My surgery was 6/5/14 and I am having a terrible time with this as well. I'm hoping not to have to make a visit to the ER.

Thanks to all who responded. I'm eager to get my salad eating started! I typically use French dressing but noticed all the sugar in it What dressing do you use?

showering - how long
Kelly827 replied to Dawnakers's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I showered the day after surgery. I was asked if I wanted to "wash up" and I told the nurse I would prefer to shower cause it would make me feel better. My incisions weren't draining so I was god to go! -
Is disgusting. That is all : )

Chewable calcium citrate

How long has it been since your surgery and also what multi vitamin are you using now? -
Chewable calcium citrate

I don't even know what to think about chocolate flavored. I have wild cherry and when I bite into it the taste goes up my nose and I just want to spit it out. I did try the lozenges that were a sample pack from my NUT (before I knew I was supposed to use them) and I can eat those all day long! -
Chewable calcium citrate
Kelly827 replied to Kelly827's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think I get to graduate to them at my 6 week check up. I am only 3 weeks post op right now and my dr wants me to use the chewable. I can tolerate the chewable muti vitamin with no problem but the calcium citrate is nasty. Can't wait till I can do the lozenges. -
What ya eating tonight?

I have had eggs with no difficulty. -
I buy the chocolate premier shakes from costco. Only 1 gram of sugar.

I am on puréed stage as well. My go to food has been cottage cheese with a bit of pineapple. On occasion I will do a scrambled egg or some Greek yogurt. Can't wait till the end of the week when I can attempt the soft foods! -
Just had my first try at milk but limited it to only 1/2 cup of 1%due to the sugar level. So far so good. What were your experiences with milk post op?
-
Thanks for the info. With only being 2 weeks post op the sugar contents worry me. I was told to stay under 8 grams of sugar per meal so not to dump so I am super scared about the milk since it is 12 grams per cup. Any more advice you can give would be greatly appreciated.

New Food For Post Ops...

I would like a copy too if anyone has it. Email is kellygirl_827@yahoo.com. Thanks so much! -
How many sugars are you being told to not try and go over per meal? I am getting conflicting info and worried about dumping due to stupidity.

I've lost a pound since Monday. I keep telling myself it's because I'm eating some foods now and not straight liquid. Honestly, I am forcing myself to eat 3 very small meals. I still don't feel hungry at all. Tho when I am watching Tv I think "if I hadn't had the surgery I would probably be snacking on something right now. "

I had surgery June 5 and have lost 22 pounds. I unfortunately do the same by checking my weight every day. It's hard not to! I know not to expect large results all the time but it would be nice if it happened that way.

Ok - I looked for tomato soup today but the sugar content was crazy high! I did pick up cream of chicken which was pretty. Having a hard time with the protein too.

Thanks for the suggestions! I started with cottage cheese today. A little nervous about trying stuff tho since I'm not sure how my body will react to it now.
