  1. Unfortunately the reason I have felt no restriction is because I have a slipped band. I haven't seen my dr yet but the xray dr said that it had slipped slightly. I'm not sure what that means for me until I talk to my dr but I assume they will need to go in again. As you can imagine, I'm not very happy about that. At least I know now and can move forward, whichever direction that is.

    About ur New Nymph

Welcome Jaime. Sounds like you've been through quite a bit recently. In my opinion, anyone who breaks up with someone on Valentine's has to be a bit of a dweeb and definitely not worth a second thought! Your previous dr sounds like one as well. I can understand someone disagreeing with something but it was still her job to be there for you so again, no great loss. Shame you can't get more fills, hope that changes for you soon. Mine are part of the package for the first year then I start paying again. Not looking forward to that day. Good luck and stick with LBT & the Nymphs, it's a good place to be.

    Book Club

I used to read all the time but haven't as much in the last couple of years or so. The internet is killing me!! I love reading psychological thrillers. Mary Higgins-Clark, Dean Koonz (sp).

    My peeps!! Yeah!!!

    I'll be waiting !!)
  7. I'm at 9cc in a 10cc band and I am going for a barium meal tomorrow morning. I was only thinking on the way home tonight that I might speak to my dr about doing just that. If the xray shows that all is okay I might see what he says about removing it all and starting all over again.

    My Weightloss Drink

We're not really meant to but unfortunately those of us who can do. My dr is aiming for 3 cups of food a day for me, that's it. Not there yet, hopefully soon.

    My Weightloss Drink

Thanks Linda, I need to hear that. No harm in giving the drink a go. My problem is I go through eating too many bad carbs so whatever good I do goes down the gurgler. I will try doing a day of liquids either tomorrow or Friday. I need to kickstart this thing again. Exercise is great, especially when you're not trying, eg, landscaping. I am still walking pretty much every day so at least I am maintaining. It's great having the November Nymphs to talk to... good on us !!

    My Weightloss Drink

As I've said before Cindy, it's nice to be thin, even if it's on the inside! Thanks for the good thoughts from NY (loved NY when I was there in 2006)!! It's tomorrow morning at 9am (my time) so I'll let you guys know how I go... fingers crossed.

    A Dang Cookie Rant

Wow Shalee you're doing so well. Can't wait to get down another size. You must have felt great on your break being so much slimmer!
  12. As you say it's a big money making industry, as is WLS, but at least with WLS we stand a chance of achieving our goal and staying there.

    My Weightloss Drink

That's a pretty good day of food there Cindy. It's definitely the carbs that are the killer for me, so once my mind is at ease I will be doing something major to get something going again. I have been doing a lot of emotional eating in the last week or so. My day today was: B: 1/2 cup of Cereal with skim milk & 1/2 banana; 1 toasted crumpet with a little Peanut Butter & 1/2 banana S: 1 skim latte L: 1 cup of low fat minestrone Soup S: 1/2 cup fruit n nuts S: 2 choc coated shortbread biscuits D: 1 bowl of chicken soup (with noodles & rice); a piece Lebanese bread with cheese S: small chocolate bar S: Jatz biscuits (way more than 1 person should eat) S: Mandarin I'm embarrassed writing this down. Now you can see why I say I'm not restricted or losing any more weight. I will Cindy. I'm a little scared about what they're going to say.

  15. It's all relevant to the person. For example, when I was much younger, around 170-180 lbs I had some really skinny friends who would constantly pat their stomach and say I feel fat blah blah blah. I used to get peeved at them but now I realise that no matter what size you are, if you don't feel good about yourself then you will always want to be slimmer, fatter (hard to believe), taller, shorter, prettier, etc. Now I just say to them, yes you'll probably feel better if you lose a few lbs or get some exercise in. Also, I have tried every diet from the grapefruit diet in the 60-70s to the detox diet in the 2000s, Gloria ?? (can't remember the name), WW, Lite n Easy, various gyms, urine injections, and the list goes on. I have managed to lose 30-50 lbs and of course back it comes. And some of this I'd tried over and over during the last 40 years. I'd say that I've worked harder at losing weight than people I know who weigh heaps more than me, so really it's not the size but the need that matters here and I need this just as much as someone 200 lbs bigger than me.

    My Weightloss Drink

Good one Cindy. My problem is that I can't seem to get out of my bad habits and it doesn't help that I can still eat too much. Without restriction it is definitely all about mindset. Once I know my band is okay (this Thursday), I'm going to ask for another fill that will hopefully get me to where everyone else is.
  19. I only watched the television series Foofy. It's fun going down memory lane sometimes. I've never read Tom Robbins but I used to do a lot of reading. Not so much these days, the computer's taken it over. Glad to hear you're doing well, I wish I could get some more weight off but I seem to be stuck on this weight. I need to do something different to jump start mine as well... hmmm, maybe stop eating too much? I shouldn't be smiling about that!! :bored:

    My Weightloss Drink

Anyone else tried this drink? How's it going Linda, is that why you've lost all that extra weight? I will give it a try as well... nothing to lose but weight !!)

    I'm JUST overweight!!!

Congratulations Linda, you've done fabulously... fantastic effort !!

    My peeps!! Yeah!!!

Welcome Huskerette. I was banded on 1 November 07 and have lost 35 lbs so far. I have a 10cc band with 9ccs in it. Unfortunately for some reason I still haven't found restriction so I am going for a barium meal / swallow this Thursday to test my band. I don't have any other symptoms so it just might be that I am one of those people who need to go to the full extent. Anyway, you look like you're doing really well. As Cindy said, the November Nymphs are a great bunch of people and very supportive. Look forward to chatting with you.
  23. Me either Cindy, 9 years longer than you in fact! This must have been a series in the UK and Australia. Anyway, sorry for the old Aussie humour!
  24. I have battled my weight problem since I was at school. I have been as low as 160 lbs and as high as 264 lbs during my years of dieting. Sure I managed to keep myself around 200 - 220 lbs for the last few years which is way too heavy for someone at 5'2" tall. I had no health issues, eg, BP, diabetes right up until I was around 50yo. In fact, my BP was around 115/75... then bam, it was up to 160/100 for quite some time and I had to go on medication. I had the diabetes and sleep apnea not long before that. Why wait until all those problems hit? If I had been banded a few years before when I was at 200 lbs then I wouldn't have these health issues now. So in answer to your question, I believe everyone has a right to be banded if they find it hard losing weight or keeping it off.
  25. Sorry to torture you Cindy, but the answer to life is 42 but unfortunately we don't know the question. You may be too young to remember the "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy". The Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything has a numeric solution in Douglas Adams' series The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. In the story, a "simple answer" to The Ultimate Question is requested from the computer Deep Thought, specially built for this purpose. It takes Deep Thought 7½ million years to compute and check the answer, which turns out to be 42. Unfortunately, The Ultimate Question itself is unknown, suggesting on an allegorical level that it is more important to ask the right questions than to seek definite answers.
