Donna you're doing so well... an inspiration to all. Same to the rest of you. I can't wait to lose my next 20 lbs (29 off so far). Weight loss has always been that way for me... heaps at the beginning then slows down to almost nothing. Of course it doesn't help that the motivation slows down as well. I'm determined not to let that happen this time.

I haven't lost anything since just before the NY but I know why that is. Too much food. I am walking pretty much every day but my intake hasn't been the greatest. I start off okay but by the end of the day you'd think I was a garbage disposal... I am determined to keep my intake under 1000 calories this week. I am eating more because I can but in reality if I stop to think about it, I'm not actually hungry. I hadn't eaten anything for a couple of hours yesterday and started to feel a little hungry but it didn't take much to appease that. It's definitely a head thing. More restriction will help stop the amount of food I can take in though, so I am looking forward to my 2nd fill on 23rd.

Does it look infected? Mine was red and hot after my first fill... I ended up on antibiotics. I recommend you talk to your doctor.

Wake-up Call....Recommiting to my band!
Sades replied to Jessiebear's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Agree, time to get it going again!:Banane07: -
At least the band is reversable and half your insides aren't being cut out. I would never have considered RNY if it was suggested to me. Basically I am a chicken.
-
I never had any issues because I only ever considered the band... that was scarey enough. I also decided really quickly and in no time it over and done with. Of course I had doubts in those weeks prior but from what I read on here they were normal fears. Good luck with your decision.

Sounds awful, glad that it wasn't worse... at least you are still alive and have your health. What is your plan of action for keeping the weight off and losing more?

Wake-up Call....Recommiting to my band!
Sades replied to Jessiebear's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've been recommitting every day for the last 3 weeks... think this time it might work! Congratulations on the 90 lbs. I have lost 29 lbs (may have put a couple back on but not weighing myself right now). I have another 57 to go to get to goal. -

Nymph's Valentine's Day Challenge Week 1 (1/10/07)
Sades replied to hollyberries's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I know it's not going to be easy but if I work on it until my fill on 23rd then hopefully after I will be restricted enough to make it a little easier. We just need to hang in there. -
Nymph's Valentine's Day Challenge Week 1 (1/10/07)
Sades replied to hollyberries's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
For sure Longhorn... I know we will get there... this is obviously a period where we are not breezing through like at the beginning. I had such an amazing run in the first 6 weeks so I should be grateful. 10 lbs... doesn't sound like much so should be achievable. -

For now I am not weighing myself so no update. Hopefully will have an update next week. -
It can be frustrating watching the scales... all good when you are going down but off putting when you go the other way. I'm keeping away from them at the moment.

I am back, banded a year ago
Sades replied to pattigail's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations Pattigail & Tammy, 100 lbs each, now that's an achievement... certainly gives me hope!! -
Congratulations Julia, it's a nice feeling when you get there. Thanks for your words of wisdom Longhorn. I'm very happy with what I've achieved so far, just expected to be at least another 10 lbs down by now. At least I still have a month left to lose it for the next challenge!

I only have 2 mls in a 10 mls band so I am able to eat pretty much anything I want at the moment. I am trying not to but it doesn't always work. I know that once I get more restriction it will easier but you've got me worried now since yours is almost full. I am not a big meat eater but I do understand that if you have your protein first, veggies next and then whatever that the protein should make you full. I know someone personally who has the band and has lost all her weight and kept it off in the last 2 years and only eats very small portions because of her restriction. She doesn't seem to have any problems so I'm hoping I end up with that kind of restriction. I am okay on diets but I never last more than 1 year or so before I start putting the weight back on. The impression I get from people on here is that you do have to stick to a certain amount of calories and exercise in order to get the weight off. I guess you might need to start logging your calories to see if you are eating more than you need to lose the weight. I know when I was eating under 1,000 calories, I was losing weight. I'm at a standstill at the moment. Good luck, hope things change for you.

Not too long to go now before my next fill. I know I still may be able to eat after that one but it's got to be better than what's happening now... I can eat heaps more than I was while restricted and I know there are many people on here who would say to use more willpower but it's easier said than done. I definitely am trying to control it and definitely making sure I exercise most days so I don't put any weight on but I want the band at a point where it is doing the job it should be. Right now it feels like I never even had the op.

Newby here lots of questions
Sades replied to Cookinmom's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have been banded over 2 months now and have lost 29 lbs, mostly in the first 6-7 weeks. I may have put on a couple over the holidays but I'm putting off weighing myself for a little while. I need to get a bit more restriction happening so I can get the next 29 lbs off but in the meantime going for lots of walks. I am very glad I did this and believe it's going to help me lose all my weight this time rather than what I usually do which is to go totally the other way after losing. I also know it will help keep it off. -
I find that when I set the alarm to get up for a walk, if I don't get up straight away I convince myself not to do it. I went about 3 days without a walk doing that so I forced myself to get up on Thursday and have walked every day since. Just came back from an hour's walk.. I am going to drive the car the same route so I can see how far I am actually walking in that time. My suggestion is set the alarm and jump out of bed. Also have your walking gear ready to put on straight away. I usually go to the bathroom, brush my teeth and then go. I always feel great afterwards.

Apple juice has really helped me when something gets stuck. It may take a few sips but works wonders.

Apple juice does the trick for me when I get stuck. Lucky I haven't needed to throw up since my first 2 days of surgery... I threw some tablets I took.

I have been walking almost every day since the end of December. I will be going for another long walk today. I plan to get back to aqua aerobics when the classes start again at the end of January.
