Nov. Nymphs "Spring into Weight Loss" Challenge FINAL WEIGHT
Sades replied to Momto1plus1's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My BIL is very lucky for sure. I think things will change foodwise for him. I would wait until after the holiday to get another fill, you don't want to regret it while you're away. When I did my big USA holday in 2006, we did so much walking and ate reasonably healthy that I didn't put one ounce on. Walking is the best way to lose or maintain. The pain in my side is subsiding but still not sure what happened. My next fill is on 16 April and I'm sure I'll need it by then. It's got to hit soon. I have very little to eat during the day, seems to be the night time which gets to me the most. I know it's not hunger more like habit. I go really well for a while then bam, back into it. I guess 2 steps forward and 1 step back will still achieve results... just a little slower than some. -
Nov. Nymphs "Spring into Weight Loss" Challenge FINAL WEIGHT

Pretty much the same as you Shortgal. I can still eat large amounts but can go much longer without food. I've a bad pain on my left side the last couple of days and it looks swollen. I'm worried that I may have done some damage over Easter. On the BIL front, they found that he had 90% blockage in one artery and 50% in another. They cleared the 90% blockage and said they won't touch the 50% one. They only do it if it's 60% and over. He has to be on tablets and will be home tomorrow. The specialist will see him for a stress test etc in a few weeks. He said that if he didn't get the chest pains and left it, he would have had a major heart attack. Lucky man. -

Thanks for asking Shortgal. They believe he had a mild heart attack but won't know for sure until he has an echocardiogram today to determine what damage there is. Unfortunately heart disease runs in his family. His 2 brothers have had major bypasses and his brother and nephew who both passed away in separate car accidents would have needed bypasses at some point. I just hope he looks after himself so he doesn't have to. He is a tall skinny guy who loves his fatty food and junk meals so it just shows that it's not always because you're fat that these things happen. He is originally from the USA... my sister met him in Australia in the 60s while he was on R&R from the air force. How's your restriction going? -
Top LB surgeons in sydney? who are they

He was great on the night Chickie, making jokes, guzzling water to prove he still could and carrying on. I asked a question about my meds and he made some joke about them being illegal drugs... naughty boy. Anyway he helped me make up my mind to go ahead with it. I haven't seen him there since but you never know, I may bump into him some day. -

I was banded in Sydney by Dr Steve Liebman & Dr Garrett Smith at the North Shore Weight Loss Surgery. They have rooms at the North Shore Private Hospital. I was banded in November last year and was very happy with the outcome and follow up care. They are Mikey Robbins surgeons as well but I was referred to them by my doctor and only found that out when I went to their info night. He was there talking about his experience. He has lost 60 kilos and said he's had no problems whatsoever. I had to pay around $5,000 out of pocket but that covers fills etc for 12 months. Good luck with your search. -

Marie, 2 lbs lost has to be better than 2 lbs gained... good luck with the next round. -
It's funny how the people who knock people stick up for those knocking people. Bitching, moaning and groaning is human nature as is being positive so welcome to the real world. PS, funny how there's no response from the original poster which tells me we have another trouble maker in our midst.

Nov. Nymphs "Spring into Weight Loss" Challenge FINAL WEIGHT
Sades replied to Momto1plus1's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks Shortgal. I have been exercising pretty much every day since xmas but it isn't my natural thing, never has been. I do get addicted to it once I get going but can just as easily go the other way if I don't do it for a few days. That's why I have to stay on top of it. You said it about the band, definitely takes some time getting used to it. -
Nov. Nymphs "Spring into Weight Loss" Challenge FINAL WEIGHT
Sades replied to Momto1plus1's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I must say Shortgal that I've been really bloated for the last couple of days. Too much food & choccies and no exercise. The plan was to go for my walk this morning and aqua tonight but that all fell through when my BIL woke up with chest pains at 4am and ended up in hospital. They believe he had a mild heart attack and is staying in overnight for more tests tomorrow. Fingers crossed that it's not too serious. I definitely need to get my ass moving tomorrow. It's funny but as soon as I start losing again I do something to sabotage it... happening again and I feel so frustrated because I end up having to lose the same couple of pounds over and over again. -
Thanks for letting me know guys. At least she's getting better. How is her band situation going?

