The surgeons office called. I have been approved and my surgery date is 12/3/2014! WHAHOOO! Here we go.
-
I was submitted for final insurance approval on 11/12/2014. My surgeon says my surgery will be before the end of the year. I fully expect a December surgery date. I am guessing the second week of December.

Congrats Jems for getting your date. Mine was submitted to insurance for final approval today. UHC says they will respond within 15 work days.

Definitely Not The Reaction I Expected @_@ Sad and Disappointed

The same thing has been going on with me lately and I have not even gotten a surgery date yet. My insurance (UHC required a 6 month supervised diet also. I have completed everything with the exception of the final diet appointment on 11/11/2014. Since this diet appointment is in the same office with the surgon they will submit to insurance for final approval at the time of this appointment. So this last month just waiting on this last thing to happen I have been kinda just blah. I kept thinking I am almost there why am I not more excited. I guess it is the fact that when your are jumping through all the hoops your adrenalin is up but once you have done everything it’s kind of anti-climactic. -
So December folks we are getting closer. How is everyone progressing toward a Dec 2014 surgery date? Met with my Doc this week and was told that they would submit to insurance on 11/11/2014 right after my 3:00 p.m. Diet appointment. Then as soon as the get the insurance approval we can schedule a surgery date and pre-op appointment. He also said since my BMI is now below 40 I will not need to do the 2 week pre-op liquid diet. Still being optomistic that I can have surgery the first week of Dec.

Which is the right order to take
Chrys2L replied to ThinnerMe2015's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I called my insurance company and ask for the requirements first. Then I called and scheduled an appointment with my primary care doc and the surgeon. So insurance had only 4 requiments and the surgeon has a few of his own. Insurance required: Pych eval, 6 month diet supervised, I must use a "center of ecellance" facility, and since my BMI was below 40 I needed to have at least 1 co-morbility. Surgeon required: (He determined these at the first appt.) Endoscopy Test for sleep apnea Pulmanary testing (heart stress test) I just tried to get all of them out of the way. -

On track for November...
Chrys2L replied to Quest4TheNewMe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We seem to be on the same track. My insurance requires 6 month diet. My final diet appointment is the first week of November. My insurance say they will give a response in 15 days. -
Anyone have United Health Care?
Chrys2L replied to mrsaizsha_101's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also have United Health Care through my employer. I have a BMI of 30 and 2 co-morbits (Type 2 diabetese, high cholesteral and also barretts dieses.) I had to do a 6mo supervised diet. I could have done the diet through my primary care doctor. The visits have to once a month and the appointments have to be specifically for diet. The doctor has to log your weight, the diet plan you are on, what exercise you are doing and how often. At least that is what UHC told me. I was also told that not all UHC policies required the 6 month diet it depended on the employer. I only have 2 diet appointments left. Oct and Nov and then my case can be submitted for final approval. I am hoping to have my surgery no later than the first week of Dec. UHC stated approvals will be processed within 15 days of submition. Hope this was helpful. The 6 months is a pain but it goes by faster than you would thing. Still not fast enough. -
I am also hoping for a December date. My insurance requires a 6 month supervised diet. My final diet appointment is November and then I can be submitted to insurance for final approval. I am guessing with the holiday the first week of Dec. would be the best I could hope for. 5'4' Current 220
