Trouble with your liquids - USE THIS
#9grammy replied to GummyTummy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Amazon, thanks. I too received a Rubbermaid container with my sample packs. Just glad I don't have to use a blender. Not that I don't like blenders just never had a use for one. -
I have a sister that lives in Brunswick, about as far south east as you can get also lol.

Trouble with your liquids - USE THIS
#9grammy replied to GummyTummy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've gotten the Unjury tubs of chocolate and chicken and unflavored. Anyone use these that doesn't have a blender or bullet shaker? Does it mix well with a spoon? I hate to get something I will only use for a month or 2. -
Wishes your way for a speedy recovery! Congrats

Mistel, where are you from? We say reckon here to. I too have asked myself if I want to go through this, it's kinda scary, A big life change. I am 57 years old and to change my habits will be a big deal. But in my head also I say I can do it. The drinking will be a big deal for me, I'm on 2 different allergy pills and water pills and I get dry mouthed a lot. Hardly enough spit to swallow the food. So that will be my biggest task to cross. Oct 15th I will have all my dr visits done! Yeah, it's getting closer and closer.

Yes they cover 80% and my supplemental ins which is Tricare for Life will not cover the 20%. They only cover lap bands and bypass. So I will have to pay the 20% up front on surgery day. Boy they sure want their money, not even a payment plan! I will be calling Medicare on Monday morning.

Gallbladder out at the same time?
#9grammy replied to readyforitnow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my gallbladder removed back in 1978, 57 now and don't miss it lol. My surgeon said he doesn't remove them if they are healthy. If it goes bad then he will deal with it at that time. I too had my appendix out at same time and yes they cut you open pretty big back then. -

Prednisone Use
#9grammy replied to MARILYNMONROE525's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, yes I have the copd asthma and my lungs are pretty bad. I sleep with O2 every night for past year and half. Had to get clearance from my pulmonary dr for the surgery. Have to see him one more time before surgery to make sure the lungs are clear. He's the one who told me I don't need wls just do it the old fashion way... Does he really think I'd be doing wls if I could lose the weight and keep it off! I too have been off and on the prednisone for years, gotta love that moon face it gives you,NOT! Prednisone is a great medicine, helps my arthritis as well but the side effects are horrible. Good luck to you. quote name="MARILYNMONROE525" post="3597745" timestamp="1410276377"]I recently discontinued prednisone after 5 years of use. Until I switched to my new pulmonologist, I was unable to tapper down any lower than 20 mg. However, since being with him I have gone all the way down to 3 mg. The first time ever. He is the one who suggested the bariatric surgery for me as a tool to improve my breathing being that my lungs will not be pushed up into my rib cage by the fat middle I have accumulated as a result of extended prednisone use. I am wondering if there is anyone else out there that can relate to my story about respiratory problems, prednisone use and having asthma or copd and contemplating this surgery. My surgery is scheduled for 9/30/14. Also, I am scheduled for an EGD. Does everyone have to have this done? Please share. I need to hear from you guys. Thanks. -
Call you doctor he can order something for nausea.

Not losing weight on PreOp diet
#9grammy replied to Change it up's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try cutting the broth for water, you might be holding salt from the broth. And salt holds water in your body. -
Pre-diet as required by insurance
#9grammy replied to Dcarver57's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I cut out all soda's, and candies. Watch what I eat, always leave some on your plate. I've lost 11 pounds just by doing that, oh and walking on treadmill. Good luck, Linda -
Questions for surgeon
#9grammy replied to ambieambs's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
That's what my surgeon said also. In fact he told me the sleeve would be best for me.
