If there was a Class Action Lawsuit against the band....
nowornever14 replied to Nursebarbie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am not a person who believes in suing everyone all the time BUT I would join into a lawsuit against all lapband companies !! I know from my surgeon and he is a teaching professor at a university too that the companies totally misinformed them and used manipulated and incomplete studies to promote and advertise their bands to the surgeons. So I feel like my surgeon informed me about the band as best as he could 10 years back. And they (companies) still aggressively try to sell this thing that does more damage then any good. -

Band to Sleevers how many pounds did yu drop in the first 2 months ?
nowornever14 replied to nowornever14's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes I do have some research papers printed out for my doc but she knew them already I have to look if I still have them and go back on the internet to find them. Give me a bit time. I am not eating bread and man made carbs for some years now but yes it is different with the sleeve I noticed that too. But you had probably heard about the latest research results that the bariatric medical profession is on its way to give more emphasis to the fact : that weight loss with the sleeve might have more to do with the biochemical changes resulting from removal of that part of the stomach than the value of the restriction created through the removal. Meaning that our metabolisms change drastically and has more impact on our weight loss than the fact that we just can not eat as much as before anymore. This would explains why there is not much difference in weight loss success between a smaller say 32F compare to a 42F size sleeve. But as I said I will try to find it again and post it here. -

Oh man that sounds like the surgeon had his work cut out for him. My surgeon told me that even though all the prep examinations had been looking good not slippage or such, she still has to go by what she will find inside. But I guess I was lucky , they had scheduled 3.5 hrs but were done with me in just under 2 hrs. But regarding the bougie size - I actually asked to get a bigger one than the commonly used 32F. I wanted at least a 40F since it is most likely not to develop GERD /acid reflux with that size and also a bigger size shows statistically less risk of leakage but still has the same weightloss results than the smaller sleeves. She told me since I do not have to lose such a huge amount and managed my weight basically with an open band for the last 5 years a bigger size was what she would have recommended too. So I am having a bougie size 44F. Hardly any pain (I would call it more discomfort ) no acid reflux it feels great ! -

Same here - I had my band for 10 years and I had lost all 101 pounds I wanted to lose but the problems like acid reflux and pain I had with the band were just too much. I was surprised when they took it out (last monday) that I did not have much scaring. How was the damage your band did? -

Sept. Band to Sleeve Here
nowornever14 replied to Chuchie05's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi Bernie, I had my band for 10 years and just had my surgery on last monday but what I can say already is that it is sooooooo much better. Not the pain not the horrible 'food-getting-stuck' experience and NO hunger !! All things that were the opposite with the band. And my band failed me not the other way around I stuck it out for 10 years and after the first 5 I had to have it opened completely because of horrific GERD and pain. And I still managed to keep about 75 pounds off of the 100 I had lost. The sleeve was the right decision for me and I am only sad that this was not available as stand alone procedure 10 years back. Good luck !! -

Still quite wobbly on my two legs but they told me that I probably can go home after my last blood test. To drink is ok but when it hits the stomach it still hurts. Every new day will make us all feel better

Yesterday I felt sick even from sipping water. Today I already had two cups of chicken broth, one for lunch and one for dinner. That was like heaven after 3 weeks of sweet protein shakes. Only the liquid meds make me a bit sick.

Congrats to all of you!!!?? My band to sleeve revision was successful. The band had not done (even after 10 years) too much damage nor scaring, thank god!! The surgery was only 2:30 hrs. No pain so I did not have to take any pain meds till this morning. But the nausea was horrible. I actually had to vomit twice yesterday and I still feel sick. But other than that I am fine. We did it yeeeaaah!!!

Last night before the big day. Good luck to all. See you on the other side. -
Hey Megan, no we have to drink nothing else but optifast the three weeks before surgery and from today after my last shake which I take at 7 pm only water till tomorrow morning. It probably gives my body time enough to get rid of the protein liquid in my stomach before they cut into it. GOOD. LUCK. to you Megan and GOOD LUCK To all of you September-8-sleevers. See you soon

nowornever14 replied to Liberianne_Gal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@ BunnBunn first of all you have to give it some time, you body has to adjust to a lower calorie diet . It takes 3 to 5 days for that. Secondly you NEED to drink lots and LOTS of clear water in addition. I drink about 1.5 to 2 litre a day just water besides the liquid protein shakes. -
Hi All only 4 more nights and we will lie down look at all the big lights above us while the anaesthetist will say : " How are you feeling ? Soon you will fall a sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep........" lights out !!

@angel22-99 this is what can happen when you had a lot of processed carbs and sugar in your diet before. Your body is experiencing a sugar low. It usually will ballance out after a week. Good luck!
