    NSV shout outs

Sleeved 4/29. Weighed 287 at time of surgery. Not sure how much I weigh now, but I experienced my first NSV over the weekend. I had to fly home for my grandmother's funeral. I've never needed to use a belt extender but it usually was pulled to the hilt. Now, I was able to pull the strap back a few inches and the flight attendant was able to see the belt on my lap.

    Anyone in the PNW?

I am in Kent. Had surgery two weeks ago. I have searched for groups, but I wasn't very successful in finding one.
  3. Thanks everyone. I've done a pretty good job of avoiding those foods; however, the problem I am encountering is finding Protein shakes. We're in a small town. The best I could do is a low-carb Slim Fast shake with high protein. But that is about 17 grams. My sister had a Afkins Lift Protein Drink with 20g but she had to pick it up from another town. I'm actually struggling to meat my protein goals. I am making french onion Soup for a really late dinner. Tomorrow, I'll try to find Premier Protein.
  4. I had surgery just this past Friday. About fifteen minutes ago, I received a phone call from my sister, informing me that my grandmother passed away. When I was younger, I was particularly close to her. Then, I moved across country and hadn't traveled home to see her in a few years. She was 103 years old, so I am not truly surprised, especially since she had had two recent heart attacks that resulted in her being placed in a nursing home. She hated being there, and I feel her spirits were crushed. food has always been my coping mechanism. Feel happy. Get a treat. Feel sad. Get a pick-me-up. Well, now that a good portion of my stomach is gone, I'm going to have to find something--rather quickly--to help me get through this time. Sorry for unloading. Writing helps me process my emotions.
  5. I love to hear from folks who had the surgery! How did it go? How are you feeling? Who did the surgery (if u are ok saying)? I had my surgery done in Mexico with Long Term VSG. Today marks two weeks since my surgery, and I am still dealing with a bit of swelling. I have a few more days left on a liquid diet, then I will transition to soft foods.
  6. I was sleeved on 4/29. My drain opening still releases a bit of blood. I asked my surgeon and he said to apply neosporin to it. It hasn't really scabbed over, and I am not sure if that is worrying or not.

Three days post op having a wobble

Do you have compression socks? I wore them from surgery day then another four days.
  8. I am one week post-op and I am totally gripped by the head games. I love movies. All I have been thinking about all day is eating popcorn and mozzarella sticks. I'll be going home for my grandmother's funeral and I thought more about all of my favorite places to eat than I have about her death. All I think about is the food I could be eating if not for the surgery. Luckily, I realize it's just a head game, and I hope it subsides soon. Eventually, I'll be able to eat those things again-- but in much, much more moderated way.
  9. I don't think your stomach grows back. It's tissue which has been removed. As with all surgeries, there is swelling which may take time to go down. When the swelling is gone, that creates a bit more space.
  10. My doctor's instructions doesn't really address when I can have ground meats. It does mention that some patients experience discomfort with ground beef, and that pork should be avoided for about three months. I was thinking of making hummus with ground lamb (a Lebanese dish) during my soft foods phase. Are ground meats okay during that phase or should I wait longer?
  11. I was severely constipated after the surgery. I drank some warm prune juice with miralax and that worked like a charm. Since then, I do not trust a fart. Man o' man. From one extreme to the other. I cannot wait to eat some solids.
  12. I'm six days post-op and have four more days on Clear Liquids then another ten days on full liquids. It is amazing to me how much difference there may be between post-op diet plans.
  13. Thank you everyone. I like watching movies as an escape. I think I'll do that today. Thank you everyone. I like watching movies as an escape. I think I'll do that today.
  14. I am no where near my goal but I do remember a few years back. I had lost 80 lbs which drastically increased my confidence that I was able to achieve a goal; but when men starting grabbing my behind or being overly flirtatious, it frightened me. As I have written in my intro post, I am a survivor of sexual trauma. Even though I was in therapy at the time, my sessions were more focused on my relationship with my family versus reshaping how I saw myself. I am five days post-op and I won't make the same mistake again. I plan on getting some type of therapy. Just not sure what kind. I think you may benefit from therapy; you took care of the outside, now address your mind. Sent from my SM-G360T using the BariatricPal App
  15. I think the 40 grams of carbs should be 40 grams of NET carbs. Carbs - fiber - sugar alcohols = NET carbs An apple may have 8 carbs but with its fiber, you may only have 4 or 5 net carbs.

    Curvy girl clothing issues...HELP!

I disavowed Lane Bryant years ago when they had only low waist jeans. I was like, naw bruh. Surprisingly, my new favorite is the Kmart brand. Wide in the buttocks and hips, narrow waists, and they are straight leg. Cost about $20 each pair and made with a heavier denim than the Walmart brand so didn't wear holes in them quickly. 17. I am post-op, had surgery just this past Friday. So, I'm not really part of the group you are looking for, but I'm in Kent, Wa. Sent from my SM-G360T using the BariatricPal App
  18. I have not had a complete bowel movement in about 10 days. By complete, I mean full evacuation of my bowels in that time. I was on liquids pre-op and whenevee I change my diet, I become constipated. I told my surgeon and he said if I remain hydrated then constipation should not be a problem. Well, my urine is fairly clear so I assume I am hydrated and getting in liquids. It is at a point when my bowels feel full which is adding to my discomfort. There is gas then there is being full of poo and I'm full of poo. My surgeon said that I can have juices sometimes but they cannot have pulp. I am thinking of doing warm prune juice with Mirada but I am not sure if prune juice has pulp. What worked for you? Thanks Sent from my SM-G360T using the BariatricPal App

    Pre-op constipation

I always relied on prune juice. Today, I had to drink warm prune juice and miralax to flush myself out. Sent from my SM-G360T using the BariatricPal App
  20. Sorry for the gory details below. I drank warm prune juice with miralax. I believe there may have been some level of impaction because I had to elevate my legs to evacuate some of the hard stools. I have say the pressure is gone. It was becoming uncomfortable to even sit, but now I can feel my stomach and bowels are empty. Thank you all!
  21. Mirada should have been miralax. Auto-correct. Sent from my SM-G360T using the BariatricPal App
  22. I was sleeved on 4/29. I hit my low point on 4/30 when the heater was turned on in my room, and I wasn't hydrated enough to self-regulate my temperature. It was so hot that I left my bed and sat down at a table outside of my room. It was then that I regretted the surgery because I couldn't just go slam down some cold Water to quench my thirst and cool me off. It lasted about 15 minutes, but I eventually went back to my room and laid down. The nurse opened the window and turned off the heater. On 5/1, I was flying back home. At the airport, my eyes continued to droop. It was the hardest thing ever to stay awake. I just wanted to close my eyes and nap.

    Insurance will not cover

My insurance covers WLS but it required a six month waiting period. I was able to use my FSA for surgery in Tijuana. My surgery only cost me $3150. Sent from my SM-G360T using the BariatricPal App
