Lip gloss? I never used it, or lipstick, until I found Benefit 24K lip glass. And now I am hooked on it. It is gorgeous over any color, or alone. I also have the Benefit 24k lipstick. 24k sexy gold lip gloss : Benefit Cosmetics

Eating has always been a bad one, thank goodness for my band. Lately I have swapped that one out for shopping. So I will go in for a few therapy sessions to stop the addictive behavior of shopping. I count. Things. I am obsessive when I "get a notion"; and I won't let go of it until resolved. Oh why did you ask this? I like to pretend I am normal.

My Rant before a break (Strong Words so enter at own Risk)
Chelle B replied to TommyO's topic in Rants & Raves
Your first rant is the reason I went into the I.T. field a long time ago - I so prefer to work with guys who will say it as they see it, and then move on. I have called women out before for the ambiguous "this person..." remarks - what a freakin cop-out. If you can't give the whole story then don't say anything at all. People should have the ability to defend themselves, and calling folks out by name will put a stop to the crap quickly. And to add to your rant what about those people who jump in after someone gets nasty just to add support, "Yeah what SHE said!" Sheesh... -
Ok this happened one too many times and I have to rant. Why don't people use cut and paste when forwarding jokes etc? I really hate opening a forwarded email of a forwarded email of a forwarded email and so forth; with the only text being "Note: forwarded message attached." before you hit the one with the detail. If you have to click through 17 of these, then freaking copy it before sending it on. I delete after one or two clicks because I don't have the patience for it. What email etiquette (or lack of) things irk you???

I still hold that it is easier to be happy, nice and giving - than to try and be "right" all the time. I'm sure not wise enough to have all the answers, and I am constantly learning new things. As for the religion debate? Well don't we need to DIE to have some real answers? I can wait.

What about all those people who thought they were voting for Bush Sr.? :whoo: And BTW I have to look up every acronym you use, Lauren, so I definitely learn from you.
-
Ok - don't pick on Eminem. He has always talked like that.

Good attitude, Phyllis. I should probably avoid these discussions, but I just can't help myself! Keeps me out of the kitchen tho.

I am 100% in agreement with that statement.

It is an interesting topic by any definition. Not sure what level of intelligence you are seeing in all this. :heh: True intelligence is based upon logic and reasoning; abstract thinking; ability to understand and comprehend beyond your personal beliefs. The ability to understand is the key to intelligence. I'm not sure we are seeing this ability or maybe the desire to understand another point of view. Me, I respect the opinions of those who can keep the meanness and emotion out of their arguments. (Those who write in the tone of "I am RIGHT so YOU must be wrong", if you know what I mean.) it sure feels like defensiveness to me when the tone goes down those paths. And when someone gets defensive in their arguments I tend to start tuning them out as they may have issues that can't be resolved online. My posts are generally to ask questions, and promote healthy debate. Occasionally I do post my own beliefs as not to look like a cop-out. But my way of thinking is less important than the potential stimulating debates that are possible when folks leave their egos out of the equation. Ideally we would debate these great subjects, and leave our own personal beliefs out of the discussion. Then, and only then, would we all learn something new. Whew....'nuf said.:faint:

Actually Gates was always trying to push the envelope on technology more than just selling a product. It was many years before MS became customer focused. Not even the best trained scientist is infallible, and we have enough variance in most tests to make multiple arguments as to the validity of them. Not to push, but are you sure it doesn't matter to you what someone believes? :heh:

One of the reasons Bill Gates was so successful with Microsoft was that he chose not to staff his company with techies. For example, Nathan Myrvold, former Microsoft CTO, was a Master Chef. Gates looked for incredible thinkers - and the interview process often lasted 8 hours. Anyone who displayed a closed mind about anything was not considered for a job. I worked there in the mid 90's and loved it. Arguments happened all the time, but you rarely saw anyone try to cut people off. If you couldn't see the other side of an argument, then how could you make yours airtight? We often had to take the opposing view in a discussion to move on - great tactic. A good book to read is "How Would You Move Mount Fuji?: Microsoft's Cult of the Puzzle -- How the World's Smartest Companies Select the Most Creative Thinkers". It would make for a really interesting discussion if we each took the other viewpoint and really went to bat on it. Over margaritas of course (can you tell it's been months since I had one?). And nothing in life is really irrelevant, IMHO. Amazing ideas come from the most unexpected sources.
-
Good thing we have no laws governing our beliefs and views on life, love, religion, and politics. Just giving you a hard time in a friendly way. I have a particular dislike for the word irrelevant, for other reasons.

Oh I'm in! I buy so much stuff from Amazon - thanks!

"Irrelevant"???

'08 - Who do you want?
Chelle B replied to smatyas's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
We need a major change - so at this time I am leaning toward Hillary. -
Prime membership??? Where have I been?
-
I LOVE online shopping, and the stuff shows up at my door. Amazon is the best, because of the free shipping at $25! And they carry everything - I hate shopping in the crowds with blue haired old ladies pushing you out of the way for a bargain.
-
Oh Lauren, I can't even click the link. I detest him with a passion. What a disgusting excuse for a man he is.....
-
I deleted my thread because it obviously didn't make the points I intended to.
-
Oh yeah - I detest those! What about the ones that say if you send to x number of people, your computer will do something spectacular at a specific time? I delete so many emails, that might actually be interesting if it weren't for the or else messages...
-
This landed under my posts - surely you aren't referring to me??? I am a believer....
-
Hey, I'm just jealous that you can argue a point longer and harder than I will ever be able to. I tire out too easily.:notagree

I think I will understand Catholic teaching more after going through RCIA. From my DH's POV, it is all about guilt.
