That is really weird - the port is titanium and should not set off a security device. I have flown so many times without incident. I am sorry this happened to you.

It has changed over time for me. Lately it is ham and apple peels.

Last year I decided to start all new traditions that selfishly meet MY needs. I don't attend Thanksgiving feeding frenzy. I cook something unique just for DH and me. We are not decorating the outside of our house because we travel during December - and the Texas wind can bring down house lights. I do most of my shopping online. My stress level has dropped so much since I decided to relax a bit during holidays.

Wow, I must be hanging out in the wrong places! This is a tough journey for all of us, and perhaps the more experienced bandsters feel more comfortable sharing their experiences. That is very different than being judge and jury - it is just relating experience. We all want to be successful, and we all have difficult periods. I guess I would understand more if you were to call out some specifics instead of generalizing about the more experienced bandsters.

This is making me crazy!!! I have Time Warner Cable, which has not resolved their battle with NFL Network. This means that I will not get to see the Thanksgiving Day games at home. I have watched my Dallas Cowboys plays every Thanksgiving for as long as I can remember and I am pissed off! The government can go after Microsoft for years, when the public didn't ask them to; but they ignore the cable companies that take all choice away from the customers. This is just wrong! Why can't I order the 20 channels I want, and see what I want? Why do I need 800 channels???? We get gouged by cable companies every day - who is watching over them?
-
Ahhh the marble pound cake! It's been ages since I had one of those. I do get Starbucks NonFat No Whip hot chocolate most days, and maybe I'll splurge tomorrow and split a marble pound cake with my DH. Yummmm!
-
We have to get the extended cable because my DH loves the History Channel - it is about the only one he watches. Let me pick the 5-10 channels I want and pay for those.
-
I'd get mad if that weren't such a silly comment! :kiss2:
-
Yeah it's complicated to me too. I've always believed that only God has the power to forgive, but that's just my thought. I will generally do whatever it takes to get past a bad situation. I just don't see any power in my 'forgiving' someone else when I have so many faults of my own.

Yeah, I definitely identify with this! I am thinking of buying padded panties that lift and shape the heiny!

Do You? You know use that word!

I have tried to understand racism all my life. When I played softball as a young adult, I was invited to play on an all-black team. It was a great experience for me - I learned so much about people. When I worked in D.C. as first a Program Manager, then a Director - my teams were global. As a white female, I was definitely in the minority. I worked for a minority owned firm, and I was often the only white person in the boardroom. Again - it was a great experience for me, and I learned much. That said - I did see racism. I even experienced racism on a small scale. It was sad, and usually derived from ignorance. Someday I hope we can move past that - I would love to see racism disappear in my lifetime. -

Nope - we were just raised differently. No offense intended. And racism is an ugly issue that impacts all of us - regardless of color. I will fight it every chance I get. -

I very much agree with you on this. I do not buy into the saying that respect is earned. Being raised in the South, we were taught to respect our elders, people of authority, adults, well just about everybody until they did something to show otherwise. And then you tried to understand and move on before disrespecting anyone. I have been lectured on my views so many times in my life, but being nice is just easier and feels better. -
Go for the Dell - they are top rated laptops now. Dell owns Alienware, and those are geared toward high end gamers. And the new Dell laptops come in colors and they have some amazing deals going on. I have a house full of Dell equipments (uh, of course I work there too).

I finally decided that there is no reason for me to "celebrate" Thanksgiving anymore. It is an eating frenzy, and I come from a large family of girls and everybody is a great cook. So last year DH and I stayed home and enjoyed a quiet day, and that is our new tradition. What do you do for Thanksgiving?

What are your favorite, but hated Stereotypes...
Chelle B replied to SlimTarnishedDiva's topic in Rants & Raves
I'm a natural blonde too who add lowlights every month so that the natural blonde looks like the highlights. I like looking like a girl, and work in a male dominated industry where I am not expected to be technical because I am a blonde female! Sheesh it gets boring, but I have fun letting them stagger through before I jump in to resolve an issue. -

Never! It is an evil word... -
Yup - I agree. And I think most people take way too many things in life seriously. Life is fun - enjoy the ride!

Yeah, but do you keep the oven turned on?
-
The last time I took on the responsibility of cooking Thanksgiving dinner was 5 years ago for my in-laws. The dinner was well planned. The turkey was in the oven. Boiled some eggs. When the timer went off for the eggs, I by habit turned off the oven. Noticed it a few hours later...... Use your imagination from that point.
