I am amazed at how harsh your comments are Jacqui. I think you need to back off a little on the mental health issues because you really don't know what's going on for people and not really up to you to be judgmental of them. You talk about tough love but this is nowhere close. You may find Brandy and others frustrating but that doesn't give you the right to come on here and talk about these people like they are some sort of low life. You may be a nice person in real life but you are definitely walking on the edge here. It's not about people not wanting slim people on here, it's more about wanting to talk to people who haven't forgotten what it's like to struggle through the different stages. I didn't really want to say anything on this thread because it is part of the R&R section but enough is enough. If people whinge or sound like victims then that's where they are at. We can try and help them but it's not for us to change them. This is a forum for everyone to use but rants like this seem to indicate otherwise. If you've never walked in my shoes then don't proffess to know how I feel. Some people have had to go through a lot in their lives, way more than one person should have to and they are trying to survive the best they can and don't need to be shot down in flames because of it. Look inside your heart and try and imagine what it feels like to lose siblings, parents, to be abused, to be abandoned,to be raped and the list goes on. If you can't then it's not for you to judge.

POLL: how much fill in a 10cc band?
Sades replied to restrict2008's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Happy to help! I'm at 9cc now but my restriction hasn't changed all that much. I am definitely not hungry but I can eat heaps for a bandster. I can eat 2 pieces of toast for Breakfast, no problem. My dr said if I can eat bread so easily then I'm not restricted enough. I'm going for a barium meal next week to make sure the band is okay. -
Good to know Linda because regular barfing can lead to a slip. I know what you mean about having to get used to eating less and foods you love. I always get stuck on scrambled eggs with bread but I can't seem to give them up. I only eat them once in a while though. I need to learn to eat small portions again. I may not have full restriction but I'm not hungry most of the time so a small amount should be enough. Head hunger is still the hardest battle for me.

Hey Cindy & Cindy, sounds like a plan to me !! I already did the USA / Mexico trip 2 years ago so Australia sounds like the way to go. Definitely no Antartica for me either !! :biggrin2: I've never been to the Great Barrier Reef so it will be 2 new things for all of us, 1. the trip, 2. wearing the bikinis !! It's been at least 30 years since I last wore a bikini !
-
I have decided there's no rhyme or reason for what the band does Linda. The question is are you too tight? You don't want to end up with problems down the track.
-
LOL, 6 days... it's the middle of the night here and reading without my glasses did not help! Good luck with getting back on track.
-
Have you tried drinking pineapple or apple juice? Many people swear by it for getting unstuck. I didn't think someone could be stuck for 6 weeks but I guess your dr must know what he's talking about. It sounds like you might be swollen so how about going back to liquids for a few days. Good luck and keep us posted.
-
Sounds like you have pretty good restriction. I haven't had restriction since the first 6 weeks of banding. I get glimpses of it then it's gone. I feel like I've been on a diet for the last 6 months rather than banded. One false move and I could end up putting on what I've already lost. Sorry for hijacking your thread Cindy !
-
Thanks Jill, I hope you're right. Did the barium drink taste awful? How is your restriction with 4.75cc in your band?
-
Good on you Queen V, glad you got the courage to start posting. Sorry about your dad and your weight gain. It's never too late to start again. You will get the support you need on here. Good luck!

I thought of that as well Cindy but nevertheless I'm still worried. I guess I won't know for sure until my test. I saw a thread last night re the same thing and it didn't sound promising. Fingers crossed!

I'm having a barium swallow next week to test my band as well. I have 9cc in a 10cc band and can pretty much eat what I want. Bread, meat, nothing is a problem. I occasionally get stuck if I eat too fast but once that clears can continue eating. I had all the fluid removed and put back in last fill and it was all there so no leak. I hope it's nothing more serious.

Do you have low Vitamin D? I have Osteomalacia and when my body flares up it feels like a dull ache in the bones and permanent cramping in my legs and sometimes in my hips. Go see your doctor.
-
I'm hoping not Cindy but 9cc is a lot of fill. I had a small bowl of chicken curry with noodles and vegetables. No problem going down, even the chicken pieces. My dr's office isn't too worried but doing the test to be sure. They said they have a couple of patients who are at the 10cc point. I'm hoping I'm one of them.

Hey Cindy, I am still waiting to barf on the good food, so not only can the cookies go down easily but everything else as well !! :grouphug: I'm getting there with this last fill. I'm having an xray in about a week to make sure that everything is ok. I now have 9cc in a 10cc band and still able to eat things without too much trouble. I guess it will hit suddenly and I'll be whining that I'm over filled and can't eat (bring that day on !!)

