I was a "super healthy" fat person until surgery changed my life. Was it worth it?
HaddocksEyes replied to LipstickLady's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Thank you for posting this! I have told myself that the "only" thing wrong with me right now is that I am 140 pounds overweight. The scared part of me tells myself "maybe you don't need to take such drastic measures; you're not trying to cure diabetes or high blood pressure". But I am tired a lot and my body feels heavy and sluggish on a regular basis. I don't last that long during physical work before I have to sit down and rest. Not a 10 or 15 minute rest, not even a half hour rest. I have to rest for like an hour or two, then I can get back at it for a couple more hours. Then I have to rest again. We live in the country so I am constantly frustrated by the lack of ability to get things done. But even at work, just sitting on my behind at a desk, I feel really tired when I'm done for the day. I have little motivation to exercise because I feel "blah" most of the time. That is no way to live. It's been so long since I have been at a normal weight, I have completely forgotten what it was like to be that way. Thank you for reminding me!! Every day I come on here I find more reasons to see this through because of all the really special people on here who share their experiences and stories. You look absolutely great by the way. I love how happy and heathy you look. Those pictures just ooze vitality. -
Anybody else tired of the attention?

Anybody else tired of the attention?
HaddocksEyes replied to Sleeveless in seattle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not dealing with this yet but this has been on my mind for a while now - how to deal with the questions other pose about the drastic loss WL patients have. So I appreciate the responses of those of you in how to reply. I am planning on taking a 4 week leave of absence, maybe even up to 6 weeks, so my absence cannot be chalked up to vacation. I have a few people in the office that are (1) nosy and (2) not shy about it. I know when I come back there will be some people that can't seem to take a simple answer and just leave it at that. Again, appreciate the responses in what to say in reply. I don't want to share this with anyone other than family members. I don't feel comfortable doing that. Maybe I will someday, but not now. And I think that is okay. I would never press someone. If they said "I just eat right and excerise" I would figure that's what they want to share and just be happy for them for their success. -
30 days of blood thinner shots post op?
HaddocksEyes replied to Gammy10's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor requires a week of these shots after surgery. If anyone would like to chime in what that's like to stick yourself or have someone else do it, I'd be interested in hearing it! -
My surgeon won't operate because I complained
HaddocksEyes replied to greensleeve's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I meant when I called in November they said they were full. That woman is the office manager. I have no way to talk to him and at this point I don't want anything to do with them other than letting other people know what happened to me. I also had a problem with an office manager for a bariatric doctor I visited. She was inappropriate and rude so her and I had words. I asked to speak to the doctor but she refused to allow me to speak with him. When I said I would simply wait in the waiting room (I was there for a consultation) to talk to the doctor when he had a moment, she threatened to have me removed if I didn't leave on my own (meaning, she was willing to call the police even though I never yelled or made any threats). My husband and I were so offended at her behavior. I sent two letters to the doctor, but he refused to call or otherwise contact me regarding the unprofessional behavior of his office manager. I complained to the medical group and the health insurance as well and neither of them did anything to assist me in resolving the situation. Because of this (and other more minor reasons), I changed medical groups and I was able to see another doctor, who, along with his staff, is far superior. This medical group operates in a Bariatric Center of Excellence while the previous doctor did not. I actually feel now that the other doctor did me a huge favor for showing what a total ass he was before I gave him a chance to operate on me. -
Headed to the hospital!
HaddocksEyes replied to Shiner86's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor also requires this shot before surgery. He said most blood clots happen while the patient is still on the table. But get this - he also requires the shots twice a day for a week after surgery. So the patient (or someone else) has to give the shots! Has anyone else faced this with their doctor? Good luck in surgery!!! May your recovery be swift and as painless as possible. -
Am I really making the right decision?
HaddocksEyes replied to Jboyd2014's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You can always back out. There is never a time when you cannot. However, with that said, I think you are trying to say you are freaked out about the surgery. I am too. In fact, they have even postponed my tests until I am sure. Good luck to you! I am sure you will do well. -
Just wanted to let you know I feel the same way. I do not have any co-morbidities, so it makes my decision a bit tougher. I'm scared and very indecisive. Thank you to those that have replied. I have found your responses to be very helpful.
