Noragretz replied to Nikki Monroe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
bottom pic is 10 months post op. You really can't see them. I'm happy with my surgeon for being so careful. Even through all the tiger stripes. 5# to goal!! Cw 137 -
Anyone whose goal weight is less than 100 pounds?
Noragretz replied to Essence46's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am struggling too. Just 10 pounds to goal and I'm stuck! It has been a long slow process with lots of stalls. I am 9 months out. I've lost about 65 total so far. Hang in there! -
Good day! I weighed the same... 143.2 ????

Three dried apricots a day will keep things moving.

I'm in Casa Grande, I had to self pay. Arizona docs were higher priced than other states. I traveled to Nevada for surgery. But I attended a seminar with Dr Fang here in Arizona, that's when I decided to just have surgery - as I was attending with a friend.

Hi there. I had the sleeve done with Dr. Umbach in Las Vegas/Henderson NV. It is out patient, and they have lots of traveling patients. It was $10,400. But I don't think they finance you. I got a loan separately and self paid. Boyfriend and I both had it done at the same time and we have had no complications. We were on the strip 2 days after surgery.

Ha ha mine are huge and quite permanent!! The fine line ones are not really noticeable.

There is a way to search your doctor on this site. You can also search previous posts about that doctor. -

Maybe I am atypical, but the sleeve didn't help with hunger
Noragretz replied to chunkyloverlovesyou's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ugh I'm so there with you on this. I've been hungry the whole time! Im 8 months out. I was on an acid pill for 2 months prior to surgery and 6 months after for duodenal ulcers. So I know it wasn't acid, I can now tell the difference in acid "hunger" feel, and real hunger. This is real hunger with actual growling like it did before surgery (no growling with acid). Only thing now when it growls and spasms in hunger - it doesn't hurt like it did before surgery. What I found helps is eating solid Protein, (poultry, beef, fish, eggs) instead of processed Proteins like cheese, milk, yogurts, Protein drinks. Cutting out artificial sweeteners, keeping carbs low, and sugars lower. Also I noticed if I stop snacking and reduce eating to the three meals and maybe one snack im not as hungry as often. Drink lots of Water too, water helps soothe the growling too and chewing some gum. Hang in there. Try cooking up some chicken and eat 3 oz of chicken every 2-3 hours wether u are hungry or not, then after about a week start spreading the time out to set meals of chicken and a vegetable. -
Same here. My boyfriend and my daughter who is 20. My son (11) doesn't know. No parents or siblings. My boyfriend had the surgery at the same time, his daughter took care of us. I told my daughter in case something happened to me. I'm also embarrassed to admit I resorted to wls.

Could you have cystitis? Irritation of the bladder lining. Can be from something your eating or drinking or medication you are taking. Not drinking enough water can also irritate the bladder. Sounds like you are just out of surgery, maybe get some poise pads to wear for the leaks until it gets better.

Chug, gulp... I guess I'd rather say that I chug the Water rather than gulp it. What happens when you chug too much??? Lol, You can't get anymore down, your stomach is so full you can't even swallow and you have to go dump out what's in your mouth.... Unfortunately I've done that a few times, and is very uncomfortable.

I paid $10500 in Las Vegas, self pay cash price.

Need advice, new to site-Self pay all up front?
Noragretz replied to tiffanymarie6997's topic in Insurance & Financing
MsPBandJay I saw Dr Umbach in Las Vegas for around $10500, it was out patient and they do patients all over the USA. -
I'm 7 months out and I can gulp down 1/2 of a 16.9 oz bottle at once on a good day on an empty stomach. If I stay focused I can drink the whole bottle in 10 minutes. But my tummy has to be empty.

Lower-end BMI Sleeve Surgery. Any others?
Noragretz replied to Kevineastwest's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi katyh2015, unfortunately it's REALL Y boring!! I have a hard boiled egg and 1/2 avocado for breakfast. Or hard boiled with homemade refried or whole pinto beans. Mid morning is more protein (hard boiled egg, or chicken, or protein bar) Lunch is more protein and vegetables (chicken or lean steak, whatever fresh or cooked vegetables, maybe the other half of avocado, Mid afternoon snack is almonds and a baby bell, or protein bar (quest bar), or cottage cheese Dinner again is more protein - (chicken, steak, pork) vegetables again. Evening snack - almonds, meat, baby bell, or protein shake, or boiled egg, or cottage cheese. Now I only eat 1 quest bar in a day. Sometimes I just eat half and eat the other half later. I will likely add a fruit back in at the end of my 4 weeks, but then again the weight is now melting off again - maybe I'll just wait. I grilled up a whole bag of those chicken breast cutlets yesterday. That will last me a couple days. I cooked 5 of them in the crock pot with homemade salsa and had spicy shredded chicken. I rub olive oil on the meat before I cook it. And sometimes I put shredded cheese onto my vegetables (about 1 tablespoon) I have just one crystal light caffeine pouch in the morning and water with stevia lemon drops the rest of the day. I lost another pound from yesterday. I'm only 6.5 months out. I only lost 3lbs in December, 2 in Jan, 1-2 in Feb, and 1 in March before I started. I've now lost 6 pounds since speaking with my NUT in the middle of March. And like I said, I'm working out much less, and actually consuming more calories. -

Noragretz replied to Kevineastwest's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there everyone, I hope u all are doing well. I haven't posted in a while here but I just wanted to pass along some great info from my NUT. I have had some VERY slow weight loss. So I started tracking everything. My fitness pal for calories and food journal, heart rate monitor for exercise, polar loop for daily activity/calories burned. I gave it to my NUT, asked how I could be consuming 900-1000 calories a day, burning 400-600, and not be losing. My NUT lectured me! My body is not a calorie counter, it's a chemistry lab! You see even though my calorie count was low, I wasn't making the best food choices. A bite of brownie here, a slice of bread there. Sugar here, carbs there. On top of that I was doing lots of high intensity cardio. Run 3-4 miles then do weights. Or some kind of intense cardio for 40 - 50 min. Now running puts my heart rate into the 80% zone or more if I'm really going fast. I was craving bad foods and sugar, I was super hungry and not losing weight. Anyhoo... This is what I was told to do.... Protein first! (Duh) vegetables too. No fruit for 4 weeks. Start taking probiotic (I wasn't taking it) stop counting calories. No bites of anything. Just stop that now! No bread!!! Eat more fats (healthy fats) No more cardio - lifting weights only She thinks I was having an overgrowth of yeast (because of the cravings and constant hunger, and lack of poo) Also the intense cardio is stressing my body too much and I'm producing too much cortisol causing me to stall. So now I lift weights, walk on the treadmill keeping my heart rate in the 60-75% range no higher. I'm keeping my sugar consumption to under 15 grams carbs are under 25 grams. I'm pooing daily and the scale is moving again. Thank the lord!!! Oh and since I'm still tracking in my fitness pal I see that I'm actually eating more calories now 1200-1300 and burning less at the gym. But the scale is moving. Boggles my mind!! But I just wanted to pass along this info. I know a lot of us lightweights are more prone to probably exercising too much like I was. -

34.5 Bmi. Self pay. But I have an exclusion to any Bariatrics or weightloss procedures/appointments/medications anyways. So co-morbiditues didn't matter. But I do (had) have a couple of them. -
