So anybody else want to do bodily harm to their psych?
#9grammy replied to Ginger Snaps's topic in Rants & Raves
I see my psych. every 3 months for medication, also see a counselor every other week. Doc you think I could've used one of them? My psychologist has written these letters b 4. But my surgeon has a specific psych that he sends us too, so I will be seeing him. Just glad my ins is paying for it. -
NEWBIES..... LETS STICK TOGETHER
#9grammy replied to pattiecakes79's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have heard from another post that if you take Biotin (at drug store) it helps with hair and nails and your skin. Start taking now to get it all in shape. Google it and you can read for yourself. -
Congrats Joysdelights on your weight loss and even going for it at this stage of your life. See it doesn't matter what age people are and you've helped me to see that. I'm 57 and have thought twice about doing this but now I'm convinced I Can Do It!!! Thank you for your input

57 year old low bmi post op 4/24
#9grammy replied to Sha0717's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 57, once I thought I was too old for this wls. But then I had a women in the first meeting ( welcome to wls) who was 60. So I know if she is going for it then so can I! Anyone having problems telling their adult kids? I have a controlling daughter who I believe will b against me getting this done. My son is easy going and say what ever makes you happy mom. My fiancé of 10 years said it was to drastic. He is the only one that knows, my family doesn't understand since I'm the smallest of 5 girls and 2 brothers one who is overweight. I have been taking my fiancé with me to meetings, dr visits, all that I can get him in. So he is getting info first hand, were both retired so he can do this with me. I just wish my ins didn't have a 6 mth PCP for weight loss. I also have had 1/2 of the list of requirements done and the rest scheduled for Aug. sure hope time flies! -
How much was your out of pocket?!?
#9grammy replied to Gonnabeslim1day's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have Medicare and my out of pocket is 10%, which my surgeons office said is about 1,200. -
Thanks for the info on Medicare, I've been looking for someone who is on it. I have to go through many of the tests before they will approve it. The drs office called Medicare and they said I would be responsible for the 10% which is about 1,200. I also have Tricare for Life but they don't cover wls. Unless your bmi is 40. Good luck with your surgery, I have to wait the 6 months, bummer. I was so worked up for having it sooner

Having a EDG on this Tuesday, had a sleep apnea done 8 years ago they are using. Still have to have psy eval, cardiologist exam. Wonder if I got it all in here... I've been reading and reading every day on here for a week, so many good thoughts and ideas, makes me more at ease and not so overwhelmed with it all. Thank you to all... -

Insurance question from a newbie
#9grammy replied to kgunchic's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck to you -
Hi, my name is Linda and I'm really new to this my start date is May 2014. I have been rather heavy most my life but never this heavy at 213 lbs. I have many health issues and on so many medications that increase the weight gain also that I need some help getting this weight off and keeping it off. I have been reading the many forums on here for a week now, every day I have read something new that will help me in my Quest to be thin, or at a decent weight. Some say your not over weight enough to have this done, but when you have to buy 1x and 2 x tops there is a weight issue. I started out at the PCP at 215 he said at 5'5 I have a bmi at 37. I have had my meeting with the surge in and he is wonderful! Been to see nut and a support group just yesterday. I've had my exercise eval done and will have a EDG done on Tuesday the 10 June. My ins calls for 6 visits with PCP and I have to have medical problems, which it have many. What do I want to get out of this? I want to get down and play with my 9 wonderful grandchildren, work in the yard, do my own house work and to look healthy and live longer. Is there any one around my age that has had this done, I'm at 57. Would love to hear from you or anyone on how you made it through the surgery and recovery. I've had so much information from drs nut already that it's a bit over whelming. My fiancé was not on with this, and I don't know if he is or isn't now. He tells me it's to drastic to go through just to lose a little weight... Ha 75 lbs is not a little weight, and I want to keep it off also. Were to be married Jan 31 2015, I believe it will be put on hold just because I don't know when surgery is or what faze I will be in at the time. Also haven't told my kids, just know my daughter will have her say in this. My son well he's easy going and what makes me happy makes him happy. Wow looking back I've written a book so I will stop here and thank you all for writing on this forum for people like me to read.
