I was thinking about you as well Longhorn. Glad to hear your restriction is good. I've eaten very little today but not hungry, so that's great. I haven't eaten solids yet but so far no side effects either. I feel so much better after all those weeks of no restriction. Shortgal I'm sure your time will come. I waited so long to get this, hope it lasts. I was told to go back in 4 weeks to see how I'm going.

Bandsters hell is what I've been going through the last 3+ weeks. Definitely the period where you no longer have restriction and can eat anything and everything and all that good work done in the first 6 weeks or so looks like going out the door. Lucky I only put on very little which should easily fall off now that I've had my 2nd fill.

Very very sad. I heard on the way to work and couldn't believe it. Another Aussie lost to us and so young... his poor parents & family. My heart goes out to them.

Today was my band fill day, now have 5cc in a 10cc band. I definitely wasn't feeling hungry today. Mid morning: 1 mug of Sustigen (protein shake) Late morning - Lunch: 1 banana Mid afternoon: 1 skim latte Dinner: 1/2 avocado; small baked potato with light cream cheese Snack: 1/2 cup jelly, 2 slices of canned peaches & light custard Calories: 480 approx Hopefully if I can maintain my intake, I should be able to lose 10 lbs in the next couple of weeks.

Going for my walk this morning. Didn't get to do one yesterday.

Good luck Benson... you'll be right. Keep us posted, both of you.

This is so normal. I don't really have any advice because I was anxious right up until they put the needle in me. Of course was out like a light and woke up banded. Just remember that thousands of people have been banded and come through it without any problems and you will too. Good luck.

Even 2 weeks restriction would be good at this point... might get a few pounds off in that time. I try to resist the wrong foods but can't always do it. Good on you Shortgal for resisting the pizza. I guess for me right now it feels like I was on a diet and lost some weight and now I'm off it again ... not too different to how I've always done it in the past. I'm trying not to be impatient about this but my motivation is dwindling.

It's definitely frustrating doing this without restriction. My 2cc in a 10cc band is not doing it for me. I went out for lunch and dinner today and on both occasions I had no problem finishing my meal. The meals I ordered weren't very big but way too big for a bander. My fill appointment is at 9am on Wednesday and I hope I get enough to give me a chance to get the weight loss moving again. If I wanted to do it with willpower alone I wouldn't have gone through an operation or have spent this much money.

Went for a 50 min walk this morning. Doing that every day except for the odd day off.

Fantastic Sue, what an achievement. It just shows it can be done and in such a short time.

I wonder if Ishould request a new surgery date?
Sades replied to planning4thin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doctor didn't tell me to go on a pre op diet so I was out of control with my food intake prior to the op, even put on weight. I guess my liver was okay from the tests so didn't need it. You've lost 7 lbs so that should help. Talk to your doctor as he's the only one who knows what state your liver is in and whether you should go ahead with the op at this time. -
The way I see it is you can stick to what your doctor recommended and feel good about yourself or you can do what you want and then feel bad because you're not sure if you have damaged your band, especially if you are getting stuck, etc. It seems like it's forever but as Kelly said, you'll be at the mushies stage before you know it. Good luck.

Great job Patty. You expressed yourself really well and let people know the truth, it's definitely not the easy way out!

I don't usually tell anyone what I weigh unless they are overweight themselves. A girl from work asked me the other day and I was wary about answering. Her guess was about 20 lbs less than I weigh. I told the truth and then jokingly said that my boobs weigh at least 10 lbs each.

Do you take off your shoes?
Sades replied to argon's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My mum was a fanatic when it came to us wearing our shoes on her new carpet and eventually not so new carpet. Of course I always took them off but in my own home I don't bother with that as long as my shoes aren't muddy or wet. My ex used to make me take my shoes off when I went to his house and boy did that peeve me. There were times I was so stubborn I would nearly not go in. I think it was more to do with him peeving me than the actual shoe thing. Anyway, I don't expect people to take off their shoes when they come into my home so I would like the same in return. -
Scientology is more like a cult than a religion. They try to convert people, even here in Australia. I remember back in the 80s, they used to stand around the streets of Sydney and wait for vulnerable people to come by. They would ask them a couple of questions then ask them to go back to their office / church to give them a more indepth personality assessment. Then of course from there they start reeling them in. They don't believe in psychiatrists, psychiatric medicines such as antidepressants or that there are any psychiatric disorders, eg, schizophrenia. The guy who started this a guy called Ron L Hubbard. I used to like Tom Cruise but he does go on now. John Travolta is a scientologist as well but doesn't seem to have the same need as Tom to ruin his career. Love Johnny!

Hi Greeneyes (is it Jen??). How are you feeling today?

Hi there, happy to meet some other bandsters... already met Danna as we have the same doctor. It will be nice to catch up again now that we're banded.

i am staying on plan today because ...

I'm staying on plan because I feel so much better when I eat less. -
I also have the J&J band... 10cc. I was banded on 1 Nov and had a 2cc fill on 12 Dec. I have very little restriction right now but have my 2nd fill this Wednesday. I assume that if I get another 2-3cc in it, my restriction should start to kick in.

They Just Don't Understand
Sades replied to Xfballplayer72's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I look at someone at 19 and think that it is so young but it's true that most of us have had our weight issues since our childhood or teens. I have been a yo yo dieter since my early teens and even though I stopped the fad dieting as I got older, I still had the problem of losing and putting on the same 20 - 30 lbs for many years. I know a girl who was banded at 21 (fat child) and has lost all her weight. She is 23 now and is engaged to be married... she said she is so happy and has never regretted her decision. I too wish I had done it sooner and say go ahead but be sure that you know what you are getting yourself in to. Good luck. -
Congratulaions, welcome to lapband land. I had a quick recovery as well. Enjoy the journey.

Good one. How awful that you suffered this at such a young age.

Congratulations... the start of a new life and body ! :pray2:
