Thanks Shelly! :tongue_smilie: Now what did I miss? School who on the lap band trials and tribulations? :confused2: Cindy the port pain is getting better thanks. Just felt a lump that moves under one of the cuts which is under my left breast. Of course now I'm going to stress about what it could be... any ideas??

Okay it was around 1983/4 I think. My friend who I worked with in a film company was going out with a guy in the music industry (there were 7 of us who were friends for many years). She ended up sharing a house with Gary the guitarist. Our friendship at the time was coming to an end so I hadn't seen her for awhile, so I went around to visit and he answered the door. I didn't realise it was him because INXS were on their first US trip. Anyway he took my name and said he would let her know. I phoned a few hours later and he answered the phone. He asked is that Sades, he remembered me, how cute! Anyway we finally caught up a few days later so I went around to her house to go out for the night. Gary was there and then the 2 Farris brothers turned up. I was introduced to them as well. I was very impressed with myself! About 2 weeks later they had a party at the house and I was invited. I went with a couple of other friends and the whole band was there including Michael. I think he was off his face because when I went to the backend of the house, he was up on the table posing in front of everyone and I remembered thinking why would he need to that with a group of friends. Of course he was obviously an extravert. Anyway we stayed for a couple of hours then moved onto another party... there were always parties in those days. Anyway would you believe that my friend and I couldn't reconcile our differences and we didn't see each other again until about 11 years later. Missed the whole INXS period... what a shame. :tongue_smilie: Well that's one of my claims to fame. Now the blue hair. I had peacock blue in my hair for one weekend, everyone made such a fuss that I coloured over it. I used to put pink in my hair so was kind of a punk but not too crazy. I was called chunky punky by a guy at a party once... wasn't funny at the time but can't help but laugh at it now! :tt1: Sounds like we would have had a lot of fun together in the 80s, not forgetting the age difference of course.

Glad to hear you're back to your walking. It's so easy to get demotivated. Of course I need to wait a while longer before I can do that again. I hope you get some answers on Thursday. At least mine was done at his cost this time around. Is yours guaranteed?
-
I'm so sorry Judy. He's probably afraid to admit anything for the fear of legal action. Even though I've come out of this op okay, my mind is still focused on the negative. What if something else goes wrong. Once I got through it the first time I felt a certain sense of security that I was going to be a success story. I don't have that now.
-
Well it wasn't your error so someone has to be accountable! We are truly at their mercy which makes it so hard to know what to do. I guess because my dr admitted his error it made it easier for me to trust that he would make sure he did it right the second time. Let's hope he doesn't prove me wrong! :cursing:
-
Of course I forgot about the wedding. What date is that again? You definitely want to be up and about for that. My dr knew it was his mistake so he let me pick any day I wanted, he said he would stay back to do it.
-
I think that's the reason I went for mine asap because the longer I waited the more stressed I became. The dr said he thought the reason things were getting stuck is because the band was sitting against the stomach so it affected things a little.
-
Judy, my dr removed my old band and put a new one in in case he damaged the old one. I had the same fears about about scar tissue and how it would affect everything. I think the reason I was so scared going under (cried like a baby when I was being wheeled down to surgery) is that they would go in and find something wrong and have to cut me open or do a sleeve. All those things are on the cards when they do this surgery, even if it's a 1% chance. I'm sure you'll be okay but be prepared for having to do the post op diet again and having to hold off on the hard exercise... that's the hardest part for me so far.
-
Hey Judy I was thinking about you today. I'm sorry that you're feeling down about this. It's definitely not an easy time and as you say these drs minimise the stress of having surgery. I guess it's a job to them, in and out, next. We go through the stress prior to the surgery and the pain and suffering after the surgery so of course it's a big deal to us. I hope he answers your questions on Thursday. Is there another dr you can talk to? Just to see that he's not giving you a bum steer.

You were born the same year as my brother, he just turned 40yo. I loved those bands and as you say the young kids love them now. We had some great bands in Australia as well. Of course INXS who I actually met personally. One of them shared a house with one of my best friends at the time. I worked in the film business for 8 years when I was in my 20s and met some pretty interesting people.
-
Hey Marie 75 lbs in 8 months is fantastic. I know how hard it is to have no restriction. Of course in my case it was an actual problem but I wouldn't worry too much because most people find their restriction between 7-8.5ccs. I would wait till you get to about 8cc before asking for a barium swallow. Good luck.
-
It sounds like a blast Cindy. Of course I remember Woodstock, I was in high school in 69. Where have all those years gone. :crying: I've been to see a couple of old bands recently as well and I too have loved it. Only local bands that were famous here. Would love to see some of the more famous ones. I was big on live concerts in the 80s. Eurythmics, Culture Club, Billy Joel, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Queen to name a few. I also saw Roy Orbison and Gene Pitney, some real blasts from the past! I'm exhausted justing reading this Cindy!  I feel much better than I did the 1st 3 days so I might be doing cheer myself soon! :smile2:

Lapband removal & cost in Dallas, texas area
Sades replied to mustangsally's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Jane, thanks for thinking of me. Yes it all went well, can't believe it's Day 5 already. He did an endoscopy as well while I was under to make sure that it was all fine so I can't imagine there being a problem (I hope!). How are things with you? Sally, let us know how you go with the removal. I understand how you feel because I had to have mine done twice and if something happened again I might end up making the same decision. Take care. -

It just sounds like you were over filled to me. Most people who have the correct restriction do not go through what you have gone through. I hope you find a surgeon to help you get it out. Good luck with your future weightloss. -
Sounds like fun, did you have a good time? I can't wait to be back to normal.
-
Way to go Bandpal! It's a great feeling to hit certain goals. Thanks very much for your kind words. It's been almost 4 days since being rebanded and so far so good. How is your wife doing now? Look forward to seeing you on here more often.

That is weird. I'm getting pains in my right side and back now. That could be due to trying to take the strain off the port area. Our body clocks are a funny thing aren't they? I can't seem to get out of my current sleep cycle. I wake up through the night then so tired the next night, I end up dosing off early then wake up in the middle of the night again... catch 22.

That sounds awful. How much fill did you have that brought you to this point? If it's not bothering you then why take it out. Maybe in a few months you might look at having a fill again but go really slowly this time. I was just rebanded because of an error the first time and the thought of having surgery again put me in a spin. I just think why not give yourself time to see if you change your mind. Good luck with your decision, whatever you choose. -
November Nymphs forever!! I would hate to have gone through that much agony. It is bad enough suffering through the port pain without the gas pain added to it. I guess we all feel that way, once the pain is gone it's all worth it. What are you doing up so late again?
-
I had a touch in my shoulder straight after the surgery but that didn't last long at all, barely long enough to notice. I would have been screaming if I'd had it for 10 days. True, I have to be thankful that I didn't have it either time. I'm sure that liquid stage will pass quickly enough. I will get back to work tomorrow, from home, and hopefully with being so busy at work, the days will fly by. Thanks for all the support you guys keep giving me. It would feel funny to go into the July 2008 section because I don't feel like a newbie. I would much rather stick with my mates here!

Antibiotics instead of First Fill
Sades replied to SanDiegoPhotog's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
What a bummer but better to have a dr who is cautious. The first couple of fills don't usually make a lot of difference so I guess you're not missing out on much. 1 week isn't long to wait especially if the cough is bad enough to cause damage. Good luck. -
I would not wait, just get yourself to a dr asap. Whether it's happened to someone else or not does not mean that what is happening to you is okay. I wouldn't risk it. Good luck and keep us posted.
