    Crushing pills or swallowing pills

My surgeon told me that I could swallow pills as long as they were no larger than a pencil eraser. It is interesting how every surgeon has different reasons for every little thing.

    2 days post op

Did your doctor prescribe a Pepcid or Tums for you to take? This has made a world of difference for me. I am 1 week post op. I am also surprised that you can have Jello so soon after surgery. My doc and nut told me that if it did not go through a strainer easily I could not have it for the first 21 days to avoid any complications. good luck and try to stay hydrated.

    Gas pain and diarrhea

I was sleeved June 9th as well and have not had any diarrhea in fact BM's are few and far between. I think that if you are having diarrhea you need to be even extra careful not to become even more dehydrated. Try and increase your Fluid intake. I still have gas pain even after walking so I think that is just going to be the case for a while.

    Question about pain

Hohmanf, imagine that! Your surgery was the day after mine. I believe we chose the best surgeon in the area, he came highly recommended.

    Question about pain

I was sleeved on 6-9-14 and I also wake up with this weird pain in my stomach and my chest that feels like gas but it only lasts for a several seconds and then it goes away. I'm scared of a leak too. I've had to take care of patients that have had that complication and it's just horrible. As long as we stick to the diet we will be fine.
  6. Sotabee I would do it again in a heartbeat.
  7. Hello, I had the same response from some of my friends who are also heavy-set and I just had to set aside their comments and realize that this is my body and that I was going to do what was best for me. I think that their negativity stems from lack of knowledge about the various bariatric surgeries available. Try not to let it get you down and move forward with what you feel is in your best interest. Good luck to you. I am on day 6 post op and despite being unable to consume all of my Protein and fluids for the day I have no regrets. I just keep telling myself that tomorrow will be better.

    ITCHY

3 days post op and mine are very itchy too. I am afraid to put anything on the incision itself for fear of infection. I have tried the ice packs and that seems to be helping a lot.

THIS is how the first 4 weeks go...

This has been very inspiring to read as I am only 3 days post-op. I haven't regretted the surgery yet but I absolutely have 0 energy. Waking up thirsty and not being able to chug any fluids has been the most challenging since I get so full right away. I can't wait until I start to feel better.

    Severe constipation (on day8)

they also make Dulcolax stool softener suppositories. Those worked pretty good for me. It's worth a try.
