You surgeon will give you a date as soon as insurance approves. Good Luck

I would say yes you can have honey for your tea. Your throat hurts and it will help it, one cup of tea with honey isn't going to hurt. It's when you have that second and third cup, that is what gets you in trouble. Occasionally sure, I have one now and then in the winter months or sometimes when I can't sleep. It's not a every day thing.

I also had my primary doctor refuse to give clearance. He said it was way to much paper work to go through and Medicare is very hard to get approval from. I went to a bariactric surgeon for my first appointment, he recommended me to a primary care dr, who after 2 visits agreed I would be a good candidate for the sleeve. I saw this doctor for 6 months with weigh ins and nutritional information. So I agree you look for a Bariatric dr, they will help you. Good Luck

I have Medicare, it was a six month wait for me. But they did the surgery before they got the approval. So Medicare didn't pay the doctor, all I paid was 240.00 for the co-pay.

Never did, as long as they were small as a m&m it was good. Cut others in half. I'm on theophylline and they are big capsules, I took those with no trouble.

Yes, I have. I lost 50 pounds and had great relief, I still have sob upon exercertion but the breathing at rest is much better. I can do do more housework and walking than I did, I'm still on O2 at night but during day only as needed.

I used smooth move tea and went like there was no tomorrow! Now a couple prunes (dried ones) and I keep on being normal. -

2bullymom, I think it was I just couldn't believe I was smaller. I kept buying 14-12 pants and I'd wear for an hour and they would be baggy, really bad. So I went in and got a 10, now I can wear some 10's and some 8's. But my top I like it bigger, do have some larges as long as they hide the belly flab lol. Hang in there you to shall get down and it's a great feeling. If I couldn't lose any more than the 50 I have I will be happy. My new husband loves the new me, well he loved me before but I get more compliments now.

Look up the New to the Fifties group. There are a lot of posts there and all over 50. I was 57 when I had mine done, and I feel great!

Have any of you been told not to have Gummie calcium? I can't remember and I just brought home 2 jars from SAMs.

You have lost 59 pounds I'd say that's great for 5 months. I'm down 50 pounds and my dr is so happy with my results. I have next to no exercise due to my COPD and I'm stalled out at 164! Eating all the right foods , walking as much as I can. Hang in there your doing great I say!

I'm on BP pills and was able to take them whole after surgery. You can swallow pills the size of m&m's without crushing is what my surgeon said. Good luck.

I have Medicare and had to go through the hoops! 6 month weight and cardio, psych dr. My doctors office never submitted the paper work first ! So Medicare won't pay the doctor but covered the surgery.

LisaGB, that's so great! Keep on doing what your doing must be right!!!

I am 6 months out also, saw the doctor on Tues. He said I was doing great at my weight loss. I've lost 50 pounds so far and I'm so happy, if I have to stay here at this weight then so be it. Yes I'm on a stall, but my clothes are getting way big. I went from a 18 pant to a 14, then 2 weeks later I'm in a 10. Yep so happy, but those got loose and I went shopping yesterday I'm a size 8 now woo hoo! Haven't lost any in 2 weeks but in inches I have lost. So hang in there the scales will move again. I had a 1 1/2 month stall in those 6 months but then the weight loss started again. Just b happy with what your doing, might kick up the calories a bit. I still have an Unjury shake in the am, dr said it was great. Good luck

I had my 6 month check up yesterday dr said I'm doing great! But I haven't exercised since mid March. I have COPD & Asthma. So in March I came down with Bronchitis, haven't been breathing good since then. But I'm down to 164, dr said 150-155 is his goal. I must be doing something right because I'm still loosing. I love it, a new me... My legs are gone and my boobs are gone still have some around the middle to lose. I just love my sleeve!

9days PostOp: Not hungry...barely eating
#9grammy replied to ladycook9713's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How about trying Unjury protein drinks, I can't handle chocolate of any kind so I drink the vanilla for breakfast every morning. Yes still after almost 6 months. Since you are early out try the cream of chicken soup, broccoli soup mushroom soup. I preferred the chicken myself. Just don't eat the chunks yet. I didn't strain it but some people out there did, was just careful. You can see the little bits of chicken in it. -
Average Post Op Diet?
#9grammy replied to debbie813's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I go out to dinner or breakfast all the time. Well 2-3 times wk, breakfast my go to is scrambled eggs and cheese and a sausage roll. Dinner usually chicken salad, Red Lobster I get the salad with tiny shrimp on. Salmon with broccoli is a go to at OCharlies. Most places have chicken or fish and order a veggie. I bring at least 1/2 if not more home. Good luck -
Insurance denial day before surgery :(
#9grammy replied to Rncbarbie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery was scheduled and done before my paper work was sent to insurance! Yes the doctors insurance lady said you submit after surgery. Well now they are eating the bill, I have Medicare and Tricare. Tricare doesn't pay for wls and Medicare you have to be pre approved. I had the 6 month nut appointments, did all the pre-ops they requested and had the surgery back in Oct 14. Since it wasn't pre approved Medicare won't pay and says I'm not responsible for their bills either. Haven't heard a thing from hospital either! -
I received news from my case worker yesterday that Medicare needs no approval. Has anyone else has the sleeve with Medicare as your ins? They gave me a date of Oct 27th for surgery. Just said they send all your paper work in after surgery. I've had to jump through hoops with all that I've done so here's hoping she's right. I don't want to go through the surgery and find I owe the dr and hospital. To be safe I think I'll call medicare myself.

LainieG , I'm so sorry for your loss, I know how hard it is to loose a member of your family.
