Fantastic achievement and happy father's day. Beautiful baby as well !! :cursing:

Congratulations on your fantastic loss so far, only have 40 lbs and 5 months to catch up to you !!:frown: I'm the last person to give advice since I'm going through a similar thing but I agree you could need another fill. Exercise is great if you can do it regularly but if you can't it makes it a little harder. I try to walk every day. If I miss my morning walk then I do one at lunch time. At least it helps me keep off what I've lost so far.

I'm also 7-8 months out and I have 8.5cc in my band. I don't understand why your dr won't give you more, otherwise how are you meant to get restriction?? I would be asking your dr why he is not giving you what most people have by now. My dr started off by giving me 2cc, then 3cc, then 1cc, then .5cc for the rest since then. He said the reason they give smaller amounts after about 5-6cc is that they need to slowly track your restriction in case they over fill you. He said if they give you 2 or 3 cc to bring you to 8cc and you are too tight, they won't know how much to take out to bring you to your sweet spot. .5cc means you could be .2cc too much and that's easy to fix. I hope you're not paying for each fill. My fills are part of the full cost for the first 12 months. Good luck with your next visit.

I have no support and no-one to talk to: Surgery 18th June
Sades replied to kizzie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Kizzie, good luck with your upcoming surgery. I was one of the lucky ones, only in pain when I first woke up from the op but after that did really well. No gas, just painful around the port area when getting up and down. I am from Sydney, Australia (almost NZ ) and was banded in November last year. I wouldn't call myself a success story yet (more a work in progress :crying:). I have lost 16kgs (35lbs). Still searching for that elusive "sweet spot". This board is a great place to come for some inspiration. It's always open no matter what time of the day or night. Is there a support group locally that you can go to? That could be a great help as well. Good luck and keep us posted on how you go. -
Ah men and their insults. Some of the ugliest men are the worst culprits. Many years ago I worked for a pharaceutical company and 3 of their sales reps used to spend their lunch break watching girls and grading them out of 10 on their looks. That was bad enough but these guys were in their 40s, one was tubby and bald, one had poxy skin, can't remember the other one. I say don't throw stones because they could very well land at your feet. Sheesh!

Summer/Independence Day Weightloss Challenge
Sades replied to luvinke's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I like that idea, me too. Lost 3 lbs but have 9 lbs to go. So easy to fall off the wagon. 3 July, now that's just under 3 weeks away. -
Glad to hear all went well with the cardiologist, at least you can move forward without fear now. My dr put 2cc, then 3cc as my first 2 fills. Then from there it's been 1cc then .5cc each time. 2.25cc seems a slow start but I guess each dr works differently. I would ask for a bigger fill next time you go because if you have a 10cc band you can go to 5 or 6cc without too much restriction. Money could be a factor with your dr or he just may be cautious. You can only ask. Good luck!

I'm sorry that you're going through this. It sounds to me like you're nowhere near restriction so don't beat yourself up about being able to eat. I have 8.5cc in a 10cc band and I still haven't got full restriction. I have lost 16kgs / 35 lbs and have had to work hard to keep it off. I walk pretty much every day to burn off any extra food I eat. Are you exercising? Are you counting calories? If you're still hungry at least if you eat low cal food then you are unlikely to put on weight. Take it easy on yourself and remember that it took you many years to get to this weight, so what is a year or two to get it off. Think of yourself as a work in progress like I do.

How much fill do you have in your 10 cc band?
Sades replied to trapped inside's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi there, just curious to know how you're doing at 8.7cc because I have 8.5cc and still capable of eating lots of food, eg, normal size toasted sandwich with lots of filling, apples, etc. To be honest am not having problems with any food and now a little worried that there's something wrong with the band. -
Congratulations Robin, way to go ! :tongue2:

POLL - Whats your sweet spot in 10cc band?
Sades replied to bunnykin4u's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am currently 8.5cc in a 10cc band. I am definitely not at my sweet spot. I go for another fill next week and am hoping that's the one. With 8.5cc I am not hungry but can still eat whatever I want and way too much of it. Occasionally I get stuck but that's only if I eat too fast. For the record, I am not eating anywhere near as much as I was pre band but I am amazed at how much I can eat for a banded person. -
November Nymphs Summer Kick-Off Weight Loss Challenge
Sades replied to cindyg1212's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That list had me 1.5 lbs heavier so I found the one before which had my correct weight loss which I assume is the latest one. -
I have lost 35 lbs and I am definitely down 1 dress size. Probably more like 1.5 though. So every 20 lbs sounds about right to me.

He's definitely a major success story and an inspiration to many people. I have met him a couple of times now because he was banded by my doctor. He spoke at my introduction night and then I saw him again about 3 weeks ago. What he has to say sounds like all our stories and makes a lot of sense to me. For those of you who haven't heard him, he's worth a listen. -
November Nymphs Summer Kick-Off Weight Loss Challenge
Sades replied to cindyg1212's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Me too which is why I believe I haven't been a big loser like some on here. If the truth be known, I am rarely hungry but still eat because I think I should and because I can. I'm kicking myself for that because I would be much closer to my goal by now. I have another fill next week which hopefully should fix the ability to eat too much in one sitting and then from there I have to work on the head stuff. I am still very happy that I am down 35 lbs. Bought an outfit for my niece's 21st birthday party which is in 2 weeks time and I am down a dress size... surely I can't complain about that. -
my mom has lap band.. and she is in danger
Sades replied to sammie1030's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey Sammie, how's your mum? -
I have been banded for 7 months and have only lost 35 lbs so far, so I'm not exactly the right person to give advice but here goes. I am not fully restricted yet so I am able to eat more than I should so for me walking 50-55 minutes almost every day has helped me maintain my loss because it would be so easy to put it back on with the way I am eating. I would say that if you are only eating 800 calories a day then the weight should fall off if you start exercising. As Newhope said, even start with 10 minutes a day or maybe even twice a day. Before you know it, you will find yourself getting fitter and walking longer. Brandy's right, lunch time walks are a good idea as well. About 13 years ago I decided to get fit by walking every day and I ended up losing 37 lbs in about 6 months or so and I didn't even go on a diet. Give it a go, you've got nothing to lose except weight !! :tongue2:

Welcome back Nessa. 42 lbs down is a great achievement. How many more do you need to lose? I was told that if we lose 25kgs (55lbs) in the first year then we are on track. You are not expected to lose at a fast rate with the band. Of course some people on here have achieved so much more but that is not the norm and I am unfortunately not one of them. I have lost 35lbs. I know I could have lost more by now and sometimes I berate myself but overall, I'm very happy with that loss. I still have 5 months to go before my year is up so if I can lose another 20lbs in that time, then I am on track. We spent so many years overweight and if it takes a year or two to get to goal and stay there, I would be very happy with that. Take it easy on yourself and get on this site more often, it does help keep things in perspective.

Congratulations Cindy, what an amazing achievement and in such a short time. You have been an inspiration to all of us and this makes me want to push harder to get mine moving! -
Silly me, I shouldn't respond when I'm tired. I meant "Only willing to go out with someone who is looking for something a bit more special".

100 lbs... Good one Cindy !
