I love quest bars. I warm them up and they taste delicious. I am traveling to Africa, maybe I will try them.

I agree totally. This is great advice. This exactly what work for me. I just do not eat meat. So my protein snacks were cheese, nuts, and lots of Greek yogurt.

Maintenance is not what I expected.
sa1976 replied to Healthy_life2's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I feel the same way. Maintenance is hard. I have reach goal now at 9 months. I am still losing. But, I have a fear that I will gain the weight back. I started Jillian's 30day shred. To help with toning. I find that I mentally need those rewards that I was getting when I was losing weight. I am so excited that I am in a size 6, but I still feel I have a lot to still do. It is a everyday mental challenge to help me to realize I can breathe a little now and find different things to focus on. -
Maintenance is not what I expected.

I have been eating the quest bars to help me with snacking and getting protein in for breakfast. I also have been eating power crunch protein bars. The only thing they are 200 calories , but the carbs are so low and the protein is 14. They really help when I am craving something sweet. The different Greek yogurt flavors that are 80-100 calories. They have 12-14 grams of protein. Sometimes, I freeze them and they taste just like frozen yogurt. -
I made it to my goal weight. I have lost 114lbs.

Thank you all for congratulations. I know now the real work begins. I talked to myself a lot. I am going to try my best to stick to my program. protein, water, exercise, and my support group for accountability. My nutritionist said something at my last support group, she said we must remember the basics at all times. If you slip up, pick your self up and go back to the basics. -
Why do you think VSG worked for you?
sa1976 replied to RellaBelle's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I get asked this question a lot. My answer is always VSG saved my life. I had my sleeve 9/11/14. I have lost 111 lbs with 3 pounds to go. The sleeve gives me that portion control and I feel will be the key part of maintenance for me. I am so active right now. I am running 3-4 miles every other day. I am in the gym 5 times a week. It has helped me in gaining more confidence to pursue things that before I would not. I do have my moments that i do not enjoy eating because after 1 -2 bites I am full. Sometimes that drives me crazy. But I would not trade this decision for the world. I am off all my blood pressure medicines. I feel I am a better mother and wife. It took me 13 years to decide to have this surgery. So it is ok to take your time to make a decision. God bless -
I have natural hair too. I have locks and I have not experience any hair loss. My hair keeps growing. I keep my protein around 90-100mg a day and I take my vitamins. But, there are some people who have lost some hair and then it grew back.

At my bariatric support group last month, my nutritionist told people who are at stalls to up the protein 80-100 and see if that works. I did and I drop 4 lbs just like that. She said always go back to the basics . Protein first, then veggies, and maybe some carbs. Also make sure you are getting in your water 64 oz a day.

"You do not need to lose anymore weight"
sa1976 posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I am so tired of hearing that. I feel that people are saying that because they were so use to me being 268 lbs. now that I am 166. It is a total transformation. My family thinks that I work out to much. I try to explain to them that exercise and my new love of running is relaxing for me. Today, I ran 3.1 miles and I ran 14 min 20 sec miles. Never in my wildest dreams would I see myself running and running 14 min miles. Has anyone been hearing that they have lost enough weight? -
Four months, down 90 pounds! (Plus job stress)

Bob, I understand how your relationship with food has change. It has for me. I used to love good food. I enjoyed eating good food. Now , I do not enjoy eating anymore. This surgery has changed me in to a person that eats to fuel my body. So I just changed my mindset. I eat to live now. The live to eat person I was is gone. for a while , I was bother about that. But now at 7 months out. I do not even think about it. For you it may continue to be a challenge because you are in the food business. But you should check out you tube it is a girl name cluesie L and she is on Instagram @clueesee and she is apart of our WLS community. she is in the food business and she has made it work for her. It was not always like that for her, but she seems to still enjoy her career in the food business. I wish you the best. Maybe she can give you some advice. I would not know what to do if I did not enjoy being a nurse anymore. That is all I know. I have been a nurse for 16 years. -
Congratulations. You look awesome!!