I have been overweight all my life but for me my lack of self esteem has come from the reasons I became overweight in the first place. I am a very confident person, despite my weight but my lack of self esteem was always about how I related to the opposite sex or job situations. I never felt good enough and sometimes I didn't even put myself out there. Many boys and men found me attractive but I couldn't handle that in my teens and my 20s. In my 30s I went in a different direction, going a little crazy on the casual sex scene. By the time I got to my mid 40s I'd had a number of men including some long term relationships but never a fully committed one. I always felt that I was too scared to be too attractive to men. I'm at a point in my life where I don't want to do the casual stuff but not prepared to go into a committed relationship either. Even at 53 I'm a little scared to be slim. I have a big ego which is strange given how I feel, so there is some confusion as to who I am and where I'm going. If that equates to me sometimes going off the rails for awhile then I am fine with that. Yes I have the odd whinge that I'm not losing fast enough or my restriction isn't there yet but at the same time, I don't think I'm ready to lose it that fast. We all know our bodies and our minds and for some of us we need to lose slowly so we can get used to the new us a little at a time, especially those of us who have grown up with a weight problem. Good on you Jacqui on your weight loss and amazing body and I would like to get there some day soon but you remind me of my 2 sisters who suffered the same losses etc that I did and can't understand why I can't get on with it. Of course I had some extra issues, like being molested as a child, to deal with. It's important to remember that we are all different personalities with different drives and we're not all motivated by the same things. Yes we all have one goal and that is to lose weight but we are not all travelling the same path to get there. Some people just get on with it and some stumble along the way. Neither person is right or wrong, just different. Please continue to give your advice because I appreciate it when I read it and for those who are not ready to take it in, the fact that it has been put out there might get them thinking further down the track.

November Nymphs Summer Meltdown Challenge
Sades replied to cindyg1212's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I started lighter than you Cindy, so my achievement isn't much of an achievement. I look forward to the day that you can say you have hit onederland... not long to go now. Hey Shortgal, I just noticed our appointments for testing the band are the same day. Hopefully neither of us will have a serious problem. We could be the odd ones who need more than 9cc to reach our "sweet spot". Marie, I'm happy to join you getting back on track. I only put 9 lbs to lose because I never seem to reach my goal. Hoping this time will be it. -

November Nymphs Summer Kick-Off Weight Loss Challenge
Sades replied to cindyg1212's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It's very popular here as well Cindy. We started banding people here before the US I believe but our population is so small next to yours that we will never have as many as you. I think I am the only Aussie in this November group ?? Anyone ?? There is a Australian support section on this site and we have a few out there as well but this site is one of the best ones I've seen. Thanks for the date, first day of Spring for us. It will be nice to be another size or so down by then. -

Good idea Cindy, Summer Meltdown Challenge... can you please tell me when Labour Day is (Aussie girl here!)? -
Where Oh Where have all the Nymphs Been?
Sades replied to hollyberries's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My sentiments exactly. How could you not be stressed after what you've been through. Take it easy on yourself, those couple of lbs will be gone before you know it. For now it's about nurturing yourself and enjoying the fact that you have your wife back home. Everything will be back to normal soon enough. -
Congratulations on your major success... way to go !! :smile2:

How much fill do you have in your 10 cc band?
Sades replied to trapped inside's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks Mrs Kimmie, that's great to know. I went to my support group meeting tonight and the nurse who runs them didn't seem too concerned but said they would do an xray at my next fill which is on Thusday just to be sure. She also said that some people just need another .1cc and they get there. It's just frustrating because I've been unrestricted for so long that it's a struggle to stay on top of the weight loss, despite my daily exercising. I hope I'm skinny on the inside as well... nice to be skinny somewhere !! -
Eating real food too soon
Sades replied to minimeemz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know all doctors are different but most people are 2 weeks liquids, 2 weeks mushies. I then went to soft foods for a few days. It sounds to me like you've started on solids way too soon and I would be careful from now on. It doesn't mean you've damaged your band but the rules are there for a reason. Put this behind you and start again, this time sticking with it to the end. -
I didn't realise you had a 4cc band, I thought it was a 10cc band like mine. 3cc in a 4cc band has to be pretty good restriction then. I can see why she is doing it slowly. I hope you find your sweet spot soon.
