PO VSG w/ lupus & diabetes
vsg_meredith replied to vsg_meredith's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 8 weeks post op today and I will tell you I have not lost weight as quick as others but I am losing . I have been back at the gym since 4 days after my surgery though and 2 days ago I got a trainer . Every part of my body hurts and I have had to look for different ways to eat because just the sleeve wasn't enough for me to lose . That being said I want to explain , I have several illness's and have been not eating correctly for some time . I haven't eaten enough or the right things ... Sounds funny coming from a WLS pt but yes I didn't eat enough so my body needed to adjust to pushing more calories in , in the beginning with all the protein shakes etc. . Now I'm doing Carb Cycling and that seems to be working ( atleast for now , knock on wood ) -

Have you tried the Carb Cycling diet and has it worked for you ?
vsg_meredith posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have had a very slow weight loss and I decided to read the book Carb Cycling by Chris Powell and skimmed through The fast Metabolism diet by Halyie Pomroy bc I have heard some success stories . At this point I'm willing to try just about anything to get my weight loss restarted , I feel that most of my almost 8 weeks have been a stall ( which they have ) I will go 3 weeks then lose 3/4 lbs then repeat the cycle . Anyways with that being said I started doing the carb cycling 3 days ago and I broke my stall & have lost 2 lbs since . My question is has anyone done it long term and how is it working for you and how did you adjust it to fit with your life due to WLS ? Thanks in Advance ???? -

Hi there , I'm so sorry to hear that your having such a hard time . I don't know how to PM on here but I'd love to exchange info with you so we can chat on fb or text , whichever you feel comfortable with . Pls let me know . -
I am 1 month PO and I have lupus , diabetes , Gastroparesis just to name a few of my illness's ... I was wondering if there are any other post op Vsg'ers out there that are willing to tell me how things are going for you . I'm feeling very hopeless right now as I have such low weight loss and am worried it could be this interfering . I have only lost 15 lbs in 30 days which 13 was lost in the first 10 days . Since the 23 rd of May I have lost and regained the same 7/8 lbs ... 24 days and I am stuck . I am going to the gym daily, getting in 70 grams of protein daily and my calories are 600-800 ... Thanks

Vsg 4 weeks out and struggling
vsg_meredith replied to vsg_meredith's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I get in 64ounces of Fluid everyday , some days maybe a little more . As for Protein , I was just last week told to decrease from 80-100 to 60-80 by nut and bariatric nurse . So I am also getting that in no problem . I am on MFP and track religiously , I go to the gym 3/4 days a week and use the treadmill and am spinning , both for 40 min each . That's all I am allowed to do for now , until I am 6 weeks out . I just feel the worst about the regaining I guess and I don't understand it . Have any of you had the problem that you became more hungry once you started eating purée ? I read one person said it was because of the introduction of carbs ? Hmm I don't know because I am really not eating that much at night just chicken or turkey and green Beans or broccoli . I don't care for the refried beans . And I agree that it is hard for others that haven't had weight loss surgery to understand what we are going through and for the sake of my marriage I'm so grateful for places like this !! -
Hi , I will be 4 weeks out from VSG surgery on wed , I didn't realize how emotional this would be . I don't know if anything could have prepared me for it . All the ups and downs . I thought my ups and downs would be better supported by " support system " boy was I wrong ... Anyways back to what I am writing about . I am struggling with my slow loss , stalls and regains ... I have had more than one of both . To date because of my regains I have only kept off 14 lbs I would have been down 22 and that sounds so much better !!! I stay under 800 calories and always get my protein in , so that's why I am so confused . Once I started purée I noticed I was much more hungry than I was while on clear and full liquids . That confuses me as well . I want to be successful at this so much that it hurts , any advise would be greatly appreciated !
