5beautifuldays, I too have sleep apnea and can't wear any kind of mask or nose or anything else. I have copd and asthma, low pulse ox readings. My dr put me on 1 ltr of O2 at night. So far so good the nasal cannula isn't hard to get used too. So your not alone, I'm sure there are lots others who can't stand the CPAP makes them feel as if they are smothering. Good luck

What to do with my hands?
#9grammy replied to mamaofmatthew's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Try a new hobby! I do crocheting, used to do needlepoint but my eyes r so bad can't hardly see it to do it even with my glasses. I play solitaire on the iPad, or when u feel like eating go for a walk! Get yourself up to walking a good mile b 4 your surgery. I know it will be hard but u can do it! I quit smoking 16 yrs ago, oh my what to do with my hands while on the phone, with friends, at work ( I worked outside ) yes it's very hard but you can do it. You might drink a big glass of water maybe that will help? Anyway good luck, you can do it! -

Freakin' Fecal Test - Warning, Rant Ahead
#9grammy replied to HaddocksEyes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A colonoscopy is when they put you to sleep on your side and put a tube with a camera up your rectum. They go all the way up inside to through the large and small intestines. Can't remember if they can see the bottom of stomach or not. But it is a test that when your 50 years they want you to do this. I waited till 55 just because I didn't want it done, thank goodness they didn't find anything. The other you get at your Pap smear is occult blood test, they are looking for blood in your (poop). Do hope this explanation helps everyone to understand. Oh the scope they are looking for abnormalities, cancer included. -
Looking for Tricare Prime Users
#9grammy replied to Bring It On's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have Tricare standard as a secondary ins. I was told they will not cover me unless I was 100 pounds or more overweight. So I will be picking up what Medicare doesn't pay. -
Hi everyone, I have only told my fiancé of 10 years and this weekend I finally told my daughter. I was so worried my daughter would come off controlling and talk me out of it, but she didn't! I was so happy to hear she approves and has told me to research everything I can on it. I said I've been researching it for 4 months already! I've been to my PCP and have done all the prerequisites that u have to do, I've the cardiologists to visit late August. No one else needs to know, since my family is spread all over the us I don't feel the need to tell them. Haven't told my son either he needs the wls, but he loves food too much to get it done. But I have such a weight lifted off my shoulders now that my daughter knows. My kids are grown adults now and fantastic parents to their children. Linda

NEWBIES..... LETS STICK TOGETHER
#9grammy replied to pattiecakes79's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Soniaj, I will have my 3 rd apt with PCP on July 16. Then 3 more months. I still have a cardio apt in Aug. I hope to be finished mid Sept then turn in all records and get approved! I don't know how Medicare is with surgery but my bariatric coordinator seems to be sure they will approve. I will see surgeon one last time too b 4 surgery I guess. So that's where I stand, oh and nobody knows but my fiancé , just haven't found a good time to tell my daughter. She may not like this, but it's my choice to get healthy! -

Sonija, I'm also worried about the different scales. My surgeons scale is 6 pounds! different than the primary car doctor. That is a huge difference, then my scale is off 2 pounds with PCP. So I'm all over the scales on this ... -
