Consultation - questions that should be asked?
mrswifey2008 posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hi all! I have my consultation visit with the VSG surgeon I'd like to use in a couple of weeks and I'm trying to compile a list of questions to ask him. Outside of the number of surgeries and the number of patients with complications, what other questions should I be asking? I know there are plenty but when it comes down to me remembering to write them down when I think of them... well... oooh look a shiny thing! ???? -
When is your consult with Dr shillingford? I am going to mine next week. I'm in Tampa and would like to use Dr Dietrick but his self-pay price is $14,600 Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App

Right! I've never been one to rock the boat... but I'm 35 now and have progressively been getting worse since my early 20's. I'm fed up. ???? Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App -
First Consult! Husband jumping the supportive ship...

I am in the very same boat. I had asked the surgeon I want to use at the consult how many surgeries he's done and how many had complications that lead to death. My husband focused on that information only and now is convinced that I am going to die if I have this surgery (the number of surgeries was a little over 1500 and he's had two deaths....one was from issues that the person had prior to surgery and the other they don't know what happened... the surgery was perfect and she passed away her sleep the next night). My husband literally is my only person I have I can lean on for support. I NEED this surgery for my health. He doesn't seem to realize that if I don't have it my path will remain the same. ???? Non supportive spouse

I'm so glad someone else is having this struggle! My hubby thinks it's the easy way out and feels that I should just exercise. He thinks I don't eat now as it is and says I will be miserable after because I won't be able to have what I want or go out for dinners with friends. Um hellooooo? All of that got me to where I am now! This has been a struggle for well over half my life now. I'm fed up and ready for things to change! Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App -

No kids for me! I ended up having to have a hysterectomy five years ago for cervical cancer, so it's just me, the hubby and fur babies! -

Well, I will be self-pay, so basically ask the cost of that item? ☺ Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App -
Anyone have a recommendation for the west coast of Florida? I know of Dr Dietrick in Tampa that had a self-paced price of $14600 but I'd like to see if there is anyone else out there. Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App

Anyone have a recommended doctor in the Tampa area? I seem to be running into problems trying to find one (a well rated doc) that isn't over in the St Pete area. I'm in the very beginning/research stage of things! ☺️

Hi ya'll! I've been lurking for a while around here. While I haven't had surgery yet (I'm still in the research phase of my journey) I had a question for everyone. I make wedding cakes... And I feel like once I have surgery I may have to cut that out of my life... As a form of self control. Has anyone struggled with their food profession after surgery and what did you do to overcome it? I really don't want to give up doing it. I love it. Any advice is appreciated!

My downfall right now is sweets. I love decorating so much! It's my way to let loose and be free from my strict/all business day job.
