So sorry to hear that Dianne. Pity party, I don't think so. Vent as much as you want and I hope they sort this out for you asap. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Keep us posted.

Sorry to hear that Susannah, it must be a trying time for you. It is definitely good to be near family when you're going through this. I hope that things get a little better for you soon.

Me and carbs have a relationship that I'm reluctant to break. I have no problem eating bread, potatoes, pasta or sweets. Unfortunately I have no problem eating anything. So at the moment it's all willpower for me to keep the weight off. I'm hoping my next fill will help curb some of it.

Thanks for your post Jen. It is definitely a reminder that we can and should. My older brother had a stroke (cerebral haemorrhage) when he was 41 and ended up partially paralysed and has a problem with his speech. He ended up having 3 more over the years but was lucky each time. We help him with things, eg, tying his shoelaces and sometimes I get a little tired of it but you have reminded me how hard it must be for him. Thanks again.

Good on you Tracey, you look fantastic. Great observations. That's pretty much my goal for my 1 year band anniversary. 31 down, 55 to go.

:w00t: Sisters stick together so happy to share George Clooney with you !! :biggrin2:

Now that is excellent news Kendra and worth the tears. My dad was called George but he was a good man, kind and brought joy to the people around him. The other George needs a few kicks up the butt, so happy to keep kicking in that case !! :w00t: This has come about because of your inner strength and positive thoughts so keep it up. You can see how much support you have here as well... lots to be said for the power of thinking. Woohoo !! :tongue2:

Hi Debbie I know exactly how you feel. I also have lost only 31 lbs and even though I am happy with that I am peeved at myself because I know I could have been another 10-20 lbs down by now. I have more fill than you 8cc and can still eat heaps. You sound like you need a fill asap because for most people 4cc does not make much of an impression. The head stuff is the worst for me, I just can't seem to get out of old habits. I go okay for a while then fall over again which is why I keep losing the same 2 lbs over and over again. I started going to the support group at the hospital last week and that helped put some things into perspective. I guess we have to become accountable at some point so how about now? Let's revisit this in a week and see what we've achieved. Good luck.

Reading a lot of negative feedback, any regrets?
Sades replied to AMLP's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I don't regret having the band done at all. We come on here to discuss issues we are having so it might sound to some like we are being negative. I have lost 30+ lbs and happy with that. Of course I see that others have lost more than me and I feel I am stuffing things up. I know I will lose heaps more once I am tight enough. It isn't a simple process nor is it a miracle band as you have to work at it for it to work. I'm still a work in progress. -
Hot, Halfway, Honest, Happy and Homeward Bound
Sades replied to bandpal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
14 May but I need to get some lbs off before then. I have bought some diet dinners to help me stay honest at night which is the main time I go off track. I feel like a broken record at the moment. -
November Nymphs Cinco de Mayo Weight Loss Challenge

You're doing fine Shortgal... 40 lbs down, that's great. I'm still struggling to get back on track. I can eat so much. I'm booked for another fill on 14 May so I'm hoping that will hit my sweet spot. I also need to get my headspace back on track. I started going to a support group at the hospital the other night and I think that's going to help. They meet once a month and it's run by the nurse at my drs surgery. Hopefully I will have some positive news for you when you get back from your hols. Congratulations on the walking, it will help. It's the only thing keeping me sane through all this. -

Good one Bandpal you are doing fabulously. I still don't have that kind of restriction. Shortgal I am definitely like you, another .5cc might do it. The difference between you and me though is that you are working much harder than me with your food intake. :rolleyes2: -

Have a great holiday Shortgal... hopefully the temptations won't be too great. How long are you away? -
Signs when you are full ..I hiccup
Sades replied to readytoloselbs's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I sometimes get the hiccups as a sign of being full. The other thing is a pain around my middle, especially in my back. I went to my first support session the other night and that's what I was saying to everyone Bandpal. I don't know how to stop when I get the signs. If I make a sandwich and I'm full after 1/2 I will always finish it. A couple of times I have stopped and put it in the fridge but it keeps calling to me until I finish it. The conclusion I came to that night is I need to throw it out once I feel full. I know it's a waste of food but better in the bin than in my stomach. -
Welcome home Jen. I'm sure with the right therapy you should get the use of your arm again. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I've taken a copy of this as well Salsa because I certainly need a kick up the you know what. I can't seem to get out of these bad habits and it is stopping me getting any more weight off. I hope things get better for you mrskrzyz, you've done amazingly well so far ! :rolleyes2:

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
Sades replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I eat grain bread, weetbix cereal (not sure if you guys have it there) and drink green tea and I walk every day... all those together make for a good constitution. -
That thread was my first experience of people trying to put people down or whatever and I must say I wasn't impressed. I was ready to leave this site but then thought why would I do that just because there are some people out there who think it is okay to knock people for some reason or another. Instead I decided to stay around with my Nov Nymph mates. I have kept away from that thread because I don't like that mentality. We had it at school, we have it in the workforce, I certainly don't want it during my "stress" free hours after work. I can understand people have come on here that make rash statements and upset some people but have a say and move on... which is what I'm doing right now :tt2:

That's a big goal April but you look like you're well on the way. 31 is still so young and I agree it would be hard to deal with excess skin when trying to date someone. I feel that way about my upper thighs because even now they are looking a bit iffy. I was scared enough going under for the band but having to do it again and with more pain I believe has to make me think twice. I guess the best people to talk to are the ones who have been through it already, I'm sure they'll have a lot to offer. Good luck with the next stage of weight loss.
-
Hi Rachel, it was Dianne who had the bad experience. I'm not sure that I would consider PS because the thought of going under and the pain does not appeal to me. I have some problem areas, especially the upper thighs & boobs that I would like done but I won't know for sure until I have lost more weight. I guess if I was younger I would definitely consider it but at my age things were starting to drop anyway. :glare: Let us know what you decide.

a bit of a whine...on the day I hit 100 lbs down...
Sades replied to blahblahblah's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
100 lbs is an amazing feat and you should be so proud of yourself. I have lost 31 lbs and I know how hard it was doing that so another 70 lbs more has to be something to be applauded. Remember that a year ago you couldn't even have imagined wearing a size 16 and here you are an inch or so away from that... that's a good thing. It's not easy staying pumped and excited about this because the last lot of weight will obviously be the hardest to shift but what is another year of your life when you had all that excess weight for so much longer than that. 1 lb at a time... 52 weeks in a year, 1 lb a week... GOAL !! (or close to it) -
I walk pretty much every day for 50-55 mins and do aqua aerobics once a week. My weight loss has slowed right down because I can still eat too much, so basically the exercise is helping me maintain. My restriction is slowly but surely getting there so looking forward to more weight loss soon.