It's been a month now, has anyone heard any more news on Jen?

Can Someone Please Tell Me If I Can Ever Eat Bread Again?
Sades replied to Mel119's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can eat all types of bread. Sometimes it's hard to down it but if I eat it slowly, no problem. -
Am I too tight? I need your insights please....
Sades replied to marieze's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You don't sound too tight to me if you can eat what you are eating. I am at 7.5cc in a 10cc band and still able to down a fair amount of food. Some things get stuck and I feel full for much longer but I definitely have room for more fill. I find different days and different times of the day make a difference to my restriction so as Wheetsin said, listen to your body, it will always let you know when to stop. When I don't listen to mine, I generally end up suffering in some way. -

Nov. Nymphs "Spring into Weight Loss" Challenge FINAL WEIGHT
Sades replied to Momto1plus1's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think I tested my limits at lunch and need to stop long before I did. Now that Easter's over I will go back to small meals... won't feel so bloated then. -

Sades replied to Momto1plus1's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well I don't have as much restriction as I thought, still able to eat large amounts but I am definitely full for much longer. I had 2 days in a row of big lunches and snacking but no real dinner. The plan is to get back to small meals until my next fill. -

What level are all the Nov 07 bandsters at?
Sades replied to AndreaL's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm now at 7.5cc in a 10cc band after my fill last Wednesday. I'm noticing a lot more restriction as each day passes. I'm thinking I will be okay as long as I can get past the Easter eggs this weekend... they slide right through! :cheers2: -
Glad to hear you got your appointment Kendra. They sound like they do a thorough job. Good luck.

Three days postop, my mom's memorial service
Sades replied to cmcallister2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm very sorry about your loss... this will be a hard time for you, especially if you're an emotional eater. I lost my mum 13 years ago, dad 9 years ago and my sister 5 years ago so I know how hard it is to stay on track when the emotions are going rampant. Just remember that you did this to get healthy and if feeling emotional, go for a walk or do something else to release that energy. If all else fails, log on here and talk to people. Good luck and my thoughts are with you through this time. xx -
I'm still thinking about you Kendra and sending positive energy towards you. Hope you get that appointment soon. Love the boots, I had a pair that looked very close to that in the 70s... they were very fashionable here for a couple of years. Brings back memories... :biggrin2:

Nov. Nymphs "Spring into Weight Loss" Challenge FINAL WEIGHT
Sades replied to Momto1plus1's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think my last fill is working Shortgal. I definitely feel full quicker. I can still eat okay but I can go a lot longer without food. Of course chocolate just slides through! I'll definitely be careful with the Easter goodies. -
Nov. Nymphs "Spring into Weight Loss" Challenge FINAL WEIGHT
Sades replied to Momto1plus1's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm feeling good about things Shortgal because I was reassured that I'm on track... it really helps. I know I'm not losing as fast as some but I have also been eating pretty much what I want. I really don't want to be so tight I can't eat or enjoy social functions. Also, I have always eaten after a fill. The nurse just tells me to be careful. In answer to your other question, I was told by the doctor the last time that they don't put large fills, ie 3cc, because they can't really determine how much to take out if the band is too tight. .5-1cc is managable. Anyway, I'm happy to see how I go with this fill. Good luck with yours. -
"I do not follow all the rules, all the time. But I follow all the rules some of the time, and try to do better every day." I like it Bandpal... will definitely use it. Thanks for your support and I have to agree with the level playing field. For me it was that I was sick of losing 10-15 kilos and eventually putting it back on... this has been me all of my life so if the band will help me get more off and keep it off then it's done it's job. Kristen, that's a great achievement, I can't wait to join you.
