Anyone lose more than 50lbs in this age group (over 60) ?
Reddrobin posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Seems as we get older it is much harder to lose. I was wondering if this premise is also true for those who had the sleeve. The reading that I have done seems that the older you are the less you lose. While it appears the younger you are the quicker the weight loss and number of pounds. Please let me know if you have info on this topic and whether also having a thyroid problem slows everything down -
Has AIC (Diabetic lowered/got normal nos) totally gone after sleeve surgery ?
Reddrobin replied to shirleyjohn001's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi, I had my surgery in June. I was insulin dependent. Since surgery I have been off all meds for diabetes. I watch what I eat and while I have not lost the amount of weight I was hoping to I exercise daily by either walking or taking a Zumba class six days a week. This helps to keep my A1C in check. Good luck to you -
Evening Primose 500 mg in AM and 500.mg in PM definately cured mine.

What does your daily menu consist of?
Reddrobin replied to need2bthin!'s topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Iam so disappointed in myself. I never feel full.i feel just like I did before the surgery. I can eat a complete portion of McCanns quick and Easy oatmeal. Today I was just so fed I had 2 snack packs of pop corn and nothing.. Even had a soda. None of it bothered me at at all. I have no discomfort just normal feeling. Did this surgery work? I am begining my 6th week and have lost weight but now that I am on regular food I still feel like a bottomless pit. I just want to feel full. I walk an hour a day drink plenty of liquids yet as far as food there does not seem to ge a limit to the amount that I can eat. Most of the time I just stop myself because I know I should. When I had the popcorn and soda it was like I wanted to see if anything would happen. Because while I know I had the surgery it seems like I could eat a whale. I just do not know what to do anymore..... HELP!!! -

Sleeved July 10, 2014
Reddrobin replied to Girly24's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Angie, i started walking the day after I got home. At first I did 2 10 min walks and have gradually increased it to 30 min. I am walking at a leisurely pace in the beginning I was really slow. As far as sleeping on your side being a side sleeper myself I put a pillow down against my side to cushion my stomach. I would wake up in the beginning but now 3 weeks after no pillow and sleeping well. Sorry I cannot help with the liquid intake I did not have a concern there and did not have any trouble. Try flavored water. I use crystal light. Just do the best you can do and Good Luck! I hope I helped. -

June Gastric Sleevers Out there
Reddrobin replied to skjerstad's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 6/24. I doing fine with the liquids. The idea of pureed food makes me want to gag so my diet has been limited to, yogurt, mashed cauliflower, scrambled eggs and cottage cheese. Boring. I feel as if i have a bottomless pit. I never feel full and I do not get any signal. I limit myself only because I know I am supposed to. They say this will change once I get on solids. I still have a sharp pain on my left side whenever i bend over. I have not weighed myself this week but would not be surprised if i did not lose. At least i am down 26 pounds from my heaviest.. Great to have this forum!! -

diabetics
Reddrobin replied to Tracis weight loss journey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was off all diabetic meds a week before surgery due to liquid diet. After surgery they would check my sugar frequently and I was always had good numbers. -
I never feel full. I feel as if I could eat anything and everything. I sometimes joke with myself and say the sleeve was never done. It just amazes me I never feel full. I am now on pureed foods 2nd week. I am able to drink all my protein shakes and 64 ounces of water no problem. Will I ever feel full. The only reason I stop eating because I think I should. Any suggestions? What is going on with me.

I mean the small pieces that are in yogurt. Everything says yogurt is fine but not with fruit pieces.

Anyone in Diabetes Remission?
Reddrobin replied to brians34's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Every Dr. It seems has their own opinion. My Dr. only wanted me to have the sleeve with my diabetes. She was totally against the RNY. All i can say is that my numbers have never been better and i am off insulin. -
Anyone in Diabetes Remission?
Reddrobin replied to brians34's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am a type ll diabetic and was taking two different types of insulin 4x a day. I have not had any insulin in 3 weeks. My sugars are about 98 during the day. They do go up at night between 130-145 but i was told that number will come down as i lose more weight. I had the sleeve on 6/24. -

Sleep apnea and sleeve surgery?
Reddrobin replied to Skywalker's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too have apena. I was told just to bring the tubing and mask. The hospital provides the machine. However I will say I never used the machine in the hospital. -
I am a weak post op. Drinking all my fluids no problem. However I am constantly thirsty. My mouth is always dry. Anyone else with this problem?

mom is having the sleeve tomorrow as well
Reddrobin replied to yescobar's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The only thing i need in hospital was toothbrush and paste, hair brush. I slept in hospital gown much easier with IV. Used another backwards for robe when I did my walking. I also had my Ipad and phone. I had bought all this stuff that I never used. Pj, shampoo etc. i did bring slippers but they give you those socks which work just fine. Chad a book never read it. Basically I either slept, walked or watched TV. I would say keep what u bring to a bare minimium. Hope this helped. -

Reddrobin replied to knitlil09's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just started mushies today. I had a scrambled egg and ate the whole egg. I feel no different and wonder why I could eat so much. I felt no restriction burp nothing. I saw the Dr. today and joked with him was he sure he did the surgery because my stomach always feels empty. Any one have any thought? -
I would ask to speak to the office manager. I had a problem and after I spoke to office manager the office policy was changed so no one had to have the problem I did
-
I had my date before I was even approved. The Dr. knew I would be approved.
