lifestartsnow4me replied to cescelli's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Great job! Did you do anything differently to kick start the weight loss again? -
Current weight 198 Goal weight 179 Good luck everyone! Thanks for doing this!
-
Yay! I'm in. The Labor Day challenge helped me stay focused and I made my goal. SW for challenge 199 GW for challenge 179
-
199.6 goal met. Onederland finally. I didn't think I was going to make it because of the huge stall I had during the challenge but I did. Bring on the next challenge. Woohoo!

I am scheduled for lap band to VSG revision surgery June 23rd and I'm a nervous wreck. I know I need this surgery without a doubt. I don't know if it's because I'm in the medical field and know way too much about what could go wrong or if it's the fact that I'm a revision and I know that the complication rates are higher for me. I keep thinking I have two children and what if something happens. Wouldn't that be selfish? I know it's selfish the way I'm living now too. I hardly do anything fun anymore because I deal with the aches and pain and fatigue that comes along with being morbidly obese. I have prayed and I know God will watch over me but I can't get the fear out of my mind as the surgery date nears. Are any of you guys with scheduled revisions feeling the same way as I do? I think I will be a complete mess come surgery date.

I'm freaking out!
lifestartsnow4me replied to lifestartsnow4me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm not sure if you are talking to me but I'm assuming you are since I'm the OP. I would say at 5'4 and 242 that my weight was pretty bad. That is a BMI of 41.5 which qualifies me for surgery without the added comorb of hypertension that I have. I did have complications from the lapband as well. -

I don't have any regrets now. If you had asked me that 3 weeks ago I would have said yes. My recovery was harder than most because of all the scar tissue that I had from the band. I had a PICC line for 3 weeks and was NPO. I've been in a dreaded stall for the past 2 weeks so that too is a little disappointing. -
Going on two weeks of going up and down 2 pounds. So discouraging. I'm at 210 this morning.
-
210 this morning. Up a pound. I'm so frustrated right now.

I'm not sure but please do let us know what you think about it when you get it. I just purchased Les Mills Combat and I'm excited and nervous about that. I'm going to do the 60 day challenge.Good luck!

Is Lap Band a Cake Walk To Losing Weight?
lifestartsnow4me replied to NewMeDebbie's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was banded in 2004. I started at 267 and lost down to 160. The amount of work that I put into to losing that weight I'm sure I could have done on my own. It was just as hard to lose as before surgery. The difference was that I was just totally motivated. Once I got to 160 I started vomiting a lot and regurgitating everything up in my sleep and had horrible reflux. I even aspirated during a surgical procedure. I had all saline removed and ballooned back up to 242. Got a revision to the sleeve 6/23/14 and have lost 34 pounds to date. I'm excited to have the band out of me. My surgeon said that the scar tissue from the band was the worst he had seen. He said at first he couldn't even see the band when he went in. There was even scar tissue under the part of the band that was wrapped around my stomach. There is no telling what a few more years of having the band in could have done to my health. -

I'm in. Since I'm already doing a weight challenge this one will be exercise. I want to exercise a minimum of 5 days a week. -
I'm 209 this morning up a pound from yesterday. I hope this is not the beginning of a stall and just fluctuation.

Surgery and Aunty Flow on the same day
lifestartsnow4me replied to MrsHegarty's topic in The Gals' Room
I was on my cycle when I had surgery. It's really not a big deal. I'm a nurse so I knew it was nothing the surgery team hadn't seen before. I told them in holding before undressing and that was that. Don't cancel your surgery over a menstrual cycle. That's just a normal part of life. -
I'm dealing with the same issues. It's called orthostatic hypotension which is also known as postural hypotension. If you have a BP monitor take your blood pressure upon rising to be sure or simply call your doc. Just be careful when getting up and make sure there is something nearby to lean on so you don't fall. http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/orthostatic-hypotension/basics/definition/con-20031255

African American Sleevers

You are looking great Ria. Keep up the great work. I'm getting so close to onederland. I started this journey at an unrecorded 242. Doctor's recorded weight 239 and am now 208. Why is it the closer I get to onederland the more nervous I get? I'm almost 5 weeks out and can't really do more than walk due to lack of energy and occasional dizziness. -
June Gastric Sleevers Out there
lifestartsnow4me replied to skjerstad's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How do you like T 25? I was thinking of trying Les Mills Combat. -
I am also down 31 lbs. but it's been a struggle. My PICC line was removed last week and getting these fluids in has become a huge task. I seem to have early morning stomachaches too. Does anyone else have this problem? Hope everyone is well.

224 at the start of the challenge. 213 today. 8# loss from last week after having PICC line removed WOOHOO!
