How to end the stall
#9grammy replied to bookgirl1972's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a month out also and at a stall for a week now. I've upped my water intake it's not helping. I've only lost 15 pounds since surgery, 30 all together with the 6 month nut visits. Still on pureed foods which are yuck, like eating baby food. Which I've not done. Still I'd like to see some extra come off but will keep on trucking if it doesn't. I'm sure in time it will start up again. -
I too have been on a stall for 4 days now and tomorrow will be 3 weeks out for me. I've lost 15 pounds since surgery and do know that is a lot of weight to lose in a short time. Also I've been hungry, it's not stomach acids I take protonics for that. It's real hunger. I'm 57 also have a low BMI so I'm thinking that is why I'm on a stall.
-
And I'm finally on puréed foods for 4 weeks! I don't know if I can do this... Today I pureed chicken with some chicken broth, it was awful! I also did some carrots they weren't bad. How in the world do you make it on pureed foods? Looks to me like I'll be drinking my shakes for the next 4 weeks. The Drs office told me to purée chili, chicken, turkey get my Protein in, how do you do it? Also I've lost 14 pounds in 2 weeks and now down 29 # since doing the 6 months diet and 2 weeks. Which is good but I'm at a stall haven't moved in 3 days, I thought it came at 3 weeks. Guess I'm just frustrated over the pureed foods.
-
I'm doing fine with pain, just not liking the foods. I did open refried beans and sauce with cheese, it was delish. Eating cottage cheese, slice cheese and my daughter is fixing broccoli and cheese soup soup for me tomorrow. Yes a lot of cheese, but I did stop at Wendy's and got a cup of chili I will try pureeing before I make a pot. Then there is the shakes in between I'm not so crazy about. When you can't smell and your taste is off because of it then the chocolate shakes are not my cup of tea lol.

I've not had any problems with pureed foods, haven't tried an egg yet it's not on my list of pureed foods. Today is day 18 for me.

Will be so nice to be 6 weeks out and eat! Now it's hard at 2 weeks out deciding what to drink. Going out for dinner and ordering the soup isn't to awfully bad. -
Congrats ...

I've never sipped my fluids, except when I was in hospital using the little cups. I can take small drinks and have been able to since being home.

I have a container of chocolate and chicken soup mix and samples that I can UPS to someone for the cost of shipping. Just email me at ekblue@comcast.net

I used to love the premier chocolate now it's so bad but I'm still trying to drink them since I have 24 of them left. The vanilla is the one and only shake I can drink. I have the Unjury chocolate canister and chicken soup and samples if someone out there wants to try. US only I can UPS to them for cost of postage.

Post Surgery (As in just out of Hospital) Weight Gain
#9grammy replied to babelfish5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I gained 11 pounds in the 3 nights I had to stay, very disappointed in the huge weight gain. I did lose it in 4 days though and I'm still losing a pound a day. Down 26 pounds since my journey began in April. Today I got out my size 14 jeans and they fit, not tight at all in fact they were falling off me. Boy I was dancing in my room with joy! -
Medications in chewable form
#9grammy replied to crystalmaries's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon said if it's the size of a m&m its ok to swallow. -
My taste changed, I can't find one I like now. Was drinking the premier protein cho one, it's horribe now so drinking the vanilla. Even the Unjury cho one is gross and I have a canister full of that one.

You go girl, I must've been sleeved the same day as you 27 Oct. I've gotten out yesterday and today and walked, came home tired but also felt good for being out. I need to get the polish back on my fingers and toes also. One day at a time. Welcome to the other side. -
Ladies there is a group for the 50's it's called... New to the Fifties. It has like 29 pages to it now, lots of good people on it and lots of information. I'm 57 just had the sleeve done a week ago. Doing well now getting in my fluids, wish I could do more but one day at a time. Come on over to the fifties group and check us out.

I thought for sure I would be in the hospital 1 day!
#9grammy replied to nikki9's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OMG yes the alien tube, worse pain I felt in years, even labor didn't hurt that bad. Glad your home and hope resting well, the exhaustion will continue a few days until you can get all that fluid in like they want you to. Mine has been 8 days now and I'm still sore in the insissions but my exhaustion has been lifted. At least this morning I feel I can do many things I couldn't do before. Rest as much as you can and use your pain meds, I got a large bottle liquid elixir and still have 1/2 of it. So won't take long just hang in there. -

Yes I too have a road map of scars from my first born, he was a super size baby and to this day he is still super sized. He won't even consider this surgery, says he loves to eat and he's a healthy fat man. He may be healthy now but give it time, he's got the heart issues on both sides of the family. I can't even scare him to lose some weight. His job is a 911 operator so he sits 12 hrs a day, rest of the time he's in the bed, not up unless he's off a couple days. Wow sorry got odd on the wrong side, guess that's my rant for the day. -
Yes the G2 is lower calorie, LainieG I'm so sorry for your weigh in. Shoot my scale is digital and now I know runs 3 pounds from surgeons and most of the Drs I've been to. When is your surgery again? It's so hard to keep everyone's date, you should really stop the diet sodas now. I had to stop them also and it was hard going from 3-4 a day to none . But I can drink water and G2 if I'm feeling run down, it does have a pick me up in it. Never was a juice drinker and I've tried the V8 juice it's nasty to me. Right now the shakes which are horrible now since surgery and water are my friends. Good luck on your soda challenge, keep that head up.

Miscellaneous questions
#9grammy replied to Aribay1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was hungry today, 6 days out. I made cream of wheat with brown sugar, made it creamier than should've been. Dr called, I asked after the fact and they said it was fine. Might do liquidy oatmeal"... I've also had Apple sauce no sugar added, can only do 1/4 cup of the small container. So is something you can try. Scaring, cocoa butter is great if you can't manage the maderma scar cream. -

Had my first day out... Had a Drs apt. Waited there for almost 2 hours what a killer. Then we did a bit of running here and there. Went to SAMs club, seeing now I'm having a problem with the chocolate premier shakes I got a couple boxes of vanilla. I know I'm 57 yrs old but heck it bit me in the butt today, lol. My **wounds** lol we're all closed with a glue, all 6 of them. The one where the tube came out is left open to drain. How were yours closed up? Just never have had the glue before, looks funny hanging off on some of them. Sure hope they don't scar bad. -
Good luck too you both going to the hospital, wow it's life changing. Keep your finger on that pain pump
