3 days post op, had my shower today and pulled bandaids off slowly. the top incision bandaid pulled the steri strip off with it. Will this be a problem, should i get one from docs office? also, i am having a difficult time getting my liquids in. i have not had any protein. i have had watery apple juice, water and some broth (broth is making me gag) My docs office said i can only have clear liquids. Any suggestions would help, i am getting a headache, and feel lethargic. :help: Overall, am feeling better with each day (the pain). Thanks for your guidance, i really appreciate it very much. Debbie

here it is day 2. my pain has been more intense today, and have barely had anything other than some broth (about 4oz) and watery apple juice, and some Water. I have only peed, or should i say trickled, about 3 or 4 times today....i am worried i will becom dehydrated. i am truly trying to drink, but finding it difficult right now....i am also on the verge of gagging with the broth. i am about to take some tylenol/codeine, and also my antibiotics, some gas x and a little walk around the house, then hopefully to bed for more than 2 hours at a time.....keep your fingers crossed. hey hungry, i really hope you dont have another migraine any time soon. i too am a sufferer. it sucks.:cry you might want to get a prescription for fenegren (sp?) suppositories. I am going to call my pcp to get one asap.....for that just incase moment.....lord i dont want to go through the dry heaving thing again....so scared i will damage the band, let alone the stomach is so bloody sore! take care, and let me know how you are doing wed, Debbie

kuchiegrl1 replied to KarenH's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is no way i would go back to work the next day. this is the next day for me, and i am still in pain, and on pain meds. So, I have taken 2wks as well. The first week to get over the hump of pain, and the second for getting to be friends with my band! Good luck in Jan. It will be a blessing (after the first month, lol) Debbie -
Hey all. I wish i could same the same, but i cant. Hear is my story: Arrived at 8am, surgery at 9 am, started to wake around 10:30 am. I told everyone before being put under, "i have very bad reactions to anesthia, vomiting, nause etc" Yes i took the emend pill the night before, yes they put extra anti-nausia meds while under...but......holy cow was i sick....so the nurse gave me different meds, and then finally demerol after dry-heavy and telling me to hold my belly.....I was so upset. I made it back to my room around 11:30 still very out of it, they put me in a chair with blankets on, propped my head up. This is pretty much where i stayed until 5:30 pm. I was in and out of sleep. i walked a few times later in the day. Once i felt alert enough, i told them i wanted to go home. They finally agreed and let me go home with instructions for me and my DH. So here i am 11:30 at night walking around, trying to keep occupied, and get the gas moving. I am in pain, but not like excruiating. The staff at the hospital were extremely nice, the docs, nurses, etc. They even sent me home with a basket with gatorade, Water, crystal light, freezies, and Jello. It was suppose to have a new robe and slippers, but they were out, sooooooo.....my nurse said he would have it mailed to my house! Oh sweet is that, considering i am a jammy-robe kinda gal....lol Anyhow,,,,enough of the rambling,,,,i will talk to y'all soon. Hope the rest of the 26-ers did well....stay in touch. Debbie

welcome. Way to go with the support for your sister. I too, have support from my older sis and of course, my whole family, friends, coworkers and most of all my husband :clap2: The best advice I can give is the following: 1. Read, read, read. There is so much information on these posts. [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Eating-Well-After-Weight-Surgery/dp/1569244537/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1195431499&sr=8-1][/ame] 2. Get a wt loss cookbook for lapbanders. 3. Help her get her preop list together and her post op list. 4. Help her walk, walk, walk. 5. Learn how to help her emotionally adjust to eating with others. Well thats all I can think of for now....good luck to her, and to you as well.....let me know how she does:D Debbie

If not, the first sign of one, and I am going to get a shot.....hopefully I am not working at the time......the boss is not very empathetic. Actually down-right beotchy if you know what I mean. Hey crazy8, my surgery is also booked for Nov 26th!:clap2: How is your preop diet going? I am on day 3 and have lost 2.5 lbs so far. I was so worried that I wouldnt lose the wt before surgery. So far I am on the rt track (I think). I am still hungry, but I am hanging in there.:faint: I am having surgery 45 min away, at 9 am. My doc is Dr Krish in Zephyrhills Florida. The staff are great, and I have met people, through the support group at the office. They were all so positive, and informative too. We have another meeting in December, I will be 2wks out. What I am looking forward to the most: FREEDOM FROM THIS BODY:bounce: Stay in touch, okay? Debbie

Lapband scheduled but waffling!
kuchiegrl1 replied to marymaz's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hey Mary: I wanted to let you know that you are not alone with your feelings. I too have felt this way, and so have many others on here. I would suggest you reevaluate why you are doing this, and try closing your eyes and picture you only 50-100 lbs lighter, picture all the things you will do, that you dont do now. Also, I have attended support meetings in my area. Its great to talk to people who have had the surgery done. At my support group they vary from 2wks post op - 7 months. Can you find one in your area? One other thing to keep in mind, keep reading on here. There have been many posts about the same thing. Remember, Knowledge is power. btw, my surgery is nov 26th. I am day one of preop diet. Good luck, and keep posting/reading. Debbie:whoo: -
Make33: Can you tell me how much wt you lost prior to surgery? I really like your preop diet....did you find it hard, or easy to follow?
-
Hey crazy8. I just started my 2wk preop diet. My doc suggested doing atkins (to a T). But I am panicky about it and not losing weight, I have heard people gaining wt on it. So I am trying this: Breakfast - one 8 oz Protein shake (GNC berry blend) lunch - same Supper - lean meat with green veggie steamed So far, I have a headache, which I read will happen for the first few days....so I just had a snack of 1 oz cheddar chz, cucumbers,sf popsicle. But upon reading the reply from above,,,,,I would like to follow that. That seems more tangible. Can you tell me how much wt you lost prior to surgery? :clap2: Thanks, Debbie

Did your Doc require a pre-op diet?
kuchiegrl1 replied to whosthatgirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hey all, I too have to do a 2wk preop diet. I told my doc that I did not want to pay for the opti-fast (taste, and cost). He suggested that I follow the Atkins diet to a T. I bought the book today, and I am nervous that I wont be able to lose the 10 lbs in 2 wks. I think I may just do 2 protein drinks, and 1 atkins meal ie: lean meat/steamed veggies. Do yall think that maybe this will work? :help: I am planning on buying all my groceries sat, after the support meeting at my surgeons office. I am also purchasing my post op list of stuff that I pulled off of here. Thanks everyone.....:clap2:
