

Started on solids tonight after 2 weeks of fluids and 2 weeks of mushies. Today I had... B: 1 weetbix & a 1/3 of a banana in skim milk Snack: small skim latte Lunch: 1/2 cup baked Beans Snack: Low fat chocolate mousse Dinner: Home made curried prawns & rice Snack: Low fat frozen fruit & yoghart bar Not sure what the calories, haven't started counting them yet.

That's definitely what I was doing before banding... my family always made fun of me because even after complaining I was full, I would be snacking on something new. My argument was, how else can I maintain a body like mine!
-
I'm sorry to hear that Candy. I would have been devastated if that happened to me. It was bad enough waiting the first time. Just keep chatting... the time will come before you know it. Good luck!
-
While on mushies, I was told 1/2 cup of food 3 times a day and if hungry then have 1/2 cup of yoghurt, pureed fruit etc. My dr told me that when I'm on solids, I would be eating 1 cup of food 3 times a day, around 1,000 cals a day. I can't imagine not having the odd snack but only time will tell.

I was feeling like that on Sunday, not hungry but bored so found myself going in and out of the kitchen all day. Didn't have anything to eat but reminded me why I was overweight in the first place.
-
I drink green tea as well. I only drink 1 cup a day though. It can help move the bowels... do you find that?
-
I don't usually eat anything until I get to the office, so bekkie for me is usually between 9.30 - 10am. I'm not particularly hungry but eat anyway. I usually feel hungry if I don't eat when I get the first twinge.
-
Great idea having this thread because I was just looking at a couple of new threads and thought I can't keep up with all the new people. So I say congratulations and good luck to everyone having surgery this week... let us know how it goes. :whoo::whoo:

Rants and Raves become NOT for newbies
Sades replied to losingjusme's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
I don't know why this is such a big deal. If you accidentally go in there you don't have to keep reading. No different to a porn site... you very quickly know you're in there and it just takes one click to get out again. -
Has anyone ever advanced post op food phase ealier than you were supposed to?

I wasn't allowed coffee in the fluid stage but was told it was okay once I was on mushies (only have one skim latte a day). I thought no coffee because it dehydrates you. I'm not a big coffee drinker so it hasn't been a problem for me. It's more a social thing... we have a cafe in our building at work and I meet up with some people for a coffee in our morning break. -

I was banded on 1 Nov and have lost 21lbs. I'm not sure why some people lose more than others. I am still on mushies so this may change when I move to solids. I only went back to exercising yesterday... only did a 1/2 hour walk but it took a lot out of me for some reason. Are you sticking to the plan? I'm eating mostly low fat foods which is probably helping. My view about this process is not that the band will do all the work for me. I had this op because every other time I've lost weight, it's all come back again within a year or so whereas the band will help to keep it off. Good luck with finding your restriction!
