8 months progress pics!
lifestartsnow4me replied to LumpySpacePrincess's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You look amazing! -
Hope you get well Gomekast. I know the feeling with the gallbladder. I've had a stone for 10 years rarely ever bothers me and there is no infection and I was told it's too big to get in my bile duct so no surgery for me unless absolutely necessary.

I'm not a vegetarian but I love veggie burgers and some other vegetarian imitation foods so I will definitely try these products when I'm on solids. Thanks for sharing. -
Congratulations! You are doing great.

Is it normal to have lower back pain?
lifestartsnow4me replied to Gianacruz's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
That doesn't sound normal to me. I had some low back pain but nothing like what you are describing. I would try and get established with a bariatric doctor and soon. Most baratric doctors take self pay patients. You need a doctor here in case of complications and to monitor you. Good luck! -
June Gastric Sleevers Out there
lifestartsnow4me replied to skjerstad's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi all! I was sleeved on June 23rd and I'm down 21 pounds. My journey hasn't been as easy as some. I had lapband to sleeve revision and had lots of scar tissue. My very experienced surgeon said it was the worst scar tissue he's seen from the band. So as a precaution for leaks I have been NPO for 3 weeks, giving my stomach time to heal and doing TPN feedings through a PICC line. I started Clear Liquids this past Sunday after my doctor called me with my UGI results. I have 2 weeks of clear liquids, 2 weeks of full liquids, and 2 weeks of blended diet until I'm eating solids. I'm ok with that though. I'm just glad my UGI was negative for leaks. I have a doctor's appointment in the morning and hopefully my PICC line will be removed as I'm getting in the 64 ounces of Fluid that my doctor required of me before he would DC the PICC line. I would love to join a private FB page. -
Dont want to eat
lifestartsnow4me replied to Season26's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know how you feel. I have been on TPN through a PICC line for 3 weeks and was just given the go ahead to start my clear liquid diet. I do not have the urge to eat or drink and yes it is a chore at this point but I didn't have this surgery to create more medical issues for myself. I had it to be around to see my grandchildren grow up so at a little more than 3 weeks out I'm getting in at least 64 ounces of fluids daily. Come on you can do this!!! -
Congrats on your upcoming surgery. I had lapband to sleeve revision surgery on 6/23. Good luck. I'm sure you'll do great.

Unbelievable charge for VSG to my insurance
lifestartsnow4me replied to Bridget312001's topic in Insurance & Financing
I'm a nurse for a major healthcare insurance company and I can tell you that as long as the facility is in network they have contracted rates and won't pay the full amount that is on the EOB. -

My husband and I are on our way to the hospital now. I have to check in at 5:30. I got very little sleep last night. I was just too restless to sleep. I'm very nervous this morning but also relieved to get this lapband out and sleeved. I think I'm already morning the life I'm about to leave behind. Good luck to everyone having surgery today.

Does it cost more for a revision
lifestartsnow4me replied to A. Stoot's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I'm a lapband to sleeve revision. I didn't really ask my doctor if it were more. I just assumed so based off of being a precert nurse with a large healthcare insurance company. The reason being is because the doctor will be billing for both the procedure codes(CPT code) for the removal of the band and the VSG. Hence two different charges. Maybe this is done differently with a self pay but not for insurance. These are done as two different approvals regardless if they are done on the same claim/authorization or not. -
Congrats on your NSV. I know it must make you feel great. Keep up the good work.

HW 267(pre lapband) SW 239 CW 226 Sleeved 6/23 Still have regrets due to complications due to severe scar tissue from lap band removal. I have a PICC line and am NPO for three weeks as a precaution for leaks.
