Hi Hi Stanhope, I am 4 days out and at this point only experiencing a little shoulder and chest pain and a little from the bruising. I went of pain meds 2 days ago but was feeling a little upper respiratory shortness of breath, I feel winded after my walks and trouble getting a deep breath. Did the Dr. give you something for your bronchitis? I hope you feel better soon. I think it's fair to say our bodies have had a lot of stress despite a rather quick recovery.

I know how you feel Missviscious, I have burst of energy, today is day 3 post surgery and they tell you to walk and it helps, but we took a long ride to the lake on a bumpy road to release the air in my stomach, that is the only real pain I was experiencing other than the premature yogurt. : ) I feel really lucky, no nausea, haven't taken the pain meds today and I get a little winded after walking a block but I tell you what I went shopping and didn't have any exhaustion, hmm psychological I suppose. I only took 2 hours off of work and will be going back tomorrow, I really hope it goes well! I have a desk job so I'm not to worried. Yea, Dr said do not eat any solids until follow up, we need to heal our bodies and do not want to risk any solid food lodging in our stiches for sure, no bending and no lifting. I'm glad it went well, I look forward to hearing your progress. I feel like I lost 10 lbs since Thursday but I do not think that's possible. I did have a hernia, I had no idea, and the Dr. repaired it so I was in surgery for well over an hour and insisted they take me off IV pain meds asap! Take care. -

I also have chronic headaches so I know how you feel! Mine have been worse the last 2 days because I've been on all liquids. Not eating for a while usually makes my headaches worse so that's my guess on why.. My headaches went away when I maintained my protein at over 100 grams a day and 64 oz of water do not let the headache win! good luck -

Are you traveling far? I had to travel so I brought everything during my recovery at a nice hotel. You won't need much, a toothbrush, and a robe. I was only there one night and had to use a walker, so slippers? The hospital provides everything be prepared for so when you leave make sure you have loose fitting clothes and a driver. You will need to pick up prescriptions afterwards to be clear to the nurse where you are picking those up. No time to read, so don't worry about that unless you stay longer. God speed your healing and hope all goes well! I am not hungry but I'm doing exactly what Dr said to, stay hydrated and I can hold down 8 oz without any nausea at a time. still recovering but I walk walk walk! Day 2 and on my way to successful healing. Missviscious how are you feeling? -

I had my procedure on Thursday and I am doing fabulous. I went shopping today to hit the July sales and suggest a lot of walking right after to rid yourself of Co2 right away. I am healing still and taking it easy. I'm holding down 8 oz of protein and water at a time and have no nausea. I fell lucky a little tired and still a little pain. good luck keep us posted, I did make the mistake of trying frozen yogurt that will not happen again until my recovery is complete. -

You should be just fine, just beef up your Proteins and you will not get hungry. I'm at 115 to 150 proteins a day and have not been hungry on the couple of days I didn't get enough in the last 30 days. I just doubled up on proteins when I needed to. Good Luck -
Scared for 2 week liquid diet
finallyfree101 replied to crazykim's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was dreading it, knowing I had a month of liquids. At first I had headaches as the toxins started being depleted from my system. I learned quickly to keep hydrated all the time and make sure I was getting as much protein as I could with each meal staying within about 1000 calories. I would have started probiotics right away had I known what I know now. Thursday after surgery, I will be looking forward to a whole new routine. I found organics soups brand to be a great flavor savor and added unflavored proteins to it to beef it up and change things up. Good luck it's not that bad and once you get through the first day or two you are on your journey for sure! -

You all are inspire me. I'm still pre op until July 3rd and was worried because I started at 316 lbs and started a 2 lbs loss a day, now for 2 weeks, I'm stuck and feel frustrated. I know it's process and cannot wait to change my life next week. I think it's amazing to see how successful all of you have been, it seems more natural to lose slowly than have an immediate change like that in our bodies. I'll be happy if I see any results right away and make the zip line weight limit at Yellowstone this year! keep up the great attitudes and moving forward! -
Any July 14th sleevers? What tips do you have for me? :)
finallyfree101 replied to Rarmenta84's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
July 3rd is my date, I've been on liquids for a month tomorrow and can't wait. Tomorrow is the beginning of your new life! I really didn't miss food until the last couple of days, I think my last meal was lobster, I wanted to do it right! You will hear some people get headaches the first few days, I did and learned real quick to keep hydrated and keep my Proteins at 115 or more to stave off fatigue. I then learned to start Probiotics right away!!!!! Walk and walk and more walking, I find yoga is helping and 53 lbs later I'm able to move like I haven't in years! BBQ's are tough and a real change if people don't know what your planning, so do tell them if you can. Keep busy, my yard looks fabulous, I'm working out in the yard as a tool to keep busy and work up my heart rate. I found the best Protein shakes are at costco for 30 proteins per 11 oz and $25 a case. You will drink 4 to 5 a day! I also include sugar free yogurt and pudding and the best organics brand Soups for dinner, added garlic salt and any other seasoning I could think of. a half a packet of top ramen Soup seasoning is awesome for around 40 calories. Protein drinks for creamer in my decaf and lots and lots of Water all day! I will be in Post Falls Idaho for the fourth to enjoy the fireworks and my new life! -

Hi Newbies, I'm scheduled for "the Sleeve," July 3rd. I am so ready for this! I've been on liquids for a month now and had trouble at first now I'm just trying to regulate my digestion with probiotics. Anyone else have suggestions about this? My Dr. office doesn't seem concerned about insurance issues, that's a little unnerving, yikes. I've lost 53 lbs since January although I started on my own and met with Dr. in February. I have not missed food until today and if I thought I wasn't having this Surgery on Thursday I think I would be in epic sabotage mode right now. Sooo Excited about my journey. I've found some inexpensive ways to flavor up my protein and still keep my calories at about 1000 a day. Yoga is helping with my center and balance, love the wii fit. I would love to hear how everyone is doing post surgery? I intend to journal the process, hopefully to share. Good luck everyone, it's an exciting and stressful journey but the end results will be worth it! -
I'm still preop but have used myfitnesspal since March, feel free to add me sabrinashropshsire is my username.

I will add you gemmasheringham, still preop until July 3rd!

Should I tell my boss I am having WLS or just say I need medical leave?
finallyfree101 replied to christo5's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I struggled with this too. I decided to only tell them what I needed to and leave the rest. They have to respect your privacy however, if you need more time off you should read your company policy manual on FMLA. I'm hoping to get through this with no time off, lol we'll see how that works. -

My Dr. requires your Gall Bladder be removed, I don't know if this is typical, I had my EKG and Labs done and will have to have an endoscopy day of surgery, they told me I will be pretty doped up by that point.
