When Is Your First Fill After Surgery? I am able to eat more food now!!
Sades replied to Summer87's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At the moment I am eating solids (1st fill 12 Dec) and in the last few days have found myself eating way too fast but with no problems. Most of the food I eat is not too solid (not big on meat) and I stick to about 1/2 - 3/4 cup of food at a time. I hope once I get a fill my body will let me know to slow down again. Of course now that I've put it out there, I will have to make the effort to slow down, even without the fill !! :bounce::bounce: -
Must say I'm finding myself wanting more food at the moment... still sticking with the plan though. B: 1 weetbix & a 1/2 of a banana in skim milk Snack: small skim latte Lunch: 1/2 cup refied beans with lite cheese melted on top, spoon of low fat sour cream & spoon of avocado on top Snack: Nectarine Dinner: 3/4 cup Left over fried rice no pork or ham Snack: 1/2 cup canned fruit & light custard & 1/2 banana My serves are creeping up a bit to about 3/4 cup full. Hopefully I will want less after my fill on 12 December.

I'm very sorry to hear about your husband. I also thought it was a standard test.

4 weeks post-op and DIZZY!
Sades replied to Forestcat5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Agree about the BP meds. My regular doctor took my BP and it was 125/75 so she wrote me a script for half the dose. She said she didn't want my BP to go down suddenly. She said to give it a week or so and then go on the new ones. -
Sorry to hear about the liver, hope you get well soon.

Welcome Lish and congratulations on your date ! :whoo::whoo: 8 kids, wow, you must have been busy !! :girl_hug: I came from a big family 9 kids but we lost 2 growing up so we were 7 over the years. There's a thread for December 07 bandsters so you'll find plenty of people who will be banded in December... it's a good idea because you are all moving stages around the same time. If you can't find it come back here and I'll give you more directions. Good luck.

Anyone else lost interest in food?
Sades replied to BlueEyedKitty's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Good advice Transformer... I don't freeze food but I do some of what you are doing. I have small cans of tuna and baked Beans handy at work for those times that I need a quick meal. I add things to them as well. Because I live with my sister etc (decided to move back to the family home around 10 years ago), it is easy for me because there is always some food around which I can choose small meals from. If not, there's always an egg. I also have lean cuisine type meals in the freezer but haven't attempted them yet. The way I see it, if you keep your house full of interesting healthy foods then you will always have something to eat to help lose the weight. 65 lbs in a year is nothing to be sneezed at... I'd be happy with that! Good luck with the rest of your loss. -
Thanks Kristin. By the way, the Pizza Parlour story wasn't me... but she was good to resist the temptation! :clap2::clap2:

Help - Post surgery problems
Sades replied to caringhusband's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's unfortunate that she's had all these problems on top of the band operation. If she can get past this, she will be glad she put it in. It takes a week or so to start feeling normal, some less time, some take longer. The first couple of days for me weren't the best and I felt some regret but that soon went away. Of course if I had to go through what she has it may be a different story. I say, just hang in there for a little while longer before making such a big decision. -
When I laughed too much in the early days, I just held onto my stomach so it wouldn't hurt so much, doubt if it would do any damage... unless you were rolling about on the floor at the time that is !! :bounce::bounce::eyebrows:

That's for sure Danna! :whoo::whoo: Wow only 2 days to go. Time is jusy flying now. Let me know how you go. Good luck! :clap2::clap2:

It sure is, the best thing i've done in a long while. I'm happy with my results. I think it should slow down soon but I haven't really started on a full exercise regime yet. Only had a couple of walks and one night of dancing so far.

Hi Rhonda, I'm from Sydney... welcome to the site. Sounds like you've been doing really well so far. I have been banded for just over 4 weeks and have lost 10.6kgs since the operation, so I'm definitely on track. Enjoy your time here, lots of good advice and great people (yes, me included!! :bounce:).

Anyone else lost interest in food?

I have been banded just over 4 weeks now and have been on solids for 4 days now. I haven't lost interest in food but I must say when I went to the cafe downstairs from my office yesterday, I stood there for a few minutes looking at everything and nothing appealed to me so I walked out. I had some pureed fruit, jelly & light custard in the fridge so I had that for lunch. Then I had a nectarine a little later. I usually have some protein etc for lunch but I listened to my body and it worked for me. I haven't been at this long enough to advise you but why can't you eat some of the foods you used to like in smaller portions and see if that helps... I don't mean junk food. Good luck. -
Congratulations, hope it all went well for you. :whoo::whoo:

Totally agree with everyone. For me getting on a program and losing weight has not been the problem, it's when I get to the point where somehow the motivation wanes and I slowly but surely start going in reverse. At first I tell myself that I'll be fine, I can easily lose those 2kgs again, then it turns to 4kgs... again telling myself that's not so bad... 6kgs and moving fast towards the unhappy & fat woman I thought I left behind. 14kgs back on and I sit wondering what went wrong... I chose this surgery because I never want to feel that helpless again.
-
Well I'm just over 4 weeks out and am on solids now. Haven't had any problems with anything I've eaten so far. Only thing is I have to eat slower... sometimes don't give my self a chance to realise I'm full. I haven't been feeling too hungry, just need to eat on time. My first fill is 12 December and I have lost 10.6kgs / 23.5lbs since surgery... definitely not complaining about that !! I've started doing some walking but will make sure that I do a lot more in the coming week. Looks like most of us have had a really good journey so far and I hope it stays that way. Good luck to everyone.
-
Congrats Tish... at least it's before the new year. Good luck!
-
Congratulations, another survivor !! :whoo: Sounds like it might be the swelling doing that. How long are you on fluids for? I had to do fluids for 2 weeks, then mushies for 2 weeks and now I am on solids. Follow the rules and you should be fine.
